I am hating these story missions so far

I sat on the highest point the second time it happened and WATCHED - I actually did not even SEE anything shooting the damn thing - I’m convinced it’s some hit of DoT effect bug (one of my teammates got a similar unending DoT debuff buff during The Archive).

Maybe we just need to get more familiar with the map. I could do the algorithm and voids edge with my eyes closed during the beta, but now i cant find a group that can clear one mission. I will say that ive played 4 missions and i do remember taking about 5-8 missions at the beginning of the beta before I really found a groove and never had much of an issue. I just hate the defend a point missions in any game ive ever played. Personally, a hectic atmosphere is neither conducive to cohesion or fun.

I don’t think the issue is familiarity - it’s “flow”. The new maps have FAR too few chests and such, and those speed pickups are VITAL when they are asking you to make mad dashes all over the place to attack spawners…

Yeah, there’s something weird going on at the end of The Saboteur mission. Same thing in my game on normal. I didn’t see any red dots close to her and she was taken out in about 2 minutes. No clue what happened. Not fun.

Build defenses.

  1. Most of the time you want temporal traps, not inferno (many people make that mistake).
  2. Not sure about rocket turrets, I pick the machine gun ones just to be safe 'cause I think rockets might be hurting the core.
  3. Build a repair drone so it can repair the turrets/traps you built.

Also, The Saboteur is clearly imbalanced, ignore that mission.

This. So much this.

My biggest problem with The Renegade is getting a 2nd person to come on the roof during the 3rd wave. Everyone just sits at the defend point killing stuff. I don’t think they realize the mobs spawn from those spikes and if you don’t destroy the spikes on the 3rd wave, you’re up ■■■■ creek.

Yup, had that happen too.

In general, the missions can be kinda confusing for folks who don’t know where to go or what to do.

You’re lucky that was even an option for you!

I loved that mission, unfortunately everyone tries to choose it now so hard to get anything else. There are those heli-pad areas in the corners at the end that you can just stand on and kill 90% of the waves that spawn. If you are working on Attikus it’s great, tons of thralls to unlock him (I used Rath at first and almost none of the enemies escaped the pads, was getting about 300 Jennerit enemy kills a match) then once you have him it’s a good tactic to get your 25 “knock three enemies in the air at once” lore.

My only complain is that it’s impossible to get Gold or Platinum score solo. I already did most of the mission solo but I can’t get higher than siver even when I’m not dying.

Ya i am lucky to have a room mate play with me but on the harder difficulty it can be almost impossible but i do not really see an easy fix for this issue sadly so i feel like gearbox will leave it be.

Do platinum scores even exist now? I haven’t gotten a single one since the Open Beta, and I got TONS of them there (some very good teams).

The icon was like, a silver circle outline with a spiky pink crystal inside it - that’s what you mean by “platinum”, right? It was higher than gold, and I’m really unsure that they didn’t just remove it… :L

While I did all the missions solo without an issue - no failures even once I mean - I must admit the very last boss was particularly frustrating. Good thing I had something like 12 lives. But god, was it stupid getting bumped all day long into the killing void.

However I just can’t for the life of me get a silver rating in Renegade normal solo. I tried with a bunch of different characters I had started leveling - I did most of the stories with Phoebe and it was fast and deadly. I have no idea how to get a better score alone since we don’t seem to have a breakdown of the final score. A rating of time, kills, damage taken, objectives, anything really, would help to know where improvement is needed.

And it would seem we have to do silver on each mission on NORMAL to get Kleese ( or get command rank 36 ). I got silver on advanced on Renegade, no luck. It clearly didn’t count. :frowning:

It’s funny, actually, since I made another thread about how unbelievably irritating it’s been to play the same damn map every time I try and play campaign… it’s ALWAYS RENEGADE! I’ve not been able to experience a single other Story Map in public matches. ALWAYS FREAKING RENEGADE.

Such baffling selection / randomization for the Story / Public stuff…

Mine was The Void’s Edge, I had everything else done but nobody would EVER choose Void’s Edge because it doesn’t unlock a character and we all played it in beta. So I’d see it there and watch as only I voted for it while everyone else goes Saboteur.

I’m glad to be done with it, I had at least silver if not gold in all missions except Heliophage, I’m sure I’ll get it in a couple more tries though.

I haven’t seen a platinum score, but I’ve gotten golds solo. The biggest thing is to loot anything and everything and make sure you watch for the multiple releases of bonus points on each boss-creature. Do that and gold is simple.

This game is not fun. Some are near impossible solo to complete especially on advanced.

Wait to you get to mission 8 solo on advanced. You have to clear the map in like 25 minutes and I give it my all and usually have 60 seconds to spare now after failing my first 5 attempts. The you fight the end boss and tons of mini bosses. I never beat it on advanced. I fight the bosses for a hr and its buggy and lots of mobs come and when they touch me i fly off the map. Eventually it takes all my lives.

Got platinum in beta, it’s possible

In beta they made it easier I think, cause I got a platinum the second time playing Void’s Edge. Now I haven’t seen one no matter how much we wreck on a mission, collecting everything, etc.

That last section of Heliophage is a real ***** though. Rendain throws me off the map, then if I don’t get revived and respawn you end up surrounded by like twenty big thralls with guns and shields. I see people respawn, jump down and instantly die several times. Are you supposed to go around and clear all the minions before fighting him or do they respawn forever?
