It's time to ship

The game has been released now for a few months and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to ship some characters (and by ship, I don’t mean to ship them off to Bliss). Seeing as fan fiction is one thing Battleborn lacks, I have taken it upon myself to make a list of characters that should really think about, as Beyoncé would say, “put a lemonade on it.”

Before I start, I know there are already romance in Battleborn. Ghalt and Reyna for example and Deande and Whiskey Foxtrot (I hate how much that pairing makes sense) as well as Oscar Mike and Oscar Mike.

You are all very welcome to join in on the fun. You probably might even get really into it and start naming the couple’s children. That’s weird. Don’t do that.

Couples that we should see together are:

 • Alani & Pendles (Pendani?)
 • Ghalt & Oscar Miiiii- I mean…
 • Thorn & Toby (Thornoby?)
 • Deande & Caldarius (Calande?)
 • Rath & Phoebe
 • Rendain & Ambra
 • Mellka & Ghalt (Malk-ta? No?)
 • Nova & ISIC
 • Geoff & ISIC
 • and Alani & Kelvin as friends.

Well lore wise deande likes whiskey foxtrot Orendi likes Toby and ghalt likes Reyna so boom there’s three

The sentry in incursion actually mentions having a date with Nova later. So there’s that.

Aside from the fact that they’re both from Akopos, I’m not seeing anything that would suggest they’d be a couple. Alani is introverted, introspective, and coping with seeing her entire planet killed right before her eyes and being able to do nothing to stop it. Pendles is a jovial sociopathic mass murderer.

Not seeing this, either. I don’t know if OM has expressed any interest in anyone except for OM or WF (e.g. he’s a clone-sexual), and, considering how oblivious Ghalt is to all of Reyna’s stuff, I’m really not seeing anything between him and OM.

I can see them being friends because they’ve both got anger issues, but Thorn doesn’t really seem like the type to find “cute” to be appealing in any way. Even as a child, Thorn was an angry little isolated survivalist that is all about nature. Toby is an angry but apologetic little cutie who’s all about technology.

The only way this is gonna happen is if they’re simply hate-■■■■-ing each other. Or, at least, Caldarius. Because he really doesn’t like Deande (even after she lead the team to rescue him; his thanks to her was super reluctant).

This I can see because they both like fighting and swords. Also, Phoebe seems like the kind of girl that would like to date an older man.

Ambra hates Rendain because Rendain doesn’t follow the rules. One of her lores is basically her explaining in prolific detail exactly why she hates Rendain. Ambra is super-duper neurotic.

That seems a little too incest-y to me. They’re like brother and sister, or father and daughter (uncle and neice?). Either way, there’s more of a familial/platonic relationship there than there is a romantic one.

Not entirely sure what to think of this one. The feeling I get from Nova is that she would see ISIC’s emotionless and murderous tendencies as a turn off. I’m pretty sure ISIC would see Nova as someone that he wants to kill because she works closely with Kleese.

ISIC straight up tells Geoff that the “I love you” was making it weird. At best, there’s a one sided paternal relationship that Geoff sees himself having with ISIC while ISIC probably just sees Geoff as an expendable pawn in his search for vengeance and murder.
* and Alani & Kelvin as friends.
I can definitely see this, especially since I’m curious how Kelvin’s control of cold would interact with Alani’s control of water. Would Alani be able to manipulate/grow the ice that Kelvin creates? Their personalities work together quite well too, with Kelvin being pretty irreverent and comical, which would help Alani get out of her shell and start enjoying herself.

As for which 'ships I can see…

Ambra and Galilea. There’s so much history and hate there that it’s hard not to see it turn into something else when they’re forced to cooperate in close proximity (especially when Ghalt seems to prefer placing Ambra under Galilea’s command). They were incredibly close friends for a long time for a reason.

Montana and Thorn. They’ve got book club. Also, there’s something amusing about an angry Slavic elf getting together with an incredibly amicable lumberjack, in a WF and Deande kind of way. Thorn would definitely top. And leave scratches. That bleed.

El Dragon and Alani. El Dragon is totally over the top but has an experience of great loss and recovery that Alani would be able to relate to; the same is probably true for El Dragon concerning Alani (it’s hard to see losing your arms and career as the worst possible thing when you know someone who has lost every single person she ever knew in a single catastrophic event, especially as young as Alani; kind of puts his life into perspective). I also see El Dragon’s over-the-top showmanship and goofiness attracting Alani (since he would make her laugh) while El Dragon would probably appreciate Alani seeing him as more than just a goofball (Alani is all about seeing people who they are beneath the layers; hell, she desperately wants to be friends with a dour schizophrenic demon knight in search of redemption). Alani would become more confident, and El Dragon would start to realize that it’s okay to move on and be more than people expect him to be.

Orendi and Toby. Orendi already loves Toby because Toby is good at explosions (also, there’s a possibility it’s because he’s tiny and cute). She’s also not someone that you really need to apologize to because I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to insult Orendi indirectly. It could easily be less of a romantic relationship (I’m pretty sure Orendi is psychologically asexual) and more of a one-sided friendship that Toby simply learns to enjoy.

Attikus and Boldur (as friends). Both of them are brutes that every assumes are idiots but are actually quite intelligent. They’ve also both organized a rag-tag bunch of misfits into effective fighting forces and don’t take kindly to bullies or interlopers.

Marquis and nova, marquis even thinks he is novas favorite sociopathic robot

El Dragoooooooooooooooon is the only one who could handle Reyna.

Isn’t this the same thread as this?

It’s worse than that. ISIC hates Georachnis as much as he hates anything. Try soloing that mission with ISIC. He gloats quietly to himself about killing his own creation, in a jovial voice of course.

Edit:
Thorn would definitely top. And leave scratches. That bleed.
OH GOOD HEAVENS WHY DID YOU DO THAT. I can’t unsee that. I can’t unknow that.

Reyna would tie El D in knots with his own arms and walk away laughing. She’s bossy and flashy but has no truck with empty self-aggrandizement. (That’s why she digs Ghalt - he’s humble, in a clueless sort of way.)

Boldor is not THAT AMAZINGLY smart, I mean he did have scientest with him before they died, and when told to turn something off (on?) in the experiment, he just breaks it

I’ve always seen Orendi’s infatuation with Toby as being because, like her, he has a slight split personality disorder; one where he is violently crazy, just like Orendi. If you listen to some of Toby’s comments, such as:

Toby: "Keep it up, Death Machine!"
Toby (deeper voice): "You got it, Toby."
Toby: "Death Machine, you TALK?!"
Toby (deeper voice): "I sure do."
Toby: “WOW!”

-It seems as though Toby actually sees Berg as a separate entity, and occasionally talks to him; which only seems to happen when “Violent Toby” comes out. Seeing as Toby is clearly so lonely as to name and talk to his rig, i don’t think it’s too farfetched to say he inadvertently created an imaginary version of himself. This is even how some split personalities are created in people that are lonely. Naturally, Orendi (Who also displays a split personality, though admittedly more in the form of “moments of clarity”, where she speaks in her “normal” voice, and is not cackling or laughing) would find such a person attractive. However, i think Toby- “Normal Toby”- would be terrified of and against a relationship with Orendi.

HandsomeCam: Is that how you explain Orendi’s infatuation with Toby, Other Handsomecam?
Other HandsomeCam: Yes it is, HandsomeCam; yes it is…

Just to add to tobies possible disorder, he originally wanted to berg to look JUST. LIKE. HIM

Ah… narcissism. I can’t believe i overlooked that! Thanks, @cadecampbell; i KNEW there was a reason i kept you around.

Aside from datass, that is… -goes to pinch- WAIT!! …Can one be sexually harassed on a forum?

Lol

I would not necessarily call it that, as more of he thinks if he builds a deadly mech that looks like him, he will be feared individually from it (talking about narcissism

Thank you for clarifying, as i was confused for a second… or several. Shut up. We never covered “deadly mechs” in my sexual harassment meetings. In that case… -pinch-

You two talking to each other and having the exact same avatar is wreaking havoc on my mind.

Unless all this split personality talk is a clue…
