Keeping a ship docked on a latch point

Is there a way to keep a ship docked on a latch point when ‘stay docked’ is set? it looks like ships will dock and then leave

I’m assuming you’re asking after a scripted way? Something that would check to see if the ‘stay docked’ button was on and then keep things plugged in like a SobGroup_ForceStayDockedIfDocking or something?

I’m not sure if there’s a straight check for that. I mean I don’t know a function that can look for that button. I think if it’s a major thing, I’d just build a pair of subsystem switches. Build one to keep the ships latched and then the other to release them and clear the orders. Something like a “Latch Lock” and “Release” pair.

Straight enough forward from there I guess.

I think he want to have same thing has STC do, with prometheus escort ship or galaxy class for example. Or with dreadnought in the vanilla game (to shipyard), all of this is coded via scripts. I need a same thing too with Destiny and Seedship on SSC. Whit the possibility to gain more attack or something like that when is docked with other (has you see in stargate univers).

that is one of the uses, yes. Another is a resource controller that would carry the miners on latch points

I have some experience with this from my platform linking scripts. You can make a ship with no exit path, but then they will never leave, which is presumably not your intention…?

two examples, a platform with a latch path for defense craft on a landing platform. the ships stay on the platform until under attack, this might be scriptable

resource carrier that holds its miners on the outside, when it starts mining it launches the miners, also might be scriptable

Here’s an idea:

  • Apply damage to latched ships so that they are constantly repairing, so stay latched.
  • When you want to launch them, set their health to 100%.

I don’t think this is the best way to do acolyte linking, because you will see two ships in the GUI when you select it. I would use HOD swapping for acolytes, like the Taiidan Republic platforms.
