A game that advertises “a bazillion guns!”, should not have a limitation to storage. But, with the way things are poorly optimized in this game, having infinite bank/backpack storage(or any amount more than what we have now) would break the game. UI for menus, items, etc need a complete overhaul. The gameplay itself is fine(with the exception of a few dips in fps from time to time). But opening any menu, whether it be a vending machine, to check your map, or switch items, especially in online, is a lag fest.

Imagine scrolling through endless weapons, or shields, etc. Half of them dont load with the current bank storage. Leaving you to have to wait for the item to finish loading. Until the UI is completely redone then I dont want an increase in storage of any kind. If all of this is fixed after the upcoming patch is applied, I’d love to have more space(bank and backpack). But until then I hope its left alone.

so how come I can store 300 items in Destiny 2 without noticing any performance effect whatsoever?

^^^ It took Bungie MANY years to address the tiny vault issue. They had failed again in Destiny 2. It took them almost an entire year to address it and they fought it tooth and nail.

In prior BL games it wasn’t an issue because the bank was not shared between characters. Correct me if I am wrong, but this is the first time it is a shared space between 4 characters. I believe this will be addressed as it is proving to be an issue to players. And I do not think GB will tell their players how stupid they are for wanting a bigger bank like Bungie did to their players.

Large storage spaces leads to hoarding. It’s a problem in many games not just this one. Personally I think 50 is enough, I just dont like how its shared across characters, but forutnately I dont mess around with many alts.

It being shared between characters where you can have up to 4 needs more room IMHO.
I agree about the hoarding to a point.
In this game though quite often there is not enough time to compare alot of the weapons and I like to put them away so I can circle back to them. What usually happens by the time I am ready to try it, it is now under levelled or I am happy with something else and it ends up being sold without even trying it LOL…

I really can’t agree with that. Storage has been a pretty contentious issue for years so I find it inconceivable that limiting players to 50 items across all characters would not be something that GBX did deliberately and in full knowledge of how it would upset many players. I also c an’t really accept the technical limitations as other games have shown that it’s possible . This seems more like GBX having a very firm idea of how they want to force players to play the game regardless.

It makes no sense to me that a game which is essentially about getting the best loot possible should seek to restrict players from collecting all that loot. I don’t get the hoarding argument, either. It makes far more sense to restrict hoarding when duplicates are easy to come by, but to do so in a game advertised as having a gazillion guns just seems a contradiction. Once you’ve given up an item it’s gone for good. So why prevent you from holding onto one that you happen to like? Just seems like sheer bloody-mindedness to me

You can have as many characters as you want. There are only 4 characters, but I personally fully intend to have 2 of each so I can run multiple builds without needing to re-spec every time I wanna change. That means I have 50 slots between at least 8 characters… Gearbox, I have one thing to say: …HAHAHA no.

I NEED, not want, NEED more bank space.

My Bank is full, my backpack is full, and I’m being forced to disperse my gear like Dragon Balls among my friends. It hurts. I want more space. A couple hundred should be fine, for now.

With legendaries offering annointed stats, I definitely need more bank space. 50 slots for all my Characters is not enough. I have to actually make mules now and send items to friends, don’t want to sell annointed items someone could use.

There is really no big technical design issue with more space. At worst, its a bit of loading delay, but I think its a small inconvience asgainst not enough storage.

because in destiny 2 they don’t fully render every gun in the storage.

Then don’t render every gun. Problem solved.

it will render every gun, because thats how the system was designed, problem unsolved.
you can’t just magically change this with a simple button, it’s a design oversight, and would require an entire system reworking and an interface reworking.
that’s why they would have to do a page system like destiny, maybe 20 to 25 a page and give you like say 10 vault pages, with you getting 3 pages after buying the normal SDU’s and starting at 5million you can buy another page.

Change the system. If you can literally add another full video game’s worth of content as well as limited time events that come and go then you can change the fact that equipment 3d models are pre-rendered when you open a bank/bag. Hell, that might help with the current lag issues they’re having with the menus.

to change the 3d rendering, you would need to create a 2d image of literally every gun. ntm the system cannot just be changed with the press of a button, It would require an entire reworking of the inventory system, which is a butt ton of work.

people don’t seem to understand just how much would have to be done to fix this, that’s why i called it a design oversight.
like how fallout 76 handled inventory space, or how destiny 1 did heavy ammo( you used to loose heavy ammo every time you died, which was because of a bug in the system code, thats why it took forever to fix something that sounded so simple)

Why did they change something that was fine?? I mean…personnal bank space for each individual character and a smaller spot accessible to all chars just like they did in BL2…

We really should have that 50 bank slot individual and maybe…10 spaces in another container account wide??

i think they tried to make it more stream lined, it would be a good idea if you had about 200 slots, but 50 is not enough for an account wide vault, not in a looter shooter with a billion guns.

You mean those little 2d images they have in the inventory slots are 3d? Geez, certainly fooled me.

Yea, I acknowledge that it would take a little work, but I’d personally appreciate the game not feeling like it’s still partially in early access. If they CAN change it in order for the game to not chug like an alcoholic college student at a frat party then they probably should even if it takes them a couple months to update it.

95% of the community was keen on more inventory space in a game that prides itself on nigh billions of unique guns and items, yet they decided on less space. That is on them and they should expect us to riot. They had ample time to consider this and decided to go with the least ideal option. 3d render everything each time you open the menu and reduce storage space to 50 for BILLIONS of guns.

? they didn’t look 3d to you?
and yes you are right, this is why it was a design oversight, they went for presentation over function.
ah wait, they might look 2d to you if you have anisotropic filtering set to below 16.

The images of gears you see in backpack are certainly 2D. They could be made from rendered 3d models & some photoshopping but they are certainly 2D.
