Ok so it was to my understanding that +50% melee weapons decrease krieg’s melee damage but I watched this
Where bahroo proves that if you use a roid shield the melee attachment does more than his base melee.
Might be old news but was new to me

My most recent playthrough used primarily a roid shield and a Rapier which got me to OP4 ( with some interspersed Harold on the Peak ).
At that point I got a nice new on-level roid ; also at that point StV self-damage became just a bit too much. So viable up to OP2-3 I’d say.
Also pretty awesomely fun.

You would have to check where each bonus sits in the equation.
Basically you either get the blade bonus or the base Krieg bonus… But if one is additive to the roid bonus and the other one is multiplicative, that could explain those results.
The same way a damage accessory is better than the Crit one on snipers… Until you add the Bee in the equation.

Ye they need to really simplify the damage formulae in bl3

I disagree: having a multi-staged damage equation is part of what makes the game so deep.
️
And you couldn’t make it much simpler without removing options from the game as far as design goes.
Some parts could be simpler (like the 3+ types of splash…) But in general It’s fine

My guess is that since Krieg’s bonus is based on his level, the game treats it as a skill.

Wow! That’s amazing! I’m guessing you just did a web search?
Thanks - I’ll see about porting that - it’s pretty basic.

Late to the party anyway, I don’t remember this being mentioned on the forums but if this was posted before I apologize in advance…
Yeah, because of the KriegBonus term in the formula, non-bladed melee surpasses the three bayonets’ damage with Roid affecting at wich level they occur. With no roid, non-bladed melee has a higher damage than the common acc, Law and Rapier at levels 43.75, 75 and 137.5, respectively whilst at op8 with a maxed HoT (2158026 roid damage) the levels are 99.1297, 106.183 and 138.411 (disregard the possibility of reaching such levels).
Here are some comparisons i’ve made for bayonet vs non-bayonet (these are with no roid damage):
