Huge FPS drops making it impossible to play

Hello guys, I would first like to apologize for my bad English, but I will do my best to explain my problem.

Yesterday a friend and I went to play the open beta of Battleborn, but as soon as we enter the game we have noticed a serious problem (for us of course), the game features brusque and sudden drops FPS making impossible our fun in the game.

It is noteworthy also that both do not have computers of last generation, but we can play new games with no problem, as Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, these are my settings:

CPU: Intel i3 3.30Ghz 3220 (4th generation)
VGA: Radeon HD 5750 192 bits (: /)
8GB DDR3 RAM
Seagate 1TB SATA 6Gbps
Windows 7 64 bits

I hope you have understood my message, thank you for reading!

You are not alone.

I have the same issue.
I am running a 980 Ti and and an I7 2600 k processor .
The game starts fine but starts stuttering like mad after 5 minutes of play.
Its very annoying.
I really like the game but it becomes unplayable like this.

I understand your worry…Honestly, I’ve had trouble earlier, and the lag is still egregious but once I lowered my graphics to lowest settings, it suddenly ran with almost no trouble (still some stuttering but eh.)
I use an Intel Core I5 (I know outdated right?)
I’m thinking its more a matter of the optimization, which I hope will actually improve as the game goes on if we actually point out the problem…Would I be right or am I just talking out of my socks?

I don’t think the game has poor optimization in the sense of “runs badly on most systems”. It sounds like some type of graphics or rendering bug, as I can run the game on fairly high settings with a 750ti and pentium G3258 maintaining 40-60fps just fine.

All my settings are on LOW or just OFF :frowning:

I’ve got the same processor and card, only 4 gigs of ram (I know), and it runs at a pretty consistent 62fps on decent settings. Weirdly seems to be a lot of people with higher end systems running into problems.

OK new problem and I ask if someone could link me to the relevant topic: the game opened on a pixel sized Resolution, could someone FIX that? I can’t even see the options that would allow you to change the resolution accordingly I am Windows 10 user by the way

Have you tried forcing it into fullscreen mode (assuming it’s starting in a window)

It normally starts on Fullscreen I just lowered a few things but not the aspect ratio.

I also have the same problem. The short version of specs are: 2.5 ghz with 8GB and GTX850M,

I’m well aware that i’m using a laptop/ notebook, but from what i’ve saw, it’s pretty capable to handle this game (maybe I"m wrong. Hope not  ) …

Even tho I minimized all of them and turn of whatever I could turn off, I was unable to catch more then 5 fps out of the combat, reaching 55-60 fps. But when the fight start… 22-30 fps.

Yeah, my Frames per second weren’t THAT horrid but yeah during the campaign mission I played, I noticed that when we were doing the boss and went into a void, suddenly I had like 55-60 FPS.

Has anyone found a solution for this or at least being worked on? I have GTX960 SSC 2gb, FX-8350, 16gb Ram, Win10. I start having fps issues in certain points in story mode. Like in first mission everything is fine till just before and during the fight with Geoff. Nothing but stuttering and freeze-ups. It happens again in the area just before you get to Isic. Only happened once on the fight with Isic. Even changed the settings several times and nothing seems to work.

At least for one thing, it doesn’t stutter or freeze up at all in PvP, just when I do the story mode.

Please, please tell me this is going to be addressed by someone at gearbox? I’m going to have to pass on buying this game just because of a technical bug if I don’t hear something about this being addressed. I love this game, but after about the time it takes to do one match, the fps goes crazy. It becomes completely unplayable. I’m perfectly fine (50+ fps) just running around the map by myself, but as soon as I see another player I drop to 5-10 fps. I’ve got the settings turned down nearly to the lowest settings, but that doesn’t make much sense to me anyways because I always get in one good match when I first run the program with perfect frame rate even at max settings. It’s only the second game that drops miserably. AMD FX-8350 proc, Titan X card, 32-gig ram, ssd drive. This seems like some kind of vram memory leak? it’s just slowly overloading the video card or something? I really dislike having to quit and relaunch in between every match.

EDIT: spent all evening trying different settings on and off and finally it was my resolution it seems. If I dropped my resolution, I was able to turn all the settings back up to max, perfect frame rate. I don’t really get why 4k at minimum settings has the issue, but 2440 size will play perfect for 2 hours straight at max settings.

I also hope they read and try to come with a solution for this problem. I do find this game to be very good, especially when it comes from the gearbox. It’s another sister added to the Borderlands Family and it touched me since i heard about it.
I am a big fan of borderlands series and i didn’t hesitate one second when i bought this game.

That’s why I hope they can figure it out and fix the problem.

Soooo any update to this problem?
I run with a old videoboard (GTX 650 ti), 8gb ram and a Intel Core i5-3330, but almost every game I play, when on very-low settings (the lowest), I can run it at 60fps, the only exception being… this game and other games on Alpha state. I get 20~25fps with everything on low. It was annoying. Borderlands 2 runs flawlessly if I put it on lowest settings, while battleborn doesn’t.

And, while I know I tested the Beta version on the game, I’m just curious if any Dev has said anything about optimization. They’r probably aware, but this is a crucial point for me - I can’t enjoy the game if my PC has too much problem with it :X

And God this is a very fun game. I want to buy it, but I can’t without a update about this issue D:

I do not know if any Dev read this topic yet, I think we would all like to know that xD

This is a crucial point for me too, Gulfos, the little bit I could play I liked a lot and, definitely, if Dev’s resolve this problem of optimization I buy the game, but what is left now is to wait for their position…

PS: sorry for my bad english x.x

I’m a simple man: I see an upcoming game from Gearbox Software, or from the creators of Borderlands I pre-order it.

“Borderlands 3” will come, I hope it will come with a pre-order button. :)).

I think I would’ve pre-ordered it twice (me and gf), but… The fps I encountered on the open beta made me retreat. I wish they did another one so I could test my rig again. Or even a demo.

Damn I’ll lose the pre-order gift skins.
