I just played against a good team but one player was exceptional. A Rath. And I swear I have never seen a guy who could “spin to win” so often…and for so long…AND…his health would be down to literally nothing and I’d hit him with an OM Grenade and he STILL wouldn’t go down.

My Oscar Mike grenade has always been a finisher…if they are at 1/10 health…boom…done.

It’s also my lifesaver if I’m getting wailed on…combined with stealth.

But on this guy it did NOTHING.

You Raths out there…what gear combination was he using and what can an Oscar Mike do to combat it.

The guy was 28-1 and 8 of his 28 were me…LOL

I got to the point where I would see him and just go stealth and RUN!

The last sentence says it pretty well.

Any good melee has me running at the sight of them. No thanks! I am fine over here, in my spawn! It’s cozy and safe, I’m drinking tea with Nova!

He might have been using a combination of different gear that reduce cooldown times. I run a blue watch that reduces cooldown by 7% and then another 5% when your skills are all on cooldown. It helps a lot considering from level 1-4, Rath engages every fight with knock-up and crossblades. Dreadwind usually gets 7-8 seconds taken off. Doesn’t even feel like they increased his cooldown.

As for him not getting killed by your grenades, were you trying to kill him with low health mid dreadwind? His left helix option at level 5 grants 20% life steal on skills. if he dreadwinds a player when low on health, he can easily regen all his health back.

I tried using Rath, it didn’t go well

However I tend to run with my ranged account, find a team mate, then turn around and kill them.

Though I do make that sound easier than it is.

if i had to guess, 3 different items with health regen on it? Considering he gains health on hit, plus 3 health items he can pretty much hang in there for some time. I suspect one is a health regen main with second of attack speed. The next one is a health+ with regen. The last one is probably a cooldown with regen or something like that. Maybe a shield with a regen?

Yep. Ran into a guy that got 46 kills as Rath on an Incursion game. The knock up/Ult combo is frickin’ crazy.

So at level 5 he gains increased life steal on his skills, if he uses his ult while having this helix choice he can gain enough life to max his health and does it very quickly. I play rath with a shard generator and cost reduction to get to level 5 quicker than most and I have been using Bola’s Target finder because it is a really good offensive gear. I normally don’t worry about buying the legendary till level 5 because level 5 is greater than any other piece of equipment and if you can get 2-3 levels ahead buy building/minion killing you will dominate a match with Rath’s ult. I usually only use my Rath in uneven matches or to end a match quickly as I can usually carry a team pretty well with him.

I’m guessing legendaries … Alamo 7 (or something similar) would explain how he escaped firey death from your nade.

He could also have Chrono Key or 1.51c to speed up cool downs.

Add in a shard generator … Maybe a zero cost, or maybe not. I have a purple-quality generator with +shards +skill dmg +recoil. Seems very rath friendly.

Could make for a ridiculous rath.

Had to be life steal/skill damage combo although his gear was all purple.

The ONLY time I got him was when I said screw it and went suicide mode.

Got close to get his attention and dropped air strike on my head.

His knock up and alt had me above him and I dropped a grenade on him and just started shooting him in the head as fast as I could.

I sill died first but one of the last bombs from air strike hit him square on the head.

It was the ONLY time the guy went down and it got to the point we were all running away from him but he was still running us down completely on whim.

He finally got bored and went after our last sentry.

The rest of his team were quite good…the Thorn especially was a jumping fool…but really no better than the rest of us.

Rath totally carried them.

I picked a bad time to experiment with Marquis…

It’s already bad enough that I’m a very poor sniper, but then throw this Rath, Thorn and Boldur into the mix and all I could do was try not to feed. Their Reyna and Mellka were really making things hard as well until we had a mass disconnect. Our team managed to reconnect after restarting the game but the other team was down to 3 and still wrecking us, because they had outlevelled us so much.
