How does offhand weapon selection work?

I am new with using the Gunzerker skill, I have 4 weapon slots and one
weapon in hand, what decides which weapon will be used in the other hand?

Slots 2 and 4 are used in the offhand while slots 1 and 3 are the main hand. Basically it goes like this: 1 & 2, 3 & 4. So if you’re wielding slot #1 or #2, you’ll use both 1 & 2. If you’re wielding #3 or 4, you’ll use 3 & 4…I think. It’s been awhile since I’ve played Sal, but I know it’s 1 & 3 for main hand and 2 & 4 for offhand.

If you’re on a console, the UP and DOWN weapons are considered one pair. If you are holding your DOWN weapon and go Gunzerk, he will equip your UP weapon for his other hand. Vice versa if you start with the UP weapon.

His LEFT and RIGHT weapons are considered a pair as well. Wielding either the left or right gun when you go gunzerk, will bring out the other left, or right gun.

On PC, I think slots 1 and 2 are a pair. 3 and 4 are the other pair.

If you have a Moxxi weapon as one of a pair, is it better to have it in the left or right hand?

Left hand (off-hand) because not every skill buffs off-hand but you still gain the life steal and critical hit bonus on the main hand.

What he said. Effects of your offhand weapon are transfered to your main hand, so it’s best to put your Moxxi weapons there. Also, that’s a good place for a Lady Fist for the same reason.

Unless you’re running a Deputy Sal build with small-mag high-damage offhand weapon (Jakobs shotgun) and 12±mag (Rubi/Grog/Lady Fist/etc) in mainhand.

There are some exceptions of course: Orphan Maker, Flakker, Pimpernel, and Sawbar.

what does the sawbar do in offhand?

Secondary explosions inherit base damage of the main hand weapon (rocket launcher for example).

Would you mind telling me which skills do not buff the off-hand weapon?
