Instagram post says Guardian Takedown postponed

Searched the EULA warranty section to see whether GBX’s decision to stop providing patches for their game because of reasons not part of the EULA is ground for refund and found this:

“Licensor does not warrant against interference with your enjoyment of the Software; that the Software will meet your requirements; that operation of the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free; or that the Software will be compatible with third-party software or hardware or that any errors in the Software will be corrected.”

GBX does not need to fix bugs. Nothing to see here, move along folks.

edited because my wording was poor and forum bot got angry.

I’m cool with the message and the postponement of the guardian takedown but still DROP THE PATCH ! Like we really need this ASAP. I haven’t played this game in 3 weeks.

I have been giving gearbox the benefit of the doubt for a month now and was really looking forward to mayhem 2.0 being fixed. When I heard it was delayed, I figured there was a few bugs they had to iron out and it would take a couple days. And then I find out it is being delayed because of virtue signaling…

What does any of that have to do with video games? This might be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. What a ■■■■■■■ disappointment…

Ahhh the words that were said when I was born,… brings back memories.

Whats disapointing is the lack of communication from official sources

They are the same thing, so that can’t happen. If GBX wanted to split out the update into two halves like that, I’m guessing they might have to send it back to MS/Sony for recertification? Either way, at this stage it’s simply not possible.

It shouldn’t be delayed to begin with. Borderlands 3 has been coasting closer and closer to the ground in desperate need of fixing. Many of the core aspects of the game, such as action skills, are COMPLETELY NONFUNCTIONAL. They are delusional if they think we are going to happily sit by while they postpone a crucial update for a matter that doesn’t concern them.

Anyone is free to check my posts. I have been very hopeful for mayhem 2.0. But this game is DEAD TO ME until they get their ■■■■ together.

Leave this to Gearbox to handle the situation. Patch can’t be installed separately from guardian takedown. Leave it alone until they address the outcome until all this is over with. You thinking too much of yourself waiting the game to be fixed. Doesn’t work like that.

So because they’re game developers, they aren’t allowed to concern themselves with human rights issues?

I believe people can have more than one interest.

Yup pretty much this and more.

Miss me with that nonsense. I can’t just walk off the job the moment I feel like earning brownie points. My boss would have every right to write me up. What a farce.

First of all let me say that I support the protests, hell I was out in my city 3 of the last 6 nights people were on the street protesting! However, it is pathetic how this was handled by GB. This game is in a virtually unplayable state, I haven’t touched it in weeks and see no reason to come back until endgame content is actually enjoyable.
That said, I certainly don’t want them releasing content that isn’t ready but it’s totally disingenuous to blame this on the protests especially without further explanation. Posting on twitter and other social media lacking any context or additional information is a terrible public relations move. I would have been fine with an announcement saying “we messed up and need more time, please bear with us” but it makes no sense to attribute this to the protest. If you want to make a difference, great, give money. 1 million is nice, but not that much really, how about organizing a fundraiser through an in game mechanic if they really want to do something useful?
My point is, BL3 and its updates have been very poorly handled by GB and this is another fine example of how little they care about their player base. Why would they I suppose, already have our money. I’ll think long and hard about buying from them again.
People have made plenty of excuses for GB over this but they mostly fall pretty flat for me.
Don’t want to distract from the importance of the issues of police brutality and racism? Then why only delay a patch, and why continue releasing other games and content, and did I miss the message that all gaming was getting turned off. People like myself need a break, but I guess I will have to look elsewhere.
Want to honor people of color on staff at GB? SAY THAT SOMEWHERE, but I guess one tweet is good enough to get them some likes and publicity.
I have no problem with a company taking a political stance, in fact I think it’s good. Shallowly using the issues of police brutality and systemic racism along with civil unrest as cover for the crap way they’ve handled this games issues and updates it not just ineffective but in my opinion actually insulting to the memory of those including George Floyd who have suffered and died at the hands of police.
You $h*t not ready gearbox? Have the balls to admit the mistake and move forward as best you can. There is no reason to conflate GB’s problems getting their content fixed with the political issues in the US at this time.
It’s stuff like this that makes me question the wisdom of buying this game and it’s DLC, and seriously think about how much time is worth putting into BL3 in the future. After all this(all the patch issues, not the political message), can we really expect them to act like a professional and effective game developer in the future?

The difference between those two situations being that you answer to your boss - Gearbox does not answer to you.

Off topic and I apologize but I have to confess to playing too much BL3 because as I read your post and got to that bit the questioning voice in the back of my mind asked.

“Turd Farmer”?

As you were people.

Didn’t GBX just honor a racist person with HP Lovecraft DLC?

To be fair, they can’t really win on this point. Because the patch being delayed was coupled with the announcement that they were donating 1 million, people are going to not care as much about the money, or believe it’s too little because they are upset about the delay. I’m not against giving GB an earful when they deserve it, but there are also times they do things and just shredded because people are pissed. They are putting their money where their mouth is on this, so I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt on that front at least.

As to the rest, I don’t know about most of you, but after waiting 10 months for action skills to be scaled and barely playing over the past month, I don’t really care if it’s being pushed back. If they are using the protests as an excuse, then they get called out for it, which is what people are assuming is the case and is happening anyway. But if they say they need more time, then we lose our collective ■■■■ about how they didn’t keep their promise and lied to us again and we need the distraction. So there is really no way GB can go about this and not be eviscerated. So whether the patch is ready and they’re withholding it to make a statement or it isn’t ready and they’re using the protests to cover it up, as long as that charity of their’s actually does good work and the money is put to use then I couldn’t care less about the game getting updated right now. GB is going to be in the wrong no matter what they do and tbh the patch will probably introduce new issues because they usually do, so I just look at as 2K spending a million dollars to buy themselves some time, and the charity is a great way to do it if done right.

BTW, @Noelle_GBX I don’t know if you’d be able to answer this or if you are privy to the information, but from what I see the 2K foundation funds basketball programs and STEM education. Is there a list of recently completed projects or testimonials about the programs? It’s not as if these are tax funded, but I am curious what kind of projects the money will be going towards.

Nothing on that since 2018.
