How would you "Balance" X Character?

Short version: improve Mellka’s melee damage, adjust her melee helixes to be viable, allow her to access damage reduction and life steal through helixes, rework Thrill of the Hunt to make it a melee alternative to Refined Canisters, provide a late helix that allows her to venom on melee, revert her accuracy nerf, soften her HP nerf.

I gotta say, after binge playing Melaka to master her, I understand the accuracy nerf. And tbh, it makes sense. They just need to do all the other things you mention and the accuracy could stay where it is. At mid range you don’t miss, but long range you won’t hit the whole clip. Kinda how it’s meant to be with her I think. But her secondary fire melee combo leaves much to be desired, as does the other aspects of her kit

I truly feel that the ONLY buff/debuff Ernest needs is shortened grenade timers. That being said, I think his kit just needs changing. Looking at you, defense mode

Honestly I never really had a serious issue with desecrate, until it pulls me bac from what seems like a mile away…I just go…bruh… plus speaking of one button, what about alani. Heal, Haste, Slow/damage, pushback. Not bashing her. if anything for the love of Jesus fix Geyser

A little off topic but never go for the heal on riptide, always go for the geyser heal. It heals more and is faster.

The accuracy nerf has made her even more terrible in PVE, and it makes her dramatically inferior at range to Caldarius for no good reason. I just don’t think the change was well thought-through…

My biggest issue is that it makes it artificially more difficult to crit, which isn’t an issue if you’re going for body shots, but discourages Mellka from attempting any sort of precision. It’s an artificial skill ceiling that I personally found super frustrating when they changed things (considering I’ve played so much Mell, I was super accustomed to her old spread…)

Lol I usually go for the geyser heal. I do hate the CD of it though. I’m beginning to think it’s a Helician thing; One button does everything >.>

She can still ult and curse with no legs. To be safe, nerf her torso right off of her too. Just two arms with no leverage. If she’s still too strong, I’ll start the petition to remove her bow. She’ll still have blight and ult though, so she’ll be fine

This makes sense, although I imagine programming would be tough. Can we at least have the taser and beam latch on to outlined foes please?

I just think the ability to recieve buffs from behind a wall is unorecedented. It doesn’t apply to any aoes, such as rifts, damage, or healing, so why is he the illogical exception?

I definitely feel the frustration of getting used to one thing and all of a sudden having it change when you were happy with the way it was! This literally just happened at my work :expressionless:

I just wanna add that caldarius is definitely intended to be more effective at ranged, whereas Mellka can do more in close quarters situations. But I do hope they give mellka some love soon. A lot of characters need tweaks atm

I can certainly see the logic behind making Mell and Caldy different (more diversity is better!), but Mell already has lousy drop-off, so I honestly have no idea why the devs thought she overperformed at range and Caldy didn’t… unless they were factoring in venom bullets. but adjusting her basic attack for a single level 8 helix is definitely not a good move (and an implicit acknowledgement that the other options are busted!)

I do worry that some of the tweaks are done in a vacuum. Mellka’s health is now way out of line for a shield-less Eldrid, for example - it is genuinely mysterious to me why Thorn is allowed to keep her solid base health but Mell isn’t. Likewise, Mellka being inaccurate at range is well and good, but is she significantly better at close than Caldarius to ensure parity between her nearest alternative? I’d suggest that she isn’t (Caldarius has better melee helixes, even!)

I’d still take Mell over Caldy or Thorn any day, but the discrepencies trouble me.

Interesting seeing others playstyles, I guess both can be viable depending on how you play. Geyser just matches how I play Alani better than Riptide but I might try mixing it up now.

I always put the heals on Riptide, I usually use the Geyser to get people and hate wasting it on a heal when I rather attempt to take an enemy out of position for 1.5 seconds, but that’s just me. Also Alani is much inferior to Galilea, her 1 button heal, DoT/slow, pushback, is no where comparable to a 1 button pull, silence, slow.

Ernest I think is fine, just think he needs to be checked in terms of where he can arc his attacks, although Benedict and other characters have that freedom of attacking from weird places, so why shouldn’t he?
