Is Thorn Too Strong?

For instance:

And I didn’t even land the curse on Miko.

Edit: Curse gives you 35% more damage to all skills/attacks for those who don’t know.

This is a little off topic but there seem to be a few good thorn players on this thread n I was just curious whats your highest accuracy in a game with her arrows…mines 70% I thought it was really good but just wanted to figure out if other players think that’s good or just pretty average for a good thorn player

Where would it say this? I think mine is 70% as well, but that might be overall accuracy. When I go to Thorn in command, then scroll over to stats on the right it says accuracy-70%. However, I haven’t gotten that good with the arrows yet. I’m still off and on with them.

Edit: I’ll look when I get home and let you know for sure.

It should be in the stats it will say best accuracy or something like that…now that you mention it it might mean overall accuracy n if that’s the case I feel like an idiot haha

Yeah but this applies to a lot of characters, if you get where they can hit you with that much, Rath, OM, Orendi, a lot of characters will die fast if you hit them with 2 skills and an ulti.

82%

@Derch I know you are a Thorn player. I’ve watched a vid where you played her. What’re your thoughts? You don’t think she’s a little too strong?

She’s def my new fav and once I get the arrows down I feel like i will be unstoppable.

I don’t think she is too strong at all, I’ve never seen teams win or loose because of her.

She usually leads in the damage but that isn’t because she is killing all the players its because she is killing so many minions.

Most times she hits so hard when I land a shot the enemy runs because they are down so far.

So I don’t get crazy high kill streaks with her and against good players if I really push in to far they will kill me for it. So she has to pick her spots to deal her big damage.

If thorn gets stunned thorn dies, if thorn gets slowed you also will most likely die.

See, I have the opposite experience.

Leading in damage, minions, etc with 12-15 kills and 1-3 deaths pretty much every game.

However, I do run her with a crapload of Max health so I can survive stuns and slows, etc

I think I’ve died everytime Galilea has hit me with her shield, I’ve escaped some rath knock-ups and some slows but it drastically increases my chances to die.

I’ve had many games when both teams combined Kills are >15

Yeah Idk, I usually survive it post nerf, but I run gear that gives me 2400 health mid game and 2600 health late game with Thorn. Now a chain CC I’m usually done for, but even then sometimes I can get away. I do love Thorn haha.

I respect your opinion either way.

You know I don’t know how many times I’ve been stunned by her post nerf now that you mention it

Yeah I don’t get stunned by her much now. Usually Gali’s I play against leave half way through the game once they realize they can’t yoloswag 3v1 anymore.

Thron needs a nerf…Ive been pointing this out for a while now…Her aoe with a slow is too much that its an affective kill tool and insta wave clear…I had 101 minion kills with 15 mins left in a game
ridiculous
maybe 10 mins

Yeah but its her only CC and its on a helix

Galilea has a pull, stun, silence, anti heal
Shayne and Aurox have a pull, stun, knock up, slow and multiples of some
Kleese has slow and a pull
Rath has knock up, slow, silence
Kelvin has multiple slows
Cal has blind and slow
Attikus has slow, knock back, knock up, and stun

I could go on…

But I don’t think having access to one CC, yes its good but its one is broken. For minions yeah she is one of the best in the game for clearing them, but the range on it is not that great and players should be able to get out of it

Yeah she’s def A tier, S tier in my book. And usually all the tier list I read say A tier could use some tweaking. I’m not sure how or what they would change though. My thought was taking the curse ability off of a volley so you don’t get the curse bonus so easily, but that would primarily effect players, not minions.

attikus is a no concern character, gali is solid post nerf, I have no problem with her as melee characters are at a disadvantage inherently, shaynes damage output is lower as she is tankier, Kleese is vulnerable/Has no escape, Kelvin is actually really good in the hands of a compitent team, But rouge is usually awful, Cal has low hp with no regen and a skirmisher that has to put out constant damage to accomplish anything, and as a whole none of them have aoe on that level, Of course they can escape it but the slow does its job+decent damage+clear cooldown is pretty good, I woldnt even consider it on a helix…Why wouldnt you pick it honestly…It might as well be the only option

oscar mike is the only person you should compare her to as this is more about the fact that it is great across the board at clear and damage and finisher/slow, and she has a regenn that is honestly better than shield, She has high movement constantly…Shes unmatched and hard to catch.

I think taking away her one CC would really hurt her and I would bring her far less into pvp I know, with pretty much every character with one form of it that would be a hard hit.

I dont want her slow gone, I want the damage reduced so throughout the game from level 1-10 it cannot one skill clear a wave consistently as well as be great as its other functions and a helix reduction from 6 sec aoe to 4 as you can murder spider sentry so effortlessly with it.

I would say that Thorn is strong in the hands of an experienced player, But I wouldn’t say she is overpowered. She has some great tools in her kit that allow for some great burst potential and wave clear along with mobility helix choices, giving her a lot of options in how to start and escape engagements. However, Thorn has relatively low health and health regeneration without gear making her more of a glass cannon in combat. This makes her a sitting duck if she becomes stunned or slowed and is where a lot of Thorns get picked out and focused. Knock ups are also an issue for Thorn, but can be remedied with burst propulsion at helix level 3 to change direction in the air and escape. She is powerful but not invincible, knowing how to counter her properly can stop her dead in her tracks.
