Huzzah! Finished the Peak Solo!

Well, now that I redid it, I think that I just panicked and didn’t know how to approach fighting Dukino’s mom. Didn’t notice how slow she is, didn’t notice how long it takes her to charge her attacks, didn’t notice how rarely she attacks at all when backing away and keeping a distance from her.

I never used Grogg Nozzle before, clearly a mistake now that I see how powerful it is.

OP7 reached. Well, but almost kicked bucket at several areas.
-For one of them, I find 2 Doc Mercy’s very dangerous and 4+ times died from them when attempting OP6, because it seems to me that I have to kill them before they gets too close to the cover I’m using. This time they too put me in fight for my life, managed because one of them had sliver of health left to get a second wind from.
-Another area I found difficult is one before “omgwtf”, got surrounded by melee enemies and my shield ripped through by spiderant spits even when keeping distance, so I think I likely wouldn’t have survived that without Grogg. Also the 2 badass surveyors that spawned at end, that was close.

Farming a Transformer Shield really helped me for that last room before OMGWTH…

Got THREE of the Giant 3.0 Surveyors and was able to still survive even though they were spitting electrical attacks like a snow storm.

Running around like mad worked for me, this time.

Dukino’s Mom, build and gear shown

I prefer to use a low fuse Storm Front + Grog to heal through shockball spam, as needed. On my second run, I used a 1.2 fuse Lobbed. At OP8, I have a 0.0 Longbow. One SF lasts long enough to heal you through the full spit cycle.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Peak run but as for that section surveyor behavior should be the same as when you first enter WEP. If there are loaders in that attack keep one alive and almost kill it. The surveyors should stop to fix it, allowing you time to whack those annoying things (less annoying if you’re playing Maya obviously but hey …)

Yeah, but when melee enemies were chasing after me I felt a need to put priority on taking out as many ground enemies I can, while keeping a safe distance away from them. I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to take shots at those surveyors until I’m sure that I won’t get my head bashed in while doing so.
Maybe the reason why I didn’t get blasted by those surveyor attack barrages wasn’t because of running around, but because I kept engaging them into repair sequences by taking shots at those melee enemies.

My strategy for these situations is to keep a decent distance away, and once they are about 1/2 way digistructed Spam a few Homing Bonus Packages. Then once they are fully physical go into Decepti0n and rain Kunai, then do a bit of carpet bombing with DPUH. It at leasts gets them weak enough that I can finish them off relatively quickly.

Well, as for letting them come close, I have some pstd’s from killing them and then getting downed with no chance to get out of ffyl by some random grenades they’ve left behind. I tried slag singularity, but I think using grenade ammo for raining down fastballs on them from deception is a better option.

I never even considered that. What a GREAT idea! Thanks!! That’s what I LOVE about this forum. So many smart folks!!

Meh, 6 failed run to reach OP8, I after 3 failed runs took extra effort to farm shock resistant turtle shield and hornet in case of running out of ammo. Now, with seemingly perfectly okay gear I still fail 3 runs.

First 2 failed runs stops at 10th area, where badass surveyors, psychos and loaders spawns, first run because I was a glimpse of second too late to get a second wind, second run because of mismanaging my equipment and tactics. Now I fail because for some reason Dukino’s mom started frequently use spitting attacks at timings I can’t get to cover quickly enough and downed me to FFYL 3 times in a short timespan. Well, should have used deception.

The point is, I’m getting tired of this. Gonna take a break, because I’m getting salty at Borderlands 2.
edit: meh, persisted and did another run, died against Bone Head. I guess posting this wasn’t enough to convince myself that making those runs is no longer fun and ruins my day.

I’m with you on this. There’s this assumption that once one gets to 72, one goes to the Peak until OP8. I’ve done it and am still doing it. I enjoy having a goal and achieving it.

However, my frustrations on the Peak have also taken away from my enjoyment of the game. Besides, even my OP8 characters I play at lower levels because OP8 pushes the fun : challenging ratio into being not fun. I’m just not that skilled a player.

That said, I’m still going to grind Krieg up to OP8 because I can’t stand seeing it looming there.

I want OP8 enemies, my problem is me failing and dying and not making it to OP8.

Hell…I died 18 times at OP6 on my Zer0…

Doing the Peak Solo takes…

Well of course it takes leveled weapons and a little skill…and some luck with spawns…

But most important…at least to me…

Is down right STUBBORNNESS!

If you are not stuck on doing it Solo…call in the Cavalry.

Maya is literally a goddess at the Peak. Do you have a friend to co-op with??

It’s definitely a motherforker to get to OP8 solo. Every time you get it, though… that feeling of knowing that you knuckled up and won by yourself… Damn. That is cool.

Thank god my first was with Maya. It was still agony but she’s the best equipped for it.

But I figured that since I got the feel of the run and figured out the variables and idiosyncrasies of it, getting other characters there would be easier.

Nope : harder. But stubbornness shall prevail.

My first was Axton and at first it was a nightmare…

Then I remembered some good old Infantry tactics like choke points and channelization as well as getting better and better gear…

And It got easier.

Maya was still hard but she is MADE for the Peak.

Then I did Zer0…LOL… and boy did I get my hat handed to me.

Thanks guys. Finished it! I’ve been on low mood today is because I’m midly sick, so it helped to me to get a better idea for how hard Digistruct peak is. Good to know that me failing at it isn’t just me beign bad and unable to focus on playing game properly.

Made 2 more runs.
1st stopped again at 10th area, because ran out of sniper ammo vs 2 last badass surveyors. While I tried alternatives they whittled me down and killed me.

After that I decided to take idea from johnrr6 to get a Transformer shield for that area.

Well, but I ended up not using it, because this time spawns were different and not overwhelmed by badass surveyors. Yay, finally I can start playing endgame.
