The only thing we can go off of is BL history and so far they have never gone p2w.
I dont see an issue with them continuing this trend.
p2w wasn’t big when bl1 an 2 launched like it is now. when 80% of modern games have loot boxes an other greedy tactics for getting our $ could u really trust it to be fair an balanced. + it wouldn’t be gearboxes choice really…like i said i really like the idea just not how it could be exploited.

BL3 doesnt have any p2w items to buy and gearbox has already stated they never will so I have no reason to doubt them. Their history shows they wont p2w.
in the end its not up to them tho if 2k wants it there gonna get it. i know that there havent been any p2w mechanics in any prior bl games but games dint pull in the amount of $ back then that they do now days im fine with dlc like in previous games but bl wouldnt be bl if they put p2w stuff in it…but i am all for ur idea if it could be implemented without being exploited for mass profit…just saying.

Publisher doesnt control what is in the game like cosmetics or p2w items, just selling rights to whoever they want to deal with.
Seasonal items would be controlled 100% by gearbox not 2K
gearbox would be the one to place it in the game but most if not the main majority of the funding comes from 2k who has invested there $ (i use that term loosely) if the investor wants it there kinda obligated to do it to an extent…even more so if there are private investors involved…but between dlc an all the other stuff they doing if they did impliment any of this it would be after i think but who knows im just spit ballin with u.

Not even remotely similar to the seasons I am referring to =)
lmao seasons none the less. even themed for holidays.
Considering you’re asking for stuff like raid bosses, new mechanics, etc., I think it makes more sense to implement them as permanent DLC instead of temporary “seasons” where the stuff all disappears afterward.
The Mayhem Mode modifiers can probably be tweaked to generate daily/weekly challenges, like “Kill 500 enemies with melee; Enemies move 300% faster”, “Clear [Named Area] without killing any Tinks; Enemies now throw Tinks instead of grenades”, or whatever. The rewards could be Skins or a Purple Annointed item from your choice of manufacturer, guaranteed to benefit the Class you used, with a chance of being a Legendary.
I tried the D3 seasons, the challenges are uninteresting. D3 and BL3 are very different games though, so maybe BL3 can generate more interesting challenges than speedruns or more goddamn grinding.

These are all what I would call events…
A season is something that would last like 3-4 months and would have everyone make a new lvl 1 character with no gear and start fresh.
Then add goals to achieve, like kill a certain boss on a certain mayhem level, and after you achieve all the goals for that tier you get a reward, like a special cosmetic skin or maybe a specific weapon/shield which might vary on the class you are playing.
Then have maybe 4-5 tiers where you get said reward for completing each tier.
They could even have a board showing where you happen to stand as far as what goals or tiers have been achieved in case you like to compete with others. Rewards wouldn’t be affected by leaderboards though, it would just be bragging rights.
Each season could have something unique about it like D3 or PoE do and people really love them, they are hugely popular. Maybe a certain enemy that might spawn randomly which might give special loot, or maybe chests change in some way, who knows. They could even change crew challenges based on seasons.
Again, people that don’t want to do them can simply not play them.
Gearbox could make money by adding special cosmetics you could buy only during that season, lots of people, including myself, would pay for the cosmetics just to simply show their support, I don’t care about cosmetics at all otherwise.
u lost me there i agree other wise but alienating ur player base for profit isn’t right there should never be any item that u can only get by buying in any game its a slap to ppl who cant afford to buy them items that really would like them. even if it was say a doller right or what ever u would have to get a preloaded platform card or use a credit card to get the item well preloads dont sell just a doller card an a lot of people dont have credit cards or trust putting them in on a site or platform if they do… its not right is my point i like the idea u have just not this part.

Borderlands 2 had specific DLC packs that were basically just skins.
This would be no different other then they would be only purchasable during a specific season giving certain people a reason to buy before they are gone.
Nothing game altering, just cosmetics which was done already so there would be nothing different really.
they made them part of a bundle u could get in the goty or handsome collection game.
just dont think its right we gonna haft to just disagree here. dont think anything should be locked behind a pay wall unless its actual content. skins aint content.

Understandable, but I always thought skins were the perfect in game transaction for companies to make money. Non impacting to the game and was a nice way to help the company.
If we want game companies to support a game even after the DLC is released, they need to pay employees. I personally would rather not have BL3 just release the DLC content and be done similar to BL2, in game transactions for cosmetic items gives them a way to continue supporting this game even beyond all the DLC they have planned, and to add special events like seasons.
i doubt that any AAA game developer is hard up for funds…skinds for $ is a cash grab idea and making it to where u can only buy them is even worse some ppl like to 100% games an u cant do that if u gotta buy skins that u can only get by buying them. its greedy and alienates ur player base.
All that can be done by using the Mayhem Mode system and tweaking the modifiers. Making it optional is already an option.
•I think daily/weekly Mayhem Mode challenges are a better fit than drawn-out 4 month long challenges.
You can have a modifier where Bandits throw Tinks instead of grenades for 4 months, or you can have them do it for a day/week, then you get a new ridiculous experience and rewards.
•Look how much bitching there is because yet again we have to re-level all our characters like 3 times, based on that I don’t think adding more of that is a good idea.
•“Don’t play it if you don’t like it” isn’t a good argument/point/whatever. This stuff takes manpower, which is better used to create content that the majority of players will enjoy, not a small group of super-competitive players that want to shoehorn “seasons” into this game. If the profitability and well-being of the devs really is a concern, then that needs to be investigated.
Of course, we’re all just making up numbers to suit our proposals/opinions. Only Gearbox/2K/whoever knows for sure if there’s enough interest/crossover between fans of Diablo-type games and BL-type games.
Whatever they decide, I’ll probably play it anyway. We already bought the game, might as well try whatever crazy thing they throw at us haha.

Everything is subjective on our parts, but we do know that Gearbox already stated they were using D3 as a model for BL3 which is what gives me hope for seasons =)
