I don’t play him; I don’t think he offers anything that other heroes do better. There are more reliable single target dps’ers, better wave clears, better sustain heroes, better kill confirms, ect.

But the fact he’s all of those in one (albeit weaker in those categories) is what makes him unique. Unique can be good or bad, and Whiskey isn’t a character for everyone

He tank shreds really well and is an anti entrencher

Just the point though. There’s never really a reason to bring him, even as a fill. He’s interesting enough, just not effective in serious matches.

Plenty of characters can do higher single target to tanks. Anti entrencher? Killing rift stacks/ sunspots/ moving camping targets? That happens more with strong minion pushes/ a gank, not by specific characters so much.

He’s a strong anti tank. In normal gameplay he’ll see more use once drafting is implemented. Also, the death of Toby and Pendles

I love whiskey, but the only setup where I think he’s the perfect pick is against a miko/Montana combo. Pretty much every other situation there’s a character I’d rather have instead.

I find a lot of extremely effective Toby players only use the shield to play mind games or by putting it in a safe place to accelerate their team who pass through it. Pretty much anyone with any range whatsoever can shut down a sniping Toby.

I’d disagree. He has similar helices but rather level 10 is a game changer. And OM is the true king IMO

He’s the ONLY guy with a ranged wound (able to wound either 3 people or destealh+boost weapon damage) and the best dps a non melee can have and a pretty reliable ranged slow.
That’s something at least.

The only truly effective uses of the force field are a) to accelerate shots and b) protect yourself while running.

Toby is a incredible lane suppression hero. He’s gonna need his force field to do his job best, which means that he isn’t giving it to others who are in bad positions for his force field to last.
