100% agree with your post. It’s hated mostly because it is atm the only content forcing you to minmax your build and get really good gear if you want to clear it. I’ve seen the same complaints about Maliwan Takedown here on release, until they indirectly nerfed the hell out of the raid by adding, first, scaling (this one was intended), and powercrept weapons all over the place. Anyone can steamroll Maliwan Takedown now, get a Light Show from dlc3, pearl from dlc 2, and it will carry you through the end. Trial of Fervor is harded than Maliwan Takedown (scaled).
Only legit complaint I’ve read about Guardian Takedown is lack of check points, which is annoying when enemies tend to yeet you off platforms. The rest doesn’t make sense.
I did a solo run with my Fl4k this afternoon and I’d say it would be really nice to able to quit halfway through and come back. It’s simply a lot longer than the Maliwan Takedown. More checkpoints, better loot, the ability to pause and put it down and some way for the jumping sections to become less punishing would all help enormously. It would also be nice if the overall health was scaled down a smidge closer to the Maliwan Takedown.
With the latest patch the takedown is at least worth playing, if you want some dedicated drops.
I did some normal runs and some true takedown runs and scaled on 4 players I only got 1 dedicated from each boss. On normal mode at least 3 each boss.
Maybe bad RNG, but a normal mode run is definitely worth trying.
Ok the most annoying thing they both have in common, jumping puzzles with low gravity.
But once you finished the takedown it gets easier because you get used to the mechanics.
Maybe the whole takedown will be entertaining, some day in the near future. We will see
Btw dakka bear has a lot of really weird effects in that raid
Yeah, I remember when Maliwan Takedown came out that ■■■■ was HARD. I remember tediore moze and amara were the only characters consistently beating it. It was always tricky on FL4K, and Zane could barely get through it (were there even Zanes beating it lol??). While the drop rates were low, the rewards were actually good too when it came out - Kyb’s Worth, Redistributor, 0.m, Mayhem 4 COMS were all great pieces of gear. Like you said scaled takedown came out, which was much needed too.
However, powercreep weapons came in (lob, krakatoa, wedding invitation, anarchy, pearl, etc) and completely ruined the raid. DLC3/Mayhem 6 weapons ruin it even more. Now, Maliwan Takedown is way to easy for a “raid” and it also has crap rewards that have been powercreeped out of oblivion. Guardian Takedown is just harder but with similarly crap rewards. I’d like for Gearbox to buff all takedown gear, and make it the best in the game by a long shot. They also need to up the difficulty of Maliwan takedown too. They also need to stop powercreeping the damn game everytime a DLC comes out. I’m sure this Thursday Guardian Takedown will be getting steamrolled by the flashy new DLC4 weapons… smfh. The cycle continues.
for me it’s all about the checkpoints. essentially it’s digistruct peak with prettier clothes. many people hated digistruct peak–it was too long and not rewarding, hence people making youtube videos on how to rocket launcher skip to the end boss. I think there are videos on how to skip parts in this one too–if people are using shortcuts then there’s a flaw in the design. I don’t care how hard it is or that you need the right gear/builds–I just don’t want to reinvest 20 or 30 minutes of time killing adds b/c I fell off a platform.
The first boss fight–Inflict some damage, he goes into an annoying immunity phase (needs to be taken out of this game entirely) and you run around avoiding a bubble. Rinse and repeat 11 more times. I’d like someone to explain how that is actually fun. For a game with a billion plus guns I’d rather be using those than avoiding bubbles.
In the case of Anathema, you can actually stay on the same platform for the whole fight if you position yourself in the right spot + make sure the boss gets into immune phase at the right spot. Can make a video of it, it’s pretty simple.
I don’t get the billion plus guns idea in the Guardian Takedown. It’s a high end content, the hardest of the game. I don’t get why people complain that you can’t clear it with bad/medium tier weapons. It’s the only content so far where you have to use meta weapons. The rest of the game can be steamrolled with any weapon of your choice basically.
As for checkpoints, I agree with that statement. Can’t argue with this, I wouldn’t mind lack of checkpoint if enemies didn’t tend to yeet you off platforms often, this + low gravity is a bit annoying.
Other than that, this Takedown is good. Still feeling a bit underwhelming in terms of drops, but hoping for this to get better just like Maliwan Takedown did.
The boss fights are really nice in this takedown, the rest is just crap. Without those platforms and the low gravity, this could be a great takedown.
Anathema got too much immunity phases, 4 armor and 2 shield should be enough, he needs more health/phase but lesser phases.
When he does his explosion you can jump to another platform, even on those where also are explosions. Turn around, then wait a few seconds infront of the jumper till the bubble in the middle explodes and then immediately jump back to the middle and shoot on him. Between the middle explosion and the others is a 2 sec difference, I guess
Zane gets so freakin fast, when you shoot the backburner while jumping back you one shot every health bar
Pure CHEAP/FAKE ASS DIFFICULTY!!! It’s the embodiment of horrible game design.

The last time I ran I was magically teleported away from my pet conveniently before he could finish reviving me.
If they wanna introduce a platform-type game, GB could just install another mini arcade like the one in sanctuary. Take out the rewards from the current GT and put it on as rewards on the mini arcade.
Now on GT. Take out the charging of crystals and the jumping on platforms. Let us just focus on the shooting and explosion stuff.
i personally dislike it’s timers a lot withint my prefered ttk it iis just impossible to do without resorting to absolute meta both skill and gun choice wise which is super duper boring for me.
Not to going to lie, a lot of the difficulty just seems cheap AF. The crystal stages can be an absolute nightmare due to being swarmed by endless waves of enemies that are extremely quick and tanky.
Then there’s the platforming, the ease in which an enemy can send you flying 20ft back and off a ledge to your death, etc etc. Earlier today I was going up against Anathema, and jumped back down to the centre arena (middle of it) then proceeded to somehow get flung completely off the map despite no enemies being behind me. Safe to say none of us wanted to go through that gauntlet again, so we all just quit.
GT is definitely tough but since me and my duo buddy figured out how to do the crystals properly, we’ve been having a ton of fun with it.
Yeah it can be much better and the severe crashes we get when we run are a pain but it’s fun. Hopefully Gearbox can make it more of not a pain for others to do.
Was not a fan up to about 3 weeks ago, when I took a more positive attitude to try and improve what was most giving me the most difficulty and worked on the reasons why I would miss vaulting on platforms, I figured it out and that it was mostly my technique and have finished it close to 100 times now,I really have come to enjoy the content and it keeps me from getting burnt out from farming but still wish there were a couple more save points
I don’t care for the guardian takedown for one simple reason…far too easy to fall off the platforms. If I’m playing a Super Mario game with complicated jumps on a level, that’s fine…I’m not in Borderlands for that ■■■■. Same reason I hated playing Doom Eternal.
I never understood the people complaining about the platforming, until I realised they must be mainly console players.
I love gamepads and use them for most types of games on my PC, but they’re terrible for 3d platforming. I remember playing the original Mirror’s Edge (basically all 3d platforming). After beating it with keyboard and mouse, I tried with my new gamepad, because I thought the analog controls would feel more natural for parkour. It was actually way harder, and I think I ended up giving up, and switching back to kb&m. It’s a shame you console players can’t plug in a kb&m the way us PC players can plug in a gamepad (or can you?). The mouse’s ability to spin around on a dime in mid-air is crucial.
That said, while the platforming itself is very easy on PC, I’ve still died by falling off many times, and it sucks. Usually it’s been because of a guardian barging me off a cliff while I’m trying to stand still charging a crystal. That’s infuriating enough. If I had to also platform with a gamepad, I’d probably be fed up like everyone else.
I actually really like the crystal mechanic. But putting crystals right next to cliffs and spawning infinite barging guardians is lousy
