Let's Talk about Matchmaking

You took 1 step forward when you disabled ELO

See, in my eyes, that was a massive step backward. They are doing their best to make as many people happy as they can.

I would have to agree with you if we had a large playerbase. However, with only a few hundred players it makes it impossible to divide multiplayer population even more and expect faster queue times.

That’s just the thing. Your priority is the fastest queue. Mine is to have a balanced match. Neither of us is right or wrong here, it’s a matter of personal preference. I would MUCH rather wait 3-5 minutes for a balanced match than to get into a match more quickly, and I never waited longer than that prior to dropping ELO restrictions.

Hello. I want to thank you for the beta and congratulate you on your success. I fell in love with the beta, but couldn’t bring myself to buy the game. Only thing I’d like to say is offer what I would personally like as a gamer.
Your hero shooter model is great, some of the aoe abilities are a little sloppy, but overall really good. What confuses me the most is why you chose to shy away from the MBA hero shoother model. There is the model that has proven to be popular and work, (league of legends, overwatch, etc). I think the biggest reason I can’t buy your game is the individuality that refuses to play by the rules. No organized ranked modes, no successful ranking model, you made the game completely casual. It will find the hands of a different audience then the platinum audience overwatch grabs, which is okay, but why alienate competitive players? You charge $60 for a game with limited updates, and the update you just released is literally game limiting to play your game by YOUR rules. I can’t buy this game for that reason.
I hope that you try again, if you want to go the $60 model you need more content. I have free to play games that can release more champions faster then you can. Releasing the game wit two maps and a limited hero pool only pushed me away at your price tag. Look at paladins, how will you compete with that? I wish you good luck gearbox, stick with it.

My team of 5 waited up to 60 minutes one evening. This is US East Coast. That was the worst but normally it’s 20-30 mins. Once ELO was disabled, we had 30 sec queues.

You mean in the current system, yes? If you look at the post you quoted, I was referring to a few weeks ago before they dropped ELO ratings from matchmaking. I never had wait times like that.

This was before the dropped ELO and with the current Matchmaking. What I’m saying is I’d prefer balanced matchmaking too but it’s not worth a 30 min wait for a game currently.

I read yesterday that they were reverting matchmaking today. Is that still true?

I haven’t seen anything change but then again I live on the East Coast. I hope they really do.

As I remember Joe said something along the lines of “hopefully sometime tomorrow”. So no certain time, but an estimate guess.

Found it

They changed it back. Yay!!!

Live on ps4

Well, I’m glad we now have mode choices again, but now it seems to be taking way, way longer to find a match. I’ve literally given up several times and just went to play something else, because I could’nt handle feeling like I was just waisting my night away waiting to play. Still loving the game, but would love to see how things get worked out.

Matchmaking is awful. Spent more time looking for matches then actually playing. Think after 200 hours into the game it’s time to hang it up and try something else

200 hours is a lot of time for games nowadays lol.

Sorry you’re having issues.

Matchmaking has never once been an issue nor a near issue for me. I’ve been lucky. I have other problems with BB but the matchmaking has always been great.

I hope they can figure out something soon.

Jythri did say in the next patch it will address some of the matchmaking issues.

I have more time than that, but the majority of the time allocated to this game has been spent in queues or in one unsatisfyingly sided matches.

I think im around 200. Not counting Beta.

I didn’t know the game counted time outside of matches. Maybe that’s something they could separate.

It definitely would bring more light to the long queueing issues.
