Is Torgue Cross Promotion Worth It

mine too! they’re what keeps my bear alive in my blast master SoR build. the low fuel cost is nice too

TCP is very useful for any bear focused build. Turns auto bear into artillery. I changed my Torgue build to use it instead of extra grenades, and I’m getting far more utility from my Juliet’s Dazzle ricochet explosions, and throwing a cmt in a hallway is instant flakker. Brutal. It’s situational though, definitely.

I have to admit that your split build has gotten me thinking a lot about skill point allocations, class mods, and the relative ROI you get from the all of the different Bear damage bonuses.

I mean, is a full spec into SRPMs and Specialist Bear really worth it if you are also using a +5 SRPMs GM? What if the class mod rolls bonus splash damage?

I…I don’t know. I’m messing with a few things. I just realized I need to check whether Specialist affects Dakka (because, seriously, that’s the kind of thing that would happen in this game). But I’m testing a combo of Target Softening with Sabot. The issue is that, when you bump the numbers up this high, percentage basis do some bonkers stuff.

Example: with a Splash damage on Com, specialist Bear makes the sabot explosion splash damage 24k. Without specialist, it’s 19k. (In my build with maxed out GM Splash boost). This is Corrosive damage…on flesh.

That’s 5k in difference for every round. That’s a lot when you really think about it.

Now, target Softening will boost my Ember’s Blaze damage (my numbers added about 1250 damage per tick) and I’ll never get the numbers from my grenade. But it comes at: the cost of slightly more fuel. And also…I got so used to how double Sabot felt, that any other thing FEELS weird.

The end result is: it really depends. Specialist Bear basically really improves efficiency and consistency, but other methods can be just as good, if very different.

Part of the issue for me is that 2/5 in Vampyr feels too squishy.

Well, as SpaceRobots said, three skill points means they can fill out Vampyr. But I’ve been running two on Vampyr for a few weeks and it’s been pretty decent. However, Moxxi Pair is a Generator and a Transfusion, so…that’s not fair. I’m also relying on big explosions hitting multiple enemies to bump the percentages up.

To bring it back on topic, that’s one of my selling points for TCP. Bigger radius means more enemies per hit means more heals. Because Vampyr is based on Amount of Enemies hit. I need to test how it works with Bear. But I definitely see a big return when I nuke a whole swarm of enemies. And Next to nothing when I focus on a lone enemy.

However, should be noted: Moxxi’s pair kills me more than any enemies do. As I say in almost every session with SpaceRobots: no one kills me but me…and Corrosive deathspheres

Update: Specialist Bear doesn’t affect Dakka.

Okay. So. At two points, Moze gets 8 percent missing health back per enemy hit, and Bear gets 4.

So. When Bear hits five enemies. That’s 20 Percent. Moze hits five, this is 40.

With five points, Bear might never be low on health…huh. Well. I think I’m gonna be sticking with Specialist and adding my five points to a combo of SSB and Vampyr.

I need you in my matchmaking, I hate that dropping like flies bs.

Silly goose. It’s one of the top 3 IB weapons because it can do splash.

To op, personally I don’t care what anyone says TCP is the worst skill in the game and should be very very heavily considered when speccing into.

1st, at 5/5 it’s a complete waste of points over literally any other option Moze has. There’s such a little benefit to having the larger radius, with huge downsides. Why do I need a 15% chance to double my explosion radius?

The chance is low enough you can’t rely on it whatsoever (even at 10/5) so you’re forced to play as if it’s not specced into and treat it as a kind of bonus that can happen. But it’s an awful unexpected bonus that just strips your shields or puts you in FFYL. Self inflicted damage bypasses health gate.

2nd you can increase radius significantly enough, and consistently 100% of the time with bonus stats on mods and artifacts. What if your top tier mod and artifact don’t have the bonus? Who cares, use the worse ones. If you’re willing to waste 5 points on TCP you’re probably not concerned about optimizing your build.

TCP just makes me angry to talk about haha. I consider it one of the worst skills in borderlands history, period. Like just shoot 2 or 3 bullets instead of trying to anticipate a huge random radius.

The best use for TCP is firing the Jericho with Some for the Road… If you want to kill yourself and every co-op partner instantly. This is sarcasm, it’s ridiculous.

You were right, Moxxi’s BP made a huge difference when combined with a Mendel’s. Made it to Wotan on the first try; downed me at the start of the third phase.
