Ideas to bring back CL 100 players?

How tough am I?! I once mastered all of the characters in Battleborn. Without any milk…

Yeah I worded that poorly my bad.

Your right, CR does not indicate skill. It should be done by W/L but also by in-game performance. Not necessarily KD, but a combination of buildables, minion kills, with KD factored in too because if you are feeding with 10+ deaths and little other contribution, you’re severely hurting your team.

You are right though, I guess I view this game more competitively, while more casually for you.

I’m sold on this.

Borderlands gave Maxed ranked players to go beyond & acheive more. Gearbox with the Borderlands franchise, thrived on rewarding us with more past the level cap. Even raising the Cap limit at some points. Im currently trying to rank up all Battleborn at this point but once im done…I need some level cap raising, raids, more story missions, balanced PVP, maybe even a Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot style of Arena / General Knox Style of Arena to add more game modes to the action!

It’s less scummy than making you gamble for it and getting three commons.

I like the idea of Mastery Levels for individual Battleborn. Once you hit 15, you start earning Mastery XP, which continues essentially forever, and maybe earns you some loot packs every now and again.

Also agree, though there is no reason why they couldn’t have done both.

Also this, this is very good.

I think we might want to institute a different level of ranking as well.
I think this may be what @sbspalding is getting at.
Something like a Mastery Level System and then an Expert Level system.

This would allow CL100s something to strive for.
In PVP this is akin to the Competitive Ranking systems.

Unless something has changed, that’s still being worked on.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. I think it would be fun, and would give me incentive to play more Thorn – which is basically all I ever want.

@sbspalding. I agree. As a CL100 with mastery in several characters I would have more incentive to play.

Sorry for piling on, I just think we need something like TVHM and UVHM from battleborn. Master and Expert Level would do it.

Also, it would help those who keep complaining that PVE is too easy.

Keep in kind that Borderlands is a completely PVE game (unless you count that horrendous “dueling” option), and it had four characters in the first game, and six in the second game; a LOT less than the current 26 in Battleborn. Also, there was no CR that i remember. Will Gearbox probably raise the CR cap? Yes. Will they probably come out with more ways to reward max level characters with loot packs? Yes; but PVP and MOBA matches are a different experience everytime, and not the same story mission over and over and over again, like with Borderlands. The new content was MORE NEEDED in it. So far Gearbox has been doing a good job of giving players what they ask for. Slowly, and without any news pre-patch; but they’re doing it.

That’s why I will probably never play PvP. Doing Lore challenges and leveling up my favorite chars brought me to CR100.
While I definitely enjoy Incursion, judging from private Bot matches, I don’t wanna end up being expected to carry the whole team, just because I got a high CR. :unamused:

That aside, I’m still actively playing the game and got a ton of things I want to do (play/master different chars, farm certain gear etc.).

And it is 100% fine if you want to play that way, and a good example of why CR means nothing in PVP. If Gearbox decides they want to add a ranked lobby, hopefully they will do so in a way that ignores CR, or we can expect a thread that crucifies them for THAT too.

With how many players are CR100 now, I honestly dont notice or care how good you are relative to your CR. It really has no correlation to your skill (beyond the first ~20 levels when you are figuring out the game).

Ill be glad when they implement hiding CR to other players, as its a meaningless number.

Being able to level up more would be great, weather thats doing something along the lines of “prestiging” like CoD, or just grind to 1000+. Just adding a faction loot pack every 5 or 10 levels with a legendary pack at every 100 would be a great incentive, just like the 50-100 levels currently are.

With respect, I think the “most games don’t do this” argument is not especially helpful. You only have to say the same thing, phrased differently, to offer the counter view: some games do.

Battleborn attracts many different kinds of gamers who have different expectations. With its loot, chests, PVE “dungeon” grind, character levels, and lore, it draws in a particular kind of player who is accustomed to - expects - that a level cap is not the end. MMO and Diablo-clone players are used to alternate advancements beyond level, increasingly focused and rewarding grinds, a continually raising endgame cap. In those genres, what you describe as an unreasonable exception is the norm.

And Battleborn knowingly, deliberately flirts with those genres and appeals to its fans.

Because Battleborn is designed to attract grind-gamers by having loot, bosses, and repeatable missions: it is only reasonable that grind-gamers be allowed to voice what they would like to see accentuated from that element of the game. It isn’t fair to criticize anyone for not having chosen (for example) their personal goal to be the mastering of the entire cast. Many RPG/MMO players choose a single class or character, identify with it, and want to go as deep as they can without changing. It’s not shortsighted of them: it’s just another way of enjoying games.

For every kind of badass. That’s the motto. Worth remembering.

I did not criticize anyone for playing the game the way they want to play it; i was criticizing the thought of adding a leaderboard or extending the level cal for the sole reason of “showing off”. It is petty, and does nothing but support the fallacy that one’s CR reflects thier PVP skills. Also, if Gearbox wants to entend the level cap, fantastic; i just don’t like the argument that “there’s nothing left to do” when it is already known that more characters and story DLC is on the way, and other characters have been left entirely unplayed by said person. For players that have done literally EVERYTHING already, i would recommend some patience and pacing in the future, instead of blaming Gearbox for not having a higher level cap. something that MOST games do not have. MOST is the key word that keeps my argument from being turned around.

A game that styles itself as having something for everyone shouldn’t be bound by the word “most.” I think that any criticism of different gaming mentalities (be it a desire for a leaderboard or anything else) is unwarranted in light of the fact. “it’s not for me” is one thing; “it’s petty and suggests a superiority complex” is another. I just don’t agree with the divisive language, I guess.

Its just kinda stupid we don’t even get bonus credits at cap or something because

  1. you max out in the first month if the game especially with that double xp period we had not long after launch.

2). We still have tons of challenges left that are going to waste now

3). No way to get commander packs anymore. at least put them in the marketplace.
