Is BL3 "there" yet, for you?

try editors for the easiest option :d

I play on console and like to farm my own gear so the anointment reroll machine is actually a big ■■■■■■■ deal. I’ll finally be able to equip my dozen or so characters with the gear I want without spending 30+ hours save/quitting for a single gun/anointment combo. If the rerolls don’t cost a ridiculous amount this single addition will make end game about 10x as fun for me. So it could be an amazing update if done right. But that being said there are still half a dozen other big issues I have with the game and I doubt those will be addressed so while the update might give me a couple hundred more hours of gameplay between all of my characters, it still won’t be “there.” But maybe that’s okay and I should just learn to live with it cuz I’ve had many fun hours from this game. Just not as many as I’d hoped.

Yeah, a proper roguelike, with a sense of progression with each death, would be more interesting to me than this battle royale posing as roguelike.

Its not necessary
The game just needs better balance overall
I am talking about no scaling at all
Neither skills nor weapons
When you come from a point where you just take what you have and everything was able to be a viable build against your base game enemies and then turn up their HP (and possibly their damage)
It’s up to the player to refine their gear and skill choices to make this possible
That’s “difficulty”
And it should be optional
Not mandatory to have access to exclusive content
In a “diablo” style game
You as a player make your character stronger
Not the devs

If melee wasn’t playable vanilla then how the fk is it playable now in vanilla difficulty if it’s only scaled to mayhem?

That’s the completely wrong approach
Instead of actually fixing the game, they are just trying to make “everything possible” in endgame with cranking up the numbers?
And they don’t even care about new players casually playing through the game for the first time, hoping for a balanced experience?

It’s exactly because they (at least used to) care about those new players that mayhem scaling was implemented. Action Skills, melee, and pets have far fewer multipliers on gear than guns, so you as a player have limited ability to make them stronger. However, if GBX balances them around being strong at the endgame (M10) then they decimate the lower levels. See how busted IB is in non-mayhem now after that final round of buffs before m2.0? That is where your mentality leads.

Anyway, to answer the OP, new DLC does nothing for me. My biggest gripe with this game has always been bug fixes and inconsistent/arbitrary balancing choices, and unless this patch comes with massive fixes to the list of bugs that have been maintained for FL4K since November of last year (especially the dozen or so introduced with DLC 5), it won’t do anything for me.

Well this is the area to cover

And this is the nonsense they are doing

IMHO, that’s what Vault Cards are going to be.

And to original question - BL3 was ‘there’ for me for the last year or so. If you are into variety of play styles and options - there is tons of it, especially on Normal and lower Mayhem levels. Even M11 is not that overwhelming away from Takedowns and what not.

If you are mostly into difficulty (and refuse to come up with your own ways to increase it) - BL3 is probably not your cup of tea.

Oh I am modding the game more difficult for me
But I would prefer the people getting paid for it to do their job instead of myself

They haven’t ditched M2.0 yet.

^^ This, I have yet to be able to enjoy the game with the couch co-op feature I bought it for.

Game’s mostly pretty good to me, but there’s some pretty glaring problems.

The game lacks content. I would like more Takedowns and Raids. I also would like to be able to choose modifiers. M10 with Speed Demon/Healy Avenger/Drone Ranger/Post-Mortem is way better than M11 imo. But there’s some really nasty ones (like immunity to elements, Floor is Lava, Rogue-lite, whatnot). I don’t particularly like Holy Crit but it’s used for Lucky 7 speedruns through TGTD and is beneficial to Fade Away FL4K, so I can see why others might. People here say Mayhem 2.0 has terrible balancing but I do like some of the modifiers.

Also, plenty of glitches. Had to deal with both progression blockers and connectivity issues. Almost dropped the game when I realized I couldn’t connect with a friend I was planning to play this with. Both of us got hit with the “Fatal Error” crash box when launching BL3 before too. Some people could never fix those problems despite doing the same things I did. That’s not including all the other little glitches in the game that combine into an unpleasant experience (i.e. the repeating lines like on Skywell-27 or whenever you fast travel to specific areas like The Handsome Jackpot).

I did see that there was an attempt at fixing Loader Bot’s skin glitch in a recent hotfix, so at least that was noticed. Only colors though lol.

Being that they have yet to fix the console crashes…NOPE. The local co-op is still in beta form, matchmaking is lackluster. No this game is no where near “there” for myself and many others and short of GBX pulling a hail mary here this week don’t see it changing anytime soon. My money and time is better spent on other companies products.

Difficulty =/= bad design disabling valid build options
and design is indeed dev job

If you want to get me started with bad design, it is when you define a character archetype but make this archetype non competitive at the higher difficulty, because of flawed design.

It is exactly what happened to Amara melee and Fl4k summoner type builds.
Melee and pets are not niche builds for those characters they are the very essence of those characters and what they were advertised for. Saying that melee build should be vanilla only is like I d say to you: " splash damage is not viable at higher difficulty for Moze now go to kindergarten vanilla play with Moze explosive build"

It was approximately ok at mayhem 1, some people clamored for mayhem 2 and they had it, now there is no turning back.

for pc people that is, there are some plebs on console like me

true, at this point removing anointments completely wouldn’t work (or they should just copy paste the redux mod)

but they could however tone them down quite a bit, buff normal guns toward legendary numbers (ofcourse not pushing them over but at least be viable compared to legendaries) remove weapon scaling from weapons (this on top of anointments made difficulty scaling pretty much mute)

the anointment reroll will make it so that people will be able to 1shot everything on M10/11 even faster. This will not bode well for longevity of the game.

We still have to see the game after the patch, which could be the last we see for a while so it might be worth to wait before, maybe they have something in mind for balancing the 4 vh better

It was when Mayhem 1 was around. As it stands, if I buy another big size game on the Xbox this will have to make way for it.

Since Mayhem 2 we had a lot of fixes, DLC 3, 4 and 5. Even if they have made the best dlc in borderlands history with one of those and I would say that it is not in the best state.

With them needing to scale gear up to M10 it makes new playthroughs pointless. Old M4 nothing scaled but was doable if you get your build to work.

There are other ways to make games difficult without 10k x health. Just Gearbox has not worked that out.

My take on the re-roll machine is that I would like it to have a level up function for all weapons, but especially the fun weapons that came out of the prior DLC’s. That would be new life for BL3 play.
