I'm done for now

Hey man, I feel for you. If you can stomach the fps, are on ps4 and are willing to give the game another chance you can add me if you want. (tag: supadedupe). I do well enough for myself and know how to win games.

Do you have a mic? Have you tried forming a team of your own? I have had no trouble with randoms or premades. I play both and the ability to talk and communicate with your team is priceless. EVEN IF YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE TALKING IT HELPS. Phoebe get behind the team and hitting snipers. CALL IT. Their whole team move to one side to gank and you see them moving, CALL IT. See an invisible Shane coming in to assassinate you, CALL IT. About to die but could live if your team knew you needed help? CALL IT. A mic makes all the difference in this game. Don’t have a mic? This game has a ping function. R3 on ps4. USE IT AND USE IT OFTEN. Your win percentage will jump exponentially if you communicate with your team randoms or premades.

Feel free to add me if your on ps4 I’ll help you get some wins.

Psn: TubaofStealth

Tuba, is it ok if I add you? Can’t hurt to have another mic user in my list.

Yeah feel free to add me

7 and 160?
Dude, you should be commended for hanging in as long as you did. A trophy or something.

Rank really doesn’t matter here because you level up in the battle and gear both costs shards to activate and should come second to turrets and accelerators. A coordinated team does have a big advantage but not always plus anyone can put in a headset and talk with the randoms your matched with

How can you tell if you’re playing a premade? Genuinely asking because I’ve played a fair bit of PvP and wouldn’t even know how to tell. I just play against whoever is on the opposite team without giving it much thought. I’m from Aus too, so I’m just happy enough to connect to a game at all :disappointed_relieved:

Look to the right of the names. See a yellow bar connecting names? Any connected names are in a party

Cheers! Can’t say I’ve noticed anything like that before, but now I know what to look for!

I agree with OP entirely and feel the exact same way. The beta had me extremely excited for this game - it’s the first game I’ve actually preordered in years - but I’ve been very disappointed by the atrocious pvp matchmaking, as well as performance issues (the beta actually seemed to run BETTER than the retail release for a lot of people, myself included. my fps on The Saboteur, and Echelon to a lesser extent, are flat out unacceptable.)

There is simply no reason to pit a full premade against a group of randoms, even if there’s a dual queue in that group now and again. The number of times I have been expected to play against a complete premade as a solo queue player is outrageous, and increasing the quantity of matches at the expense of their quality is not a sound strategy when the matches themselves last so long. Longer queue times might be annoying, but they don’t foment feelings of disgust and dissatisfaction like being repeatedly crushed by a full premade.

Given that the OP is already obviously experienced with objective-based fps games, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the posts giving them suggestions to communicate better in-game, etc. totally miss the point of this thread. It’s bad faith to assume they aren’t already doing their best in that regard, when the truth of the matter is that it’s often nearly impossible to herd cats (I can rarely get most randoms to follow my polite instructions or even respond to me in-game when I try to communicate, aside from ping spamming) and not all of us have several, or even ANY, friends playing this game right now.

Although a matchmaking systems that takes premades into account would be great, the simplest solution to the problem right at this moment is to just find some people to play with. Through the power of the internet that is not that hard, really.

I just asked people politely if they had a mic to turn on on launchday. Every other game someone popped in a mic and now I do have people in my friendlist who play the game and have mics.

One of them made a community which has over a 100 people in it now. If you want I can invite you and anyone else who wants to join that community (on ps4). If you’re not on ps4 I’d say these (or other) forums are great places to find people to play with.

Unfortunately, the “simplest solution” is actually just not playing the game. Proper matchmaking is required or the pvp element will die, which would be quite a deleterious outcome. I very much want this game to succeed, but several balls have been dropped here.

I have been obsessed with the game since the beta, but today we have been trying all day just to simply beat the prologue on my wifes account and have had to redo it over and over and over and over due to disconnects. I really think I could have had a hope of getting my wife to jump on the bandwagon here and be a loyal player, but after todays massive disappointment, I am tempted to jump off that wagon myself. I am disappointed and embarrassed to have shown so much support for this game when these sever issues are so severe that I am ashamed of myself for practically begging her to get the game just so I can play for maybe 15 minutes at a time before I am booted back to main screen only to have to start all over again, and again, and again. seriously, wtf guys.

This doesn’t solve the main issue, but you can unlock Toby playing story missions.

Indeed, I removed the paragraph where I described the last match I got, as an example. Rank is not an accurate portrayal of skill, but it works as a baseline. There is also the fact that a person whose rank is 40 most probably has more experience in the game than someone who is rank 2. Playing PvE still lets you learn the character and their kit. While playing against other players needs more strategy than PvE, you can still learn "the basics."
At the start of the match someone in my team mentioned only playing 6 games so far, and other one was trying out a character for the first time. Of course some low rank people might have been playing in the Open Beta or CTT (like me), but generally they probably don’t have as much game time as higher ranked people.

Two in our team were using mics and everyone was using the chat so we did try to communicate. Unfortunately we still lost by I think 130 to 500. Only two in our team were able to keep up in levels, too. By the time me and another one in our team were level 6 and 7, the enemy had level eights and we still had level twos.

Your success rate will be better if you play in premades, true, but with this matchmaking, I don’t want to! And I shouldn’t be forced to, either. Solo players should be able to have a Good Time. Premades too. Pubstomping is not fun for anyone. (Or maybe for people whose w/l or k/d ratio get their e-peen hard.)

Not playing the game is not a solution in my eyes. It is an option ofcourse. Back in the day there was no such thing as matchmaking systems. People were in groups all the time and they did it the old fashioned way. The old fashioned way is always available in every multiplayer game.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I’m still amazed by the maturity and intelligence of the community in BB,part of me was dreading the !git gud " posters and other nonsense but the replies here have been very encouraging.

I’ve played many a game over the years and when things don’t work out or collapse I tend to just accept it’s sometimes the nature of online games and move on,and try another one.

This game for me is just so good and satisfying for it not to work properly is definately the root of my frustration.

The reason I posted which I rarely do for games (superlurker), was to share my experiences and feeling with the current release in the hope that other people could share their experiences in a mature and constructive way and perhaps a Dev reads it and givs insight into the state of play for some of the community.

From what I read everyone has been very helpful in their replies to me and others who have posted, some are definately helpful, and thanks to you Doritos for the group invite sadly i’m a pure PC gamer or I would in a heartbeat.

I’m definately not leaving i’ll sit and wait to see what they do,today i’m going to PVE and unlock Toby the Penguin thanks Misguided for the tip so maybe Penguin power will cheer me up some.

Again I hope this thread can stay constructive and be a help to people in a similar situation.

Thanks again for all the posts guys you rock ;p

Glad you’re at least trying to stick around, friend. Have fun with Toby, his kit is a bit clunky but it can be an absolute beast in PvP if you handle your shield and helixes right.

Here’s hoping you have better luck with wins in the future! As a side note, perhaps try communicating with some randoms? I may have mentioned it before, but I make it a habit whenever I’m playing solo to invite the rest of the team to the party and see who takes me up on it, as most people are generally open for communication. My W/L ratio skyrocketed after I got a stable of people to play with.

You may be getting stomped by premade teams right now, so why not try the same thing and communicate with your fellow players? You know, 'if you can’t beat 'em, join ‘em,’ you’ll find a good team to be one of your best assets.

Plus, it guarantees having a stable of players to team up with and talk to whenever you’re online, so that’s fun too.

So basically, you assembled enough people for a premade, and now your W/L skyrocketed because you are the premade that’s stomping randoms. Well done.

The problem is (my subjective experience is on PC), most randoms don’t even respond to communication and instruction, let alone turn out to be people you add to your friends list to play with later. Several posts up, it’s explicitly lamented how difficult it is to try and get randoms to play properly together versus a premade team.

This game NEEDS real matchmaking or it’s dead in the water.
