I’d have 2 items. A shield called ‘Cloak’ and an always melee pistol called ‘Dagger’.
Cloak would give movement speed boost and adaptive damage reduction, both relative to amount of health remaining.
Dagger would have 300% melee damage when attacking from behind and always spawn with a melee attachment. It would come in any or no element and be classed as gun damage
If both are wielded, Cloak grants 5 seconds of invisibility on ASE and Dagger gains life-steal for 10 seconds
I was just thinking that an Atlas legendary that always targets crit spots would be awesome. Even if it had lower base damage OR fire rate, to compensate, it’d be so great. =]

It looks less like a heavy, and more like an assault rifle.
The Special Effect The Heavy Ammo behaves very similar to “The Duc” ammo, but shots that Crit have a chance to deal chaining explosive damage (Explosion jumping from Enemy to Enemy over a specified distance)
My initial thoughts on damage would probably put the hit slightly higher than the Duc, and less than most max level heavies, to make up for the fact that it has significantly less recoil.
If done properly, the hit + the explosion would both have chances to crit.

Because I’m a nerd I would make one based on an old poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
Name - Ozymandias

Stats - Deals +150% damage against named enemies and bosses. +70% critical hit damage. Secondary fire shoots a grenade that causes a localized sandstorm which damages enemies and knocks them around.

Possibly firing the weapon allows you to throw the axe, which would count as a long-distance melee attack, like the face-puncher shotgun does. Would consume no ammo, but take a short time to spawn another axe.
Name: The Wanted (or The Killer)

Red text: Shoot the wings off the flies, Wesley
Effect: Gives all bullets a slight homing effect. The faster you move, the greater the effect. While sliding, the effect is increased further.
The point is that the faster you move, the harder it is to aim, so if you miss slightly, this would curve the bullet a little (like in the comic/film Wanted) towards any enemy, allowing you to hit them easier.

Red Text: “This weapon is banned and should be brought in if found”
Effect: This Tediore Shotgun will NOT be able to be thrown on reload unlike other variations and instead will reload like normal. This weapon will host 5 bullets per mag.
Upon reload gain :
+1200% damage
+1600% projectile speed
+6400% more critical hit damage
+300% Increase in mag size
+9540% more splash damage
+2% Healing
This weapon will also prevent the user from using their action skills and will increase agro.
