Yes. That’s what I picture. Though, this time, if there’s an NPC helping me, HE BETTER BE A GOOD CO-OP PARTNER FOR ONCE. NPC Roland is the fricking worst as a co-op player. He steals your kills as you’re fighting for a second wind. He doesn’t ever try to res you. Etc… I think that if the AI is helping you, it needs to be “realistic” and literally pretend to be a co-op buddy while he’s around.
Speaking of which, the Diablo 3 companion thing would be a cool addition. Could work well with the “gonna need every vaulthunter you can get” theme.
Personally I wouldn’t mind having some or all of the old classes playable. I just can’t picture how that might alter the game structure.
But I absolutely love the idea of being able to run through BL1 or BL2 as Nisha or Jack, for example. So I’d love to see the following:
Once you beat BL3 you would unlock the player classes from BL1, BL2 and TPS and you’d unlock all the areas, enemies and bosses from all the old games and from BL3. It would make it the ultimate Borderlands. The idea would be that it’s accepted or understand that it’s not canon. In fact they could call it non-canon mode if need be. Perhaps it would be like adventure mode in Diablo 3. You could get random bounties/targets to go kill or just explore/kill/farm as you like. Want to go try out killing the Destroyer as Claptrap? Go right ahead. How about facing Crawmerax as Nisha or Jack (YEA!!! Take that!). Or want to take on some of the new BL3 content but as Lilith (because phasewalking is badass)?
So, while I love the idea, it could certainly be challenging to implement. It’s probably not as easy as “import old assets and tweak it until it functions” for the classes or the maps. But man I’d love this.
No matter what they do I hope they come up with a better solution for getting classmods in BL3.
