If your in short to mid-range the best weapon that i could suggest is the Fatale/Bitch. Im shredding through badasses in UVHM. Paired with the celestial com and the high chance to freeze especially if @ 100 avalanche stacks this gun gets work done.
I generally tend to use the action skill as I approach an area to thin out most of the crowd to avoid a CQC situation. Only time this really doesnāt work is against a group of ice kraggons, even with a fatale and a celestial class mod.
After getting to the end of UVHM with Aurelia, I think it is close range attackers that help keep her alive. They are not a problem ⦠they are needed.
Short of Zero or Athena Iāve never felt the need to jump into the middle of things, with a character, more. Sure her sniping is great, but once that starts getting dicey, it is time to jump in and get up close and personal.
I seldom have troubles with mobs like that. Hardly ever went into FFYL, and then just popped right back out again.
The bosses are the problem. Taken me a few tries on each, and gotta hope for some 2nd wind target at a critical point in the fight. The Sentinel is all that is left. He got the first one, but really I feel only because I got stuck in slow motion. Try, try again.
I do a sniper build with her and I never really have issues with close attackers, if I do I jump. I mainly use the skullmasher and freezing them wtih BR isnāt an issue.
Perhaps since some enemies move a lot, a Vladof sniper might be more effective.
The Fridgia is getting my Aurelia through the holodome (lvl 60 UVHM). On Round 6. Round 4 and 5 were tough. Died many times.
I had a lot of trouble with the Lost Legion evlolving things, untile I strated freezing them. Same for those giant vault guardians. The Fridgia is not the best damage, but since it freezes things, it is a life saver. Still canāt get either one down for a 2nd wind most times ⦠especially if the Lost Legion things have not evolved yet ⦠take more than one mag and then they evolve during a realod ⦠no 2nd wind then.
Experimenting with some fire weapons (just got a longnail to add to a hellfire), but really havenāt got to use them very much. I keep going to back to the Fridgia and Vibrapulse. And the T4s-R (sp?) in corrosive for anything armored.
P.S. Iām using the skill tree layout that Derch and Sjim mention in the raid thread with an EV LCM and fire resistant Juggernaut oz kit.
Spray and prey should never be an answer, stomp, knockback, aim, and shoot.
I donāt like to be harsh, but, the fact that Aurelia needs a Fridgia, when her action skill is supposed to (imo) do the Fridgiaās job, is indication of how poorly designed Aurelia was. The Frost shard should have decent freeze chance, but this doesnāt seem to be the case. Instead, one has to rely on Bitter Riposte, Winterās Veil, and Fridgia.
The holodome does encourage all classes to adopt the freeze ānā 'splode combo. Fortunately, killing shattered enemies will never get old, and the freeze status basically gives every class a 6 second phaselock. Protip: to keep Eternals from evolving, do not engage them while they still have support. If you do engage them while they still have support, freeze and focus all damage on one eternal at a time. They do not evolve until they take a certain amount of damage. Guardian Garguants are scary, but sluggish (until they teleport or jump).
I donāt use any cryo guns with her, I also donāt do much freeze and splode in the dome, I do more freeze and crit combos.
Got to the UVHM BA Holodome round. Ouch! Wave 3 was as many as I could complete. Usually not that many.
My butt slam is not knocking back any of the big stuff.
I agree the Fridgia is the freeze weapon. Iāve tried others ⦠even purple and orange ⦠but none freeze like the fridgia ⦠not even butt slams. Then I do crit 'em, and not 'splode 'em. Tried switching to other weapons for crits, but they tend to thaw out ⦠even other freeze weapons⦠if I donāt keep the fridgia on them.
I can freeze 'em, but there are just so many. Eventually I get cornered by 2 or 3 of the big guardians/garguants ⦠and yeah the spray and pray ⦠which is all I got at that point ⦠is not working most times.
I am also liking the T4s-R pistols ⦠Iāve got shock and corrosive (the corrosive melts the bots) ⦠Iād like to find one in cryo to try.
Supposed to be tough ⦠so try, try again.
I think part of it is learning the wave patterns ⦠if there are patterns ⦠seems like there are. The oxygen bubble patterns seem sorta random ⦠so I dunno if there is a pattern or not.
I also need to go find ⦠or start ⦠a proper holodome thread and quit semi-hijacking this one ⦠but it is about close range attackers ⦠kinda.
I havenāt even tried to do the Holodome on the same level as my character - Canāt see how Iād last more than about 5 minutes.
I can see freeze and crit being viable in the holodome because of the large size of the arena. But despite that, this game does seem to be designed to punish campers. How about one of the higher platforms where that vault key piece was? Is that a good camping spot for Aurelia?
I donāt camp, I hit and move. Staying still is a terrible idea.
So, I reviewed Aureliaās Huntress tree, and maybe Iāve been trying to play her all wrong. Unlike Zeroās sniping tree, most of Aureliaās crit buffs apply to all guns. So maybe, playing aggro cryo would be overall more effective, and use sniping as the secondary/support operation. One question tho: Do cryo melee/crit/explosive multipliers apply while enemies are being damaged by the diadem, or only if they have freeze and/or cryo DOT?
Other games, like Far Cry and Watch Dogs, I can clear whole camps by sniping and never need to use another weapon ⦠if I chose. This game is just not designed that way. You cannot be undetected ⦠for long.
Sniping in this game seems to be more of an opportunistic thing. If you get the opportunity ⦠sure snipe stuff as long as the sniping is good ⦠but be ready for some up close fighting as it always shows up.
I agree with @rcole_sooner - Sniping undetected is pretty much impossible.
Thereās a great sniping spot on the 2nd hill in Vorago Solitude, but after one shot, enemies detect you and come swarming across.
Can usually take two-four of them out before I have to deply the action skill though.
Aggresive close combat sniping is where itās at! You got much more control at close range with action skill, cryo weapons and grenade, cryo buttslam and whatnot. And when stuff is frozen, run up to them, stick a sniper barrel into their face and laugh.
Probably the latter, but idk for sure.
Winters Veil (I think) instant super high freeze chance when meleeād. Allows you to either Run to a safe distance or just shoot their faces off with a ravager.
