Really hope you find a L. Hoarder mod some where along the way- good luck. Two questions: 1- will this be a one life to live run and 2- will you be doing any of the dlc’s or just the main story campaign?

Not sure what you mean by the first ( if you mean one life and if I die, that’s it, then no…I think I’ve already made it hard enough, lol ).
As to the second, I’ve been considering it. I originally thought NO, base game only, but I haven’t pinned it down yet.
The real trouble will be in UVHM where money is a huge issue, and it would at least be nice to hit up the DLC’s once under the same guidelines.

Setting some ground rules around a complete playthrough is a lot of fun …mostly! I’m OK with the gear, ammo and farming rules, but the ammo upgrades will most likely make things really difficult in UVHM. I can think of a couple of missions when it can turn out to be an issue even in TVHM. But I salute the initiative! I would also encourage you to try and level up every Goliath you see into a GOD-liath. They drop blue and purple stuff. I’m also assuming that the Golden chest is off-limits.

Only in Ultimate; you can get by with found equipment in Normal and True.

I’d say black market is fine, u still need to find the iridium.
Also allow use of slots because you found the cash and If you want to gamble it when ur going to need to frequently buy ammo thats ur call. I’d only say true ironman should be no gold chest

Updates:
Sal has proven to be the wisest choice, ammo consumption wise.
UVHM: The rules need to be tweaked (this is an experiment after all).
SAL ONLY: I haven’t the need for the ammo upgrades as of yet, though more grenades would have been nice. The real issue has been backpack storage and going broke. The backpack space can be “exploited” through the guaranteed mission reward however, so this too can be overcome (to a point).
Other Chars Trying this: The rules would have to include BlackMarket Upgrades if just to make it more equitable. The only other way to increase ammo capacity is through relics ( which I luckily found ). I say steer clear until UVHM.
I’m keeping all upgrades off limits until reaching UVHM, then as with many have said…just playing the game becomes an issue, lol. ( can’t remember the last time I was butchered by a bullyrot 3 times in a row ).
I decided & Golden Keys are off limits as they are non-native to natural gameplay. An exception could be made for farming in UVHM ( within reason ) and/or allowing access to DLC content playthrough in order to supplement gear.

@Gulfwulf Again agreed ( as I soon found out ). I don’t mind allowing them, but I’m going to stay away unless absolutely necessary…and yes, only in UVHM ( which is where I am now ).

@kenloe Sal hasn’t needed the extra but it would be have to be available to other chars that can’t regen.
@bromking The slots is a great idea. I never use them, so I completely forgot about them.
ALSO: Just remembered. Slight tweak…purchased gear is OK. I haven’t done it yet, but it seems like a silly limitation. I’m in the habit of not buying gear from the vending machines unless it’s a mission requirement ( shielded favors ) or sometimes the Torgue machines. After the mention of using slots, which made TOO much sense, it wouldn’t make sense to limit vending purchases.

Just making sure - any found relics are only for UVHM, or only those that affect ammo supplies?

Nah…if you find a relic/gun/shield…use it…any mode. With all the other limitations ( especially my BAR…oh how I miss my BAR ) get your hands on anything that drops that you can use.
With a new character you have to get at least one once you talk to Scooter upon arriving in Sanctuary. Don’t think this can be skipped unless you buy all the upgrades…
Are you doing side missions and using quest reward guns?
