I’m getting very annoyed due to the fact I keep dying when I try going up against the invincible bosses of any kind. You would think that being 3 to 6 levels greater than them that you’d beat them but no. Does ANYONE have pointers on what items or trick I can use to beat them? I’m playing on PS3 and am siren.
Well, they’re called “invincible” for a reason. They were meant to be a challenge for groups of four players, so it’s not going to be easy to take on one of them alone, obviously. You need very specific builds, gear and strategy to defeat them solo, and a whole lot of luck too. Maya is not the best raid boss killer in the game, but it is possible. Try checking out the character specific sections here on the forums. You’re bound to find a lot of good advice there. Other than that, just search on YouTube. There are a lot of video guides for the most used methods to defeat them using all six characters.
Ok I’ll do that
Tell us more about which level you are, the gear you have access to and which boss we’re talking about, and we’ll see about getting you a good strategy for melting those bastards.
One thing though… If you’re trying to take on Terramorphous when you’re around level 30-35, it’s a lost cause. He’ll always be at level 52-ish in NVHM and TVHM. Once you get to UVHM, he’ll scale like all other enemies.
Ok I’m level 56 and I’m in tvhm and my equipped items are the intense unkempt Harold, the incinerated corporate presence of Hyperion, the scalable conference call x5, the e-tech shocking launcher of tediore, the bee shield, the homing fire bee grenade, the eridian tenacity relic, and the legendary siren class mod. If you (anyone) can give me pointers on where and who to farm the items needed to beat them that would be awesome and I’d be very grateful.
What boss are you trying to defeat? Optimal strategy, build and gear differs a lot from boss to boss. Most of the time, trying to use the same build and gear on all of them is a recipe for disaster. By the way, what’s your build? Go here, fill out the skill trees, come back and post the link to it here (the url changes with each point you spend).
Also, why are you trying to take on a raid boss so early? Most people wait until they reach max level with a full build before attempting. I’m not judging you for it, by the way, I’m just curious. “Because I want to” is just as much of a good reason as any other.
I just thought that you know hey like if I can cripple their shields and take a bit of their life away trying my best to beat them then killing them is possible
Also if your gear is level 50 and you are level 56 being over leveled doesn’t help other than your extra skill points.
It seems to me that you already have gear that should be sufficient, but just to be on the safe side… A few items that can ease your struggle.
Slagging: Even though you’re still in TVHM, slagging enemies helps a lot. The problem with the raid bosses is that most of them wash off the slag almost immediately. The best way to keep them slagged is to use a Bouncing Betty grenade for this, since it slags them repeatedly. The level of the grenade is irrelevant.
Healing: Some of the bosses have AoE attacks that are very hard to avoid (Hyperius and Voracidous), and these attacks deal a lot of damage. The Rubi or the Grog Nozzle are very good when you need to compensate for this. Rubi is a mission reward for “Rakkaholics anonymous” in the main game, and Grog Nozzle is a mission item for “The beard makes the man” in the Tiny Tina dlc. As long as you don’t turn in that mission, you have the gun. Since they both heal you for a percentage of any damage you deal (grenades, phaselock etc), the level of them is irrelevant in this case too. All Moxxi weapons have healing, but these two stand out.
Build: You have a great COM, and this build should work on all Raids. I’ve left out most of the skills that are activated by Maya’s phaselock, since the Raids can’t be PL’d. Some of them have minions that can be PL’d, but you’ll benefit more from other skills.
Guns: Your Plasma Caster and/or your Unkempt Harold will do the job on all of them. The problem with them is that they consume a lot of ammo, and in some cases you only have what you bring to the arena (Hyperius and Voracidous). Miss Moxxi’s Good Touch will deal with this issue. It’s a great SMG, that’s easy to get, plus it also heals you a bit. Just tip Moxxi until she gives it to you. For Pyro Pete, you’ll need a shock, explosive or non-elemental gun, since he resists fire and corrosive. Your Harold works well here, since you have ammo crates available.
Tactics: I have clips from Hyperius, Terramorphous and Pyro Pete. They will give you an idea of the tactics. The Dragons are pretty straightforward. Slag and shoot! Just remember to NOT shoot them with an elemental (slag, shock, fire or corrosive) weapon while they’re in the air. If you do, you will not be able to slag them when they land. It’s a glitch/bug/thingy. Use your Harold to bring them down.
Voracidous is a pain in the ass! You’ll definetly need a way to heal here. Vora and the Chief will switch the shield between them. Some prefer to use the Trespasser (“Animal Rights” mission reward) to bypass the shield and kill the Chief early on, and some prefer to keep the Chief alive for as long as possible, and deal damage to Vora while he’s not shielded. Your choice! Vora goes into rage mode when you kill the Chief, and becomes much more aggressive.
As long as you avoid Pyro Pete’s novas, you’ll be fine. Block line of sight! If you do catch one, wash it off in the waterfall where the ammo crate is. Spiderants emerge from this pipe. The other pipe drops a bunch of rats on you. Rats have guns!
The spot known as “Pride Rock” is the best place to avoid Terra’s attacks, but you’ll still need to jump up towards the gate every now and then.
Use your Converge skill to bunch up Hyperius’ minions, and use a powerful launcher or your Harold on them, to make them go into repair mode at the same time. That’s your window of opportunity to damage Hyperius. If you kill them all, he goes into rage mode, and starts chasing you. This will still happen when he’s down to ~30 % health, but it’s better to keep the minions alive until he reaches this point.
Master Gee doesn’t deserve mentioning, since it’s a retarded fight!
A wall of text, but hopefully you’ll find it useful! Good luck!
Thank you so much for all this information. I’ve beaten teramorphis many times but all the other need to die. I’ll have to write this down though cuz I didn’t think it’d be this long lol. I appreciate your support.️
…and here I was trying to keep it short!
Lol but yeah really thank you for the pointers
