This doesn’t seem like a fun challenge if you are expecting to just pop it out over the weekend. This seems like something that may happen invariably if you happen to play Galilea a lot in PvP. Maybe then after playing PvP for weeks/months as part of your regularly routine picking Galilea as one of your mains, you’ll probably be a lot closer to 25. Then you can spend a weekend and finish the challenge lol.
I used AtkSpd/AtkDmg/Regen when I was doing it. A lot of it is luck. I got a few cocky Ambra’s which fed me about 6-8 kills. I also don’t really like the PvP unless it’s for lore or I’m just too bored of campaign. My suggestion? Focus on trying to catch an Ambra in a corner so they can’t escape or attack, but save your shield stun for when they start to run at lower health (around when they get their overshield passive at 20% or so)

I think, this challenge is atrocity and it ruins experience for both Galilea and Ambra players.
As Galilea, you are literally forced to become a reaving maniac, hutning that single unfortunate soul who decided to play Ambra and so happened to face you in the game. You are also extremely keen to get the final blow, which means any teammate present is going to be your disadvantage, so you need to hunt alone or get salty at your friends for stealing your challenge. Either that, or forget the Lore Challenge progress.
As Ambra, you are being ruthlessly hunted by one of the most powerful characters currently in the game with reckless abandon. It’s not a fun experience.
I’m playing both Ambra and Galilea, and this challenge doesn’t feels good from both sides of this story. Period.
And you know what would easily fix this and prevent all that negativity this challenge involves? A simple change from kills to kills and assists (and maybe increase of required value from 25 to 50 to compensate for fact that assists are easier to earn).
What I know:
Assists don’t count.
Private Matches don’t count.
When queuing as a party for PvP, players can’t swap teams to play against each other in Public Matches.
25 is a large number.
What I don’t want Gearbox to do about it:
I don’t want Private Matches to count more than they do for Lore completion.
I don’t want to promote sabotaging another party by allowing friends to split teams.
That leaves me with:
Wanting Assists to count.
Wanting a lower Kill Count required to finish the Lore.
If I can unlock a Lore by partying with an Ambra 5 times regardless of Mission Completion, then I see no reason to force a higher count of 25 on something that is Skill based (and is outside of the players control on who picks the character).
(I would also accept being killed by Ambra to count, since I have had that happen more than I have killed her).
I wholeheartedly agree that it is a pain in the arse challenge, then again that’s why it’s called a “Challenge”. You can’t expect to get the “Master of ___” title so easily, I literally had to single out whomever played Ambra for the duration of an entire match but I got it done. The problem is the fact she tends to hang around tanks and once she gets to or below 20% health her overshield pops and she gains a speed boost to quickly retreat. Then once she runs her teammates pick you off because you’re already at 30% health from fighting her, the process is grueling but it’s doable.
This Lore challenge wouldn’t be so bad if people actually played Ambra. As it stands, it’s extremely frustrating. Having X number of character specific kills in PvP is lame. Tried for hours for Ambra kills and only saw about 2-3 Ambras.
I hope that GearBox is listening because this lore seems to be a universal pain to the entire community and really does leave a pretty bad taste in players mouths.

As an Ambra player, I am all for changing this challenge to fewer kills. Seriously, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had Gali players focus attack on me to the exclusion of all else, usually ending in the Gali’s death more than mine. Last night, on Temples, I was literally running from her for a good minute, up and down the stairs, across pretty much the entire map, giving a couple of my teammates a chance to get a point fortified, so I could stop, turn around and kill her with their help. And this wasn’t the first time, we sort of have a system for when this happens… And that’s not a good thing. A lore challenge shouldn’t cause that much trouble for everyone involved.

I just noticed that Whiskey Foxtrot has a similar one (Kill Oscar Mike 25 times). Bummer.
Anyhow as a tip for people struggling with this challenge my advice is to actually contact the opposing Ambra via PM and ask if you could kill them a few times for the lore challenge and then offer up some free kills in exchange if you’re worried about the match.
This is what I had to resort to with my last 8 Ambra kills which were spread over 2 people who agreed to help. If you hold down the touchpad it’ll pull up the scoreboard and you can access the Ambra users profile that way and then just PM them.

So much easier though because your killin ranged with ranged instead of ranged healer with melee

Seriously gonna try this tonight cause Im at my wits end.
I don’t expect them to do anything about these REALLY unfair lore challenges. They didn’t when we all threw a fit over some of them for the Open Beta, and NOT A SINGLE ONE was changed since the Open Beta, either.
Now that the full game is released, it’s even MORE unlikely we’ll see any sweeping changes to lore challenges, due to logistical issues, such as:
- What to do with players who have the challenge partially completed.
- We would make people who did it the hard way mad.
- Probably some other ones I’m too tired to think of right now lol.
I personally HATE PVP - I did NOT buy this game to be FORCED to play PVP content - I am quite happy with Story Missions Gearbox, and DESPISE being forced to go kill other players to unlock things…
…I’ve only tried a few times. My connection is usually VERY good, and I’m quite often the first to “join the match”, so I’ve gotten Galilea each time, but no Ambras…
I personally love both Ambra and Galilea, but I would NEVER play Ambra in PVP - I don’t need someone berzerker rushing me every flipping game ffs lol…
Apparently this Lore Challenge is getting Copy/pasted onto Alani.
Not sure if that helps or hurts Galilea Lore Completion or if it’s just lazy.
Regardless, Assists should count if they are going to make teaming Alani with Galilea versus Ambra a thing or else poaching will be an issue for frustration as well.

This is one of the worst lore “challenges” in the game. Its a terrible design and more reliant on luck than skill.

I just felt so proud I had to say this somewhere. I GOT IT. Me and my girl used gali (her) and Alani (me) and in two matches I went up 20 Ambra kills
Needless to say, one match was a stomping ground. But they combo really well with the stuns, aoe, and overall high damage.
Hint for it, (I know it sucks but if your’e going to try anyway and there happens to be an ambra) get the Dot on her riptide (Slow may be tempting to counteract her movement speed bonus, but the knockback and high damage destroys her shield and ruins her escape). Go with the flow, obviously. Hit her with an ult every time you land a geyser. To land, place under her while she’s attacking you - if you’re lucky she won’t make it out aand her range isn’t great anymore. Then riptide while she’s in bubble. Even though she’s airborne, the dots will still shrek her pretty badly. Ult if you haven’t already. And basic every chance you get.
I know the odds of facing an ambra, particularly a lower skill one than you, are slim. But you never know. I wasn’t expecting that at all. And it happened.
However, the lore is still poorly done. Hers, Gali’s, Whiskey, and Toby’s ult one. They all need fixing. But hey, if you can get it, do

I finally got it after 2 days of ambra hunting(elusive bastards)
Took me like a month to get this ■■■■. The main problem is that most good players will protect their Ambra, especially knowing there’s a Gals/Alani on the other team. Also, the overshield -> run away with +30% movement speed makes it a bitch to finish her off, even if do you get the jump on her when no one is around to 2v1 you. This must be GBX’s way of repenting for making Gals so strong back in the betas
I would really like to read the lore, but I hate PVP to begin with, and am NEVER going to complete this one.
I don’t suppose anyone who has finished it could screenshot it and post it here…?

Looking for Gali or Alani? I’m curious about the Gali one, too.
There’s also a thread where I posted 3 of the Alani lores. Can probably find it or a better one searching Alani lore
@kennysded:
We are in the Galilea sub forums, so I was referring to Galilea’s version of the “Kill Ambra 25 times.” challenge.
