This would work for PvE but not for PvP.
Can you fight an entire army by yourself when the others are all idled during PvP? I don’t think so. Teamwork is important.
I am gonna assume this is your first MOBAlike pvp game. Even if that afk person leaves and a new one joins. You will most certainly lose, that person will be lvl 1 and has to play catch up while you fight.
Unfortunately this is the elephant in the room when it comes MOBAs, the nature of the beast. This happens in every MOBA.
Why not fix the catch up game by making it so if someone joins they join in as the lowest character like if there are 3 people and one is 7, 8 and 10 and the level 8 leaves, the player who joins to take his place joins as lv 7
This would not probably work because most of the time people leave cause they are losing, so you are asking someone to join a losing game instead of a new one. This would be a horrible experience.
What? What are you saying I don’t understand?
I edited my post, sorry. Typos >.>
I’ve had my fair share of that in the past, and I don’t want to see it in Battleborn. The game is too good for a small thing like that to ruin the experience!
Well it still improves the game in general except for that circumstance
Which will happen numerous times if they add it. I pray to Olympus for this to never be added. PvP experienced will be ruined, and it would destroy the serious aspect it could have.
I like Benjamin38’s idea about giving a new player an equal level with the teammates when he comes in replacing the idled players. (This would also help speed up matchmaking.) It doesn’t have to be when the team’s losing, some players would even be idled at the very beginning and there’s still a good chance that the team can catch up with some of the changes. If not a player, then at least some bots to replace the lost players even if the AI is not that great. That’ll help at least to even the matches. I don’t play many MOBAs, League of Legends and DOTA 2 are one of the few I’ve played a bit, so you could say I’m still new to it. But when I see a problem in the game, I want to help improve it. And who knows, the ideas we give could change and influence other MOBAs from Battleborn?
Well the question here is. If you idle the whole game like that, are you rewarded with something anyway at the end of the game? if not, then I’m not sure we can do anything at all (maybe having the idle character goes “AFK” after a while and a bot take the character (but what the bot will do will NOT be added to the player’s results) to support the team.
Better than nothing.
Although, for it to work, GBX first need to fix the AI of the bots, because I’ve heard it’s absolutely useless right now.
If it’s fixed, then that could work as a solution to balance things a little. It’s similar to what happen in L4D2 for example, when you go afk or get disconnected, then the character becomes played by the AI instead. Same for a game like Empire earth 2. a player disconnect, an AI will continue playing the troops of that player.
If GBX could add something like that, that may be the best solution. Like, a player idle for 5 minutes, or remain in the base for 5 minutes, a bot play instead. Maybe less than 5 minutes.
And as long as the AI isn’t too dumb, this could even work in story mission too. If the AI isn’t good enough, then allow kicking in solo, I suppose…
I don’t see the reasoning. First, it changes it so the match is fair. In doing so, the PVP experience is helped by not being having teams handicapped. I have played MOBAS before and this problem has been there.
In regards to joining a losing team, there are people out there that will stay to help anyways.
I agree with this. I also hate the penalty of leaving a game though. I think they have some work to do on both fronts.
I believe their should be a built in idle kick after 5 minutes of not playing. However I do not want some other guy to join in… and I somehow doubt others want to join into an already half over game. There is two options.
- The player character who left is taken over by computer AI.
or
- The remaining players are given some kind of boost to stats, exp, gold gain… something to help you win while out maned.
I think that’s fair. Maybe even a voting system to decide which? I’m only concerned the AI bots will either be too good, or not good enough. You know?
I 'd have to disagree on the voting part. Asking votes in the middle of PvP is very distracting (from what I’m seeing lots of peoples are already missing a lot of vital informations on screen right now). Adding more stuff poping up in a corner of the screen doesn’t seem like a good idea. + That would mean coding both solution in the game. GBX should decide on a solution (one of those two or something else ) and that’s it ImO.
It may not satisfy everyone, but that’s still better than no solution at all.
That’s true. While I stand by that there are people that would play in the middle of a match, I think that’s been generally disagreed upon, and any help/solution would be appreciated.
This may just be me but what about a report system if a team member is just idle or just feeding or any other thing that ruins the game you can report them after the game
That too. I have reaccuring quitters, and going two people short is…frustrating.
