HWR Patch Bugs and Issues

#145

Er... its (points up) there, here, I suppose. No sense double posting, someone else can do that, if so inclined...

It would have been nice to know this during the initial posts of this topic...

Hiigaran gunships are playing pulsar gunship sounds when shooting.

I'm still getting stuttering and skipping music even after the patch. Very disappointing, since the music is like... one of my favorite parts of the game.

(Kenny The Klever) #148

Describe your problem a bit more, please. Is it that there is a brief stutter in the music after some time, after which the music enters a constant loop of stuttering and skipping?

If it is, I had that problem as well. I initially had this game installed on a pretty slow (5400rpm I think) HDD. Once I moved the game to my SSD, the stuttering and skipping music problem ceased completely.

Invoking @BitVenom to chime in on this, because I honestly have no idea if it is an issue they could be rectifying, or if it is a hardware problem entirely on our end.

(El Rizzo) #149

What kind of CPU do you have and have you overclocked/undervolted it ? Sound is one of the few things that gets handled by a separate CPU worker (source: BitVenom) and this might be causing issues in your case.

Furthermore, what are your Windows power option settings ?

(Sllangford88) #150

@KennyTheKlever, it's like the music rewinds and repeats the last second or so every few seconds. I can never quite tell what causes it or when it starts happening. I just know that one moment, everything will seem fine, and the next, it starts to stutter. It doesn't get stuck in a loop, it just repeats a moment and then keeps going, but it's VERY frequent.

Interesting thought about the HDD thing though. I can't remember how fast mine is, but it's a dual SDD/HDD drive. I should see about moving it to the SDD and see if that fixes it. It's the only game that I notice this happening on, but even still, it's worth a shot.

@maelrizzo I'm playing it on a Lenovo Y510p laptop, i7-4700MQ processor. I haven't touched any clock/voltage settings at all on it. As for the power settings, it's set to High Performance.

UPDATE: So, I reinstalled it on the SSD, and it seems to work like a dream. Played a couple missions, encountered no stuttering. It must be that whatever handles the audio streaming is so sensitive that a few micro delays will start to throw off the timing for the music or something. The space on the SSD is rather limited, so it'd be nice if I didn't HAVE to keep it there. But, at least it works!

(El Rizzo) #151

Glad to hear the SSD fixed it for you  a faster HDD would probably work as well, but Laptops often use slower ones (5400rpm instead of 7200 and probably smaller cache size as well) as they consume less power which is vital for a laptop's battery, but can have drawbacks like this (apparently).

(Kenny The Klever) #152

Glad to hear the SSD solved it for you as well. "ccleaner" is a good program to help you identify and free up more memory on your SSD, if you need. My SSD is where the OS is installed, and all of the appdata and other windows stuff tends to build up after a while.

I placed my flak frigs in sphere guard formation and on aggressive all the way and they would not guard my BC. They just took up a parade around my BC and did not fire at enemy strikecraft. They do not guard. @bitvenom

I noticed the same reaction...

A possible support frigate bug i found, in campaign and multiplayer. (I tested only with kushan)
Happens with the support frigate, but the repair covette appears to work ok.

When I get 2 support frigates and select both and command to box repair some ships which compose of one damaged frigate(eg assault) and two damaged corvettes (eg heavy corvettes) , and several undamaged frigates/corvettes.

One of the frigates goes to the assualt frigate to repair it. But the other support frigate is stuck. It keeps switching repair targets between the two damaged corvettes every frame and does not move.

After the assualt frigate is repaired, then the repair targets are reassigned, and the support frigate gets unbugged.

This seems to happen when support frigates are ordered to box select-repair a mixture of damaged ships of different priorites, which includes a damaged corvette(s). Eg damaged mothership and corvettes.

As much as I tried to search this and other bug threads, including using the browsers keyword function I could not find this bug.

In HW2RM single player campaign any ship docked in a carrier gets lost during the transition to the next mission. For me this is quite serious problem as I’m used to docking the ships too weak to handle certain situations in the campaign.

Bug report for HM2 campaign mission 5: Gehenna.

Reloading any save on this mission causes the enemy to launch probes and alerting the enemy presence. This largely means that it defeats the object of being able to save at all on this mission.

I can’t read the log, but I had your same problem (general error halfway through missions) and solved it setting a Normal AI strategy (found this solution here).

You need to post “this” log file: HwRM.log

More specifically: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release\HwRM.log

the last half dozen lines will do.

Hello. Can someone let me know whether the RU meter now properly disappears when the build / research menus are closed, when playing with no HUD? It used to remain showing every time the build / research menus were open and closed, despite having the HUD set to disabled, and I’m wondering if it’s still like that.

#164

Sorry for the late reply, but here is what I noticed:

  1. Hitting tab three times will eliminate the Ui entirely
  2. When prompting the build or research menus, the ru meter becomes visible once more
  3. Closing of the menus will not remove the UI ru counter.

Short answer: No
Long Answer: (building suspense)…No. And, on this note, why isn’t it?

I personally would rather it show with the rest of the ui and hide when prompted. I understand why it pops up with the menus, as it is helpful. The launch menu doesn’t cause the same display prompting, which I though was interesting.

It would be great to have a dedicated ‘on/off’ toggle for ui entirely, in which only the build and research toggle key would show and hide their windows with the ru counter. Hopefully a patch can fix this.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, this is how I feel about it, too. I also would like a solution that doesn’t require the UI to be hidden at the start of each new game, but which preserves the UI settings. Maybe a settings-menu option to choose the default UI state?
