I am aware of a few games that the developers have plainly been unable to accommodate for a gog release because of the multilayer. Even with Galaxy (Wasn’t available then) there would be extra time needed to be dedicated to implementing that kind of cross platform compatibility. Some games will just not have the developer time to do it (again for various unfortunate but very valid reasons)
If it is possible and it’s feasible I do hope GBX is able to do a gog release, more HW players is never a bad thing after all! But they are at the end of the day under 0 obligation to do a gog release as this thread insinuates at the start. I’ve seen some interesting arguments to try and force developers to make games available on gog that make this thread look like child’s play.
One thing that IS closely tied to steam though as far as I understand is the mod tools. It sounds like modding, especially MP friendly mods, are going to be very closely tied to the steam workshop. I do not know how that will work with a gog release and is something that might make a gog release (or at least a MP compatible release) unfeasible. Mods are going to be this game’s lifeblood, much like the originals so that will most likely be GBXs primary concern when it comes to releasing HWR on gog (though I obviously don’t speak for GBX
