Can I offer anyone an egg in these trying times?

Oh what the hell is with Discourse and links these days

I blanched when I saw this phrase and decided to run over here and triple post a cat instead
Ruining the quadruple post:
Academic Rigor?

I wasn’t trying to frighten you, dear. It just seemed the best phrase for what I was talking about at the time. I really just appreciated the effort. Apologies.
It’s alright, I know what you meant
‘Academic rigor mortis’
There, now it’s correct!
(Academic rigor mortis - the condition of having a death grip on your pet theory, to the exclusion of all reality)
MY READING OF THAT ELLIPSES AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO NAZI GERMANY WAS CORRECT AND I’LL DEFEND IT TO THE DEATH!

What on earth is going on there?
Busted and stretched steel threads allowing the air pressure in the tire, aided by the weight of the car and the inconsistencies in the road, causing the vulcanized rubber to bulge outward is my guess.
That sounds like a plausible explanation, but I’m no expert.
Maybe some extreme heat as well? Not a good look, either way!
Probably. The braking surfaces inside can reach temperatures where they glow, and the rim would transfer it. Plus friction from the road surface generates heat of its own. I think that after the breaking of the steel belts it was only a matter of time before the tumors got that big, but heat plus all the factors I posited probably didn’t help the situation any.
I was thinking more actual external temperatures as well - that’s not going to help since both the tire and road surface will be warm before you even start moving.
For something like this I assume all heat is bad heat. I also think that the actual temperature generated by the machine will get way beyond the ambient temperature.
Nooooo this isn’t turning into the Jeremy Clarkson thread
