If Mayhem Items lvl 1-10 drop in Mayhem 10, then there needs to be a Mayhem indicator on all items

Can you show me evidence of a single piece of gear dropping below your mayhem level?

As someone with PC methods of checking gear I can promise you everything that has dropped for me has been M10 or one of the known bugged M0 drops.

You are picking at distinctions that you and you alone, have given meaning to. Until you present evidence to the contrary I see no reason to attack Gearbox on something they have not done.

There’s plenty you can fault Gearbox for in their handling of M2.0, we can get into a list of issues that need addressing. However kicking up a fuss over their wording not being to your liking seems unproductive. They have implemented a system with the intention that all gear drops at the mayhem level you’re playing at and barring the M0 drop issues they have succeeded.

Possibly because Noelle does not read every post on these forums. If you don’t believe me and want a GBX response then ping them on twitter, they are responsive there. The forums are a place Gearbox collects player feedback however outside of the Hotfix threads its very rare that they make any statements here in response to player concerns.

For my own two cents, their wording should be accurate and clear. Not only is it unclear, it’s also a trend for them to word things in such a way that players have questions. Last week the hotfix said it fixed Mayhem 4 drops for Wotan… Not Mayhem drops in general, not “Mayhem 4 and above”… just Mayhem 4. There was also some confusion about whether or not it was dedicated or world drops. “Wording not being to your liking” is far different from “Wording is unclear”.

Can you show me evidence it works on consoles? I get huge variation in my weapon drops on PS4. Some are clearly above M0, but far enough below others of the same weapon that it’s hard to blame a bad damage roll. You claim to be able to check on the PC, but anyone who pays attention knows that different platforms have slight differences in bugs.

Wording patch notes better is high on my list of things I wish Gearbox would improve. The example you bring up is a great example of how badly worded their notes can be.

Damage variations are extreme, the difference between a min damage Kaoson and a max damage Kaoson is about 3600 at MH10. When the max Kaoson is about 7500 that makes a big difference. As someone who does not own a console I couldn’t verify personally, however if you would like to send me screenshots of 2 or 3 suspect weapons I’ll happily check if its MH10.

I pay plenty of attention to what goes on in the community, this is the first thread I’ve come across stating they are not getting weapons at the same mayhem. So excuse me for being highly skeptical that its an issue not present on PC but present on atleast 1 console.

I just did, we’ll see if they respond. I’m not holding my breath.

Badly worded, or intentionally worded?

Meanwhile, you are the first person I’ve seen that was surprised by this claim. It’s also not logical to doubt bugs can happen on limited platforms. That’s the nature of bugs, and that’s why developers test each platform individually. At least, the developers that bother testing.

Then please send me a screenshot of the next MH8 or 9 gun you find at MH10.

I have farmed an obscene amount of time on nothing but M10 since the day it dropped. I have seen variations in weapon damage consistent with the variations from the old M4. I am on XBone and am extremely confident to say I have never received a weapon that wasn’t M10 from any bad guy drop in the game and have never received anything without an Anointment.

Obviously, grenades, mods, shields, chests, etc are broken…I am not talking about those items only bad guy drops.

If you have suspicion of a bug, you test it further before claiming it’s bugged. I would personally feel pretty stupid if I made a fuss of a bug, and then it turns out it’s not even bugged, it’s just weapon variance.

I have level 57 OPQ’s, all dropping while playing Mayhem 10, that range in damage from 6k x2 to 9k x2. Is it your assertion that this is related to varying gun parts, all of which are Mayhem 10?

The OPQ has 5 parts that contribute to the max damage variant, most guns have 3 or 4, as such the range is massive. Below you can see the minimum and maximum damage rolls on a M10 OPQ.

Mag size and crit damage seem to make big differences on weapon damage per shot.

Huh! Okay, then. I appreciate you showing me that. I never would have expected a 70% variance in gun damage at the same level.

If GBX is, in fact, applying the same controls to weapon drops in Mayhem 10 that they previously implemented to ensure against under leveled weapons in TVHM/Mayhem 1.0, then from their point of view there is no distinction between saying “the level in which the weapon dropped” and “the level of the weapon”.

That is quite the eye-popping difference in stats. No wonder there have been so many complaints about gear being the ‘wrong level’. Really wish the label had worked when it was first added, but I guess the issue is the sheer amount of information on the item card, especially with anointments.

Give it time, our weapons cards will look like CVS receipts

Gee, it’s almost like people are asking for more communication from the developers because we suspect bugs but have no way of confirming them. I would personally feel pretty stupid if I jumped in on a discussion and it turned out I didn’t understand it.

That way we could then constructively voice our concern that weapon scaling is trash because the variation is too high.

I can say that, as someone who seldom plays in mayhem mode at the moment, that the OPQs I’ve seen drop at vanilla plain ol’ level 57 have varied quite a bit in damage depending on the parts, 100%.

I think that might actually have been the issue. There are so many line items in the item cards that the line item for the Mayhem level was being omitted. This actually happens for the “Anointed” line item already.

I recall a post where someone mentioned seeing the Mayhem level line item in the wild a few days ago. Maybe it was silently hotfixed in (and then out) to test it out.

Gearbox is not in the habit of explaining much of their reasoning behind anything in this game.

It would be a severe design oversight to not make it so that the item card scrolls when there’s more info than what will fit in the space provided.
