I ****ing LOVE Iron Bear now

I equip Raging Bear when going into IB, at least for mobbing. Yeah, I should try the blast master for boss fights.

It’s a tricky one as if they fix the right arm then the overall damage of IB will go up 25%. The left arm with a +2 desperate measure bloodletter does more damage than a full damage blast master, so it’ll be just weighing up survivability of IB with Moze’s damage.

MoD tree deals less damage overall but increases survability and duration of IB
SoR will deal more damage with Moze and IB
Bottomless mags I think should be used regardless

Or just run Tediore chuck with raging bear as that is the strongest build currently.

I honestly don’t think there is much debate for the grenade launcher - the damage is pitiful compared to the other two.

Iron bear with 2/3 deadlines and 5/5 stainless steel bear has this duration on the following attachments:

Rocket pods - 25 secs
Explosive mini gun - 42 secs
V-5 with 5 round burst - 30 secs

Rocket pods deal more damage in 25 secs than the mini gun deals in 42 secs.

If you think the grenade launcher does less damage, you’re not using the grenade launcher right lol. It reloads faster, has more AoE, a larger “clip” and consumes less fuel per shot. Only sucky part is that your grenades arc which makes some targets annoying to hit.

Explosive minigun is about sustain.

Rockets deal more damage than the minigun but eat up way too much fuel. You will last longer with the explosive minigun which means more sustained damage.

I think the AOE may be what makes it good then. Maybe that’s my issue, I need to mob with the grenade launcher more. I’ve tested them against bosses predominantly. The rocket pod does about 70% more damage.

I don’t think the duration makes much difference though. Surely if something deals (hypothetical numbers) 1M damage over 25 secs vs something that deals 800k over 40 secs, you would take the former? It’s only when you fire it than the fuel decreases at a faster rate, walking speed uses the same fuel regardless.

Each grenade deals around 6-7k. You can literally sit in front of bad asses and some bosses, just spaming left+right trigger and melee without dying. Even some of the M4 Takedown bosses with a Bear Trooper COM.

If I remember right the rockets to a little more damage. Like we’re talking 8 or 9k but reload slower, eat more fuel and doesn’t synergize with Vampyr as nicely.

You get a lot more damage out of the grenade launcher, to the point where until Guardian Ranks work again, not sure Rocket Pods are a good choice at all.

Problem with dealing 1m damage in 25 seconds vs 800k over 40 is that you have to survive to deal with 1m damage and with the rocket launcher, due to it’s low AoE, slow reload and somewhat small clip size…on M4 content, that’s not too likely.

The one exception is flying bosses. Grenade Launcher sucks vs those.

I dont know man. Even after the buffs and killing Billy upwards of 200 times (or more ), I would switch out the rocket pods for other weapons out of pure boredom , and the only weapon where I can kill billy with one fuel tank were the rocket pods

Explosive miniguns and rapid fire grenades came close but billy still had quarter of life let .

This is on m4 so not much modifiers either

I’d ask what you’re using to kill Graveward with 1 fuel tank on M4. IB is good but not that good lol.

Billy on m4 is actually really good to test builds on. Big mostly stationary target . I would run into the room and usually able to snipe him with two magazines of fire cutsman, then jump into IB

With rocket pods I’d usually kill him in one IB cycle , with other weapons I’d have to come out and finish off his remaining 20% or so life by spamming f
Cloning ghast call grenades and using fire cutsman

You don’t take into account the fact they fire at different rates.

Okay, so I bit of testing on the target dummy, (using every skill that boosts iron bear damage, +5 in desperate measures and an artifact with +33% damage) heres some maths:

Rocket pods fire 58 times on each arm, each time they fire, they shoot 3 rockets that’s 348 rockets

5 round burst grenades fire 23 times on each arm, each time they fire it obviously fires 5 grenades - that’s 230 grenades

Right arm 7810 + 1819 fire damage per rocket. That’s (7810+1819) x 174 = 1,675,446 damage

Left arm 12.5k + 3334 fire damage per rocket. That’s (12500 +3334) x174 = 2,755,116 damage

This is a total of 4,430,562 over 25 seconds

Grenade launcher damage ——————————-

Right arm 6566 +1685 fire damage per grenade. That’s (6566+1685) x 115 = 948,865

Left arm 12k + 3089 fire damage per grenade. That’s (12000+3089) x 115 = 1,735,235

That’s a total of 2,684,100 over 30 seconds

The point you made about vampyr is very valid and the only reason imo to use the grenade launcher over rocket launchers. Admittedly it’s something I didn’t take into account.

What on earth are you spec’d into? You’d have to be in Desperate Measures for that right arm left arm stuff to happen.

Grenades for me deal anywhere between 2k to 7k damage with another 2-3k in fire damage.

Pods deal about 6k per shot with another 1.2k in fire damage.

One thing you’re not accounting for, probably, is that Pull The Holy Pin works with the Grenade Launcher.

Sadly this is incorrect - the grenade launcher can crit but that’s just if you hit the crit spot, same as the rocket launcher. It doesn’t randomly proc a crit if you hit a body shot or hit them with splash

You sure about that? Google tells me it does.

The rocket pods really not only do the most dps; but you get more damage overall per gas tank . Just pick a target and kill it over and over and you’ll see what does the job better and quicker with least amount of fuel

I think a lot of those google results were because of LazyData’s video posted when the game first came out where he posted some gameplay of the v35 critting. People didn’t seem to consider that it can crit like most weapons in the game.

I tested it on the Jack target in sanctuary and out of a a full duration didn’t get a single crit. I tried it with regular grenades and the crits happen no problem.

Ahhh, that’s too bad. Still not sold on the rocket pods though. Yes, they deal more damage but they chew through fuel faster and don’t work all too well with Vampyr. At least on M4.

They have poor sustain due to having 3 shots with smaller AoE than the grenade launcher, meaning you can’t heal yourself up when tanking bosses, which you can do with the Grenade Launcher.

One build I use that nobody talks about is the auto bear mod. It’s actually good with the right build and it’s like u have a pet lol. Ik all builds will get better with guardian rank. I do also know sadly because stainless steel bear doesnt buff bear dmg there is no way it out damages moze in any situation
