I use deande and her middle helix at level 3 to lock down gal. The uppercut will knock up even if she is blocking and chains well unless they use fast melee. Especially great if you have a good marquis who likes clay pigeons!

That knock up combo is pretty awesome I play deande a lot and its a bit broken you can solo most pve bosses with it by keeping them lock down and 1v3 if you keep everyone in the combo.

While I think she needs some tweaking, it’s honestly not TOO bad to kill Galilea, especially at end game. It’s so satisfying to be Rath and just wreck her with your crazy ninja moves before she can even pop a Desecrate down.

Mellka is a hard counter to Galilea. So is Ambra. You just need to kite as Ambra and use her leech laser. Make sure you have your running shoes on. As Mellka you should be dumping poison on everyone. This nerfs Galilea and makes it easy for your team to counter-attack her. If Galilea tries to body you, you just pop spike, then blade dash her, then give her a melee blow that knocks you back to safety. Empty a clip, eject poison, and rinse n’ repeat. I haven’t had a problem neutralizing brawlers like this as long as I have a clear lane to kite. If you don’t kill them, you’ll at least make them do an about-face and retreat. That’s where you (as Mellka) and your team can keep shooting, or you pop a sunspot (Ambra) to heal everyone while they shoot.

Great Thread!

I don’t know why people were arguing with you about it. Thanks for the tips. I was considering the effectiveness of a CC item. And shield pen is genius!

I think what annoys me with Gal is her ability to auto-attack while sprinting.
That seems like something an assassin should have, not brawlers. Just my opinion though.

I think it’s important for Gali to have this option because it’s all she can do to keep up with someone running away besides her stun (which I think should/could be tweaked)

All the ‘galilea players’ will become ‘alani players’ in a month. I’m giving up now on trying to pick her to avoid the race. The only thing galilea has that worries me is that shield. You can see when she’s aim it though. The predator becomes prey when she misses a toss, so move is sporadic patterns and utilize your abilities to avoid the toss, and then counter strike her. More than likely you’ll have help because everyone is aware of galilea. The best is the miko/galilea troll group that quits when their “strategy” fails.

… but how, as a ranged dude, am I to escape the blender if it can keep up with me and blend?

No melee with a shield and the classification of “Tank” should be gifted the ability to sprint and hack. Mayhaps if her shield is gone, as a helix doo-hickey, her speed goes up? Forsake defense for a bit in exchange for offense? That is reasonable.

As these tips are coming, the other trick I can add is find the stun in any helix. Knock ups, stuns, etc: they will stop a charging Gali. Slows don’t cut it often enough.

I personally use a combination of jukes and that knock back on the quick melee.

Not to mention some characters have double jumps and increased jump height and slows and stuns of their own.

All have their means, but nothing about Gali screams she deserves that unique and only buff. If anyone should have it, I’d give it to Deande… though only based on concept and not by experience. Though it is a moot point between us: they are removing that feature if the Reddit talk was correct (with Jythri.)

Oh, and you bring up a point I keep forgetting to bring up myself: as a tip for ANY melee locked ranged scrub who needs breathing room, most melee attacks from players have knock back and do decent damage. Hitting Gali with it might not save you, but it doesn’t hurt to throw her off guard literally.

This is more a comment for anyone scrolling down and not directly aimed at you… since we are still in a thread on tips. Ah.

From another thread, the rumor I heard is that they’re removing her ability to attack while sprinting, as well as other vague “tweaks”. Changes will come in a content patch (i.e. we have to wait longer since it can’t be deployed instantly via a shift hot-patch)

I see her main strength as her projectile attack (it gives her a HUGE DPS burst. I don’t have numbers but I feel double DPS wouldn’t be much of an exaggeration). Her CCs let her assassinate lone targets but she can’t really deal with two or more players on her own. If she misses her shield throw, she’s in a lot of trouble.

Her self-healing comes in bursts and is fairly pathetic in a sustained fight. Corruption’s health steal is very slow and requires being in the middle of a minion pack to really work (on the other hand you’re being smacked around by minions, so it’s usually a net loss). Her Desecrate healing only seems to work on allies. Her shield recovery healing is the only major healing I’ve seen, and if you miss with it it’s very easy to lose track of the shield and miss the health regen from picking it back up.

When she has Miko glued to her, everything changes. She’s absolutely terrifying. Not only is she MUCH harder to kill, but she can maintain her ranged attack and is almost guaranteed to keep her DPS in high gear. Every other character paired with Miko glued to them is still harder to kill, but their DPS doesn’t change. And Miko, if they’re playing smart, will also be tossing spores at you, tag-team stunning while Galilea’s shield is on cooldown.

@Nypyren

I hope they don’t fully remove any aspect of Gal except her ability to attack and sprint. If you are willing to stand in mele toe to toe with gal as anyone you probably should die. She is all about draining you and buffing herself. A protracted mele battle is exactly what she is built to be best at. It’s like standing out in the open pot shorting a Marqui and hoping to beat him at his own game.

That said when facing Gal + Miko again the issue is that team work is aways super strong. The key is to work with your team mates to break up their plan.

@charlestmattson

I’m glad you found this thread helpful!!

I really don’t think Gal is massively op. I think people just don’t yet know all of their options. I have learned several from other people in this thread that I didn’t know!

I think the key lessons are: Shield pen, cc reduction, use your own CC’s to break up gal and her support, quick mele knockbacks and avoid fighting gal on her own terms (face to face in mele)

@Eggplant

For your information, Gal does have a helix option where she either gains haste while in desecration or slows enemies while in it. Just so you know what to expect when facin her.

That said I do feel she is plenty strong without also being able to sprint and mele. Even having played her I didn’t know she could do that (I thought sprinting disabled attacking for all classes).

Hopefully just removing that ability and very gently down tuning her CC will leave her powerful on her own terms without being able to dominate in so many situations.

Gal should probably always win any mele slugfest. She is clearly built with that in mind: lock down your target, get close, keep them there. Just At the moment it is a little to hard to get out of her grasp because of the sprint attacking

@MP-Omnis

Thanks for your insight! The point of this thread was to educate people on how to deal with a character many don’t understand how to fight. I learned from you and put your advice in the op!

@charlestmattson

I’m really glad this thread helped you!! The more people know how to counter a strategy the less it will be used and the less “omg op nerf everything but my snowflake character” we will see!

Her ranged dps is only 63 damage it was higher in the beta an at launch date around 137 damage or a bit more but a few days after launch it was nerfed they didn’t make any patch notes but I noticed the numbers on her helix went down and using it myself it got weaker.

Sorry but a high leveled and a good gal wont go with a slow or the haste helix but with her mutation instead.

Just thought he should know haste was already an option on her helix given the nature of his post.
