Let's talk about the PLOTS AND SIDE STORIES the BL3 story didn't solve (previous games spoiler)

Once we find out the space restrictions on games for the Next Gen Consoles, I think that will determine how much DLC this game gets. Four DLCs is a start, but look at the shelf life of games now. BL2 had such staying power, and in retrospect the only restriction (and I was hyping up the idea of it on here well ahead of time) was having the space to do more DLC. The Handsome Collection on Next Gen had the benefit of that space and they got another full story DLC years later.

If we pretend that the Takedowns are our Headhunters, seasonal quick hits, and Story DLCs are the money maker, Tekken 7 is nearly 3 years in, still releasing content. BL3 is 9 Months in. It’s been on Steam for what, 3.5 (that’s when I finally got it, and started playing, hence my staying off here so long to avoid spoilers on accident).

With the U4 engine and new consoles yet to release, I truly hope they will embrace additional DLC (not free I imagine) to promote those versions being released, anchors at least another year of content of some sort.

For me BL3 is more like a side-story, thats why the TPS/Tales stuff isn’t there. DLC4 will not add anything new from those games, but I hope it will show more Ava’s and her development as pointed in some interview, so it will have more addition to the base game than DLC1-3.

Yes, the Trials are pointing more into the “War” than the base game. The same as Guardian Takedown. I hope next Takedown will provide more of Eridians.

And then in BL4 the war will come.

About DLC 4, “Krieg’s DLC”, i can see that. Krieg is one of the characters with the strongest connections to maya, so i can see Ava being involved in a plot about calming him down after knowing the bad news. Since she knew maya for a long time personally, and such.

And i was thinking about BL3, if it was the war the guardian talked about. I would asume it was, sadly. It has a lot of corporation armies fighting, the COV vs the raiders, and the final point of all this war, was the awakening of the destroyer. Which for the eridian guardian would be a MUST STOP thing.
So we have somewhat of a war, and a reason for the guardian to keep vault hunters alive.

Funny enough, Athena, who got saved thanks to the guardian, didn’t even appear in the story. Even when she was saved because we would need more vaulters. PFHAHAHA!

I would be happy to keep paying for additional content once the 4 DLCs are released. The Cartel map is huge and gorgeous, and the Maliwan Takedown is one of my favorite pieces of Borderlands content ever. I’d have happily paid $3 or $5 for small things like that - Headhunter style, like you said.

Funny you mention Tekken 7 - I’ve been playing in Tekken tournaments since 2000, and seeing them continuing to release content for T7 has absolutely kept the game going strong, and the Tekken community engaged. Continual support will keep a continual player base!

Continual support, thats the name of the game.
I forgot to mention this but, we already are paying a fat stack for BL3 and the DLC’s. An overall price of 70€ i think, per person, with sales.

So i’d rather wait 6 months to get a nice 5th DLC, even if it doesnt fit the season pass purchase, pay 10€ or 15€ for the awesome work of gearbox once again, and boom.

Instead of waiting 4 years for Eden 6 - The Presequel! built in a new engine my pc cant handle anymore, for another 70€ or so. (And lets hope it doesnt jump to become a UPlay timed exclusive this time. Pfhahahahaha!)

Fan backlash aside, all we really know about Ava came from

her stolen diary entries.

I haven’t googled much for fear of leaks, but there is a names location behind Roland’s Rest called Avie’s Hideout or something like that. I was assuming that was a pet name for Ava and she was on Pandora before stowing away on Maya’s ship.

This and playing the game this morning made me realize another unexplained thing that happens in BL2, and again in BL3:

In BL2 as soon as Jack captures Lilith, she uses Angel’s power to talk to us. Based on the new lore you could assume Angel gave Lilith her powers. That would establish Sirens being able to “stack” powers, which is the basis of the entire plot of BL3’s villains. It would also explain why Lilith had godlike power at the end of the game. we saw Maya learn to use Eridium to get a boost like Lilith, and Lilith reabsorb her power (plus more likely) from Tyreen. So maybe the Sirens all have some level of capacity for transferring power from Eridium, Vault Monsters, and each other? It would explain Lilith’s god-like power by the end.

I remember that there was talk about a possible DLC with her as a focus. But that was back during the interviews with RP and RV on the BL show. Has there been any other official posting from GBX? Last I checked its been nothing but silence from them regarding Ava. IIBPH I believe that the planned DLC that they talked about may have changed, or isn’t happening now.

Just my opinion though.

Pretty sure it’s just some easter egg someone in the map designing crew keeps smuggling in. BL2 had a named area called Avie’s Camp that you could jump into from the buzzard nest. I think there was even an achievement for finding it.

We discussed this, here: New siren type - Phasewake
Basically, her powers haven’t been seen yet and (unless the destroyer destroyed them) must be on a new character, somewhere. It’s anyone’s guess what they are (or what gearbox will make them), but it’s likely that BL4 will have this 6th siren as a playable character (especially since most people don’t like Ava), though it’s possible we could get a playable siren with a new take on an old power (like how Ava uses phaselock as a shield, not an enemy trap)

The chronology you all worked out jibes for the past. As for the present…

Lilith’s status is still an unknown and Tyreen is dead, which leaves 3 possible unknown Sirens. You would think once Lilith figured out her fate she may have picked an “heir”, if she even knew how. There is that picture of Roland and Tina in her quarters, which be the ultimate fan service.

Tyreen, if she knew that aspect of Sirenology may have picked a disciple of hers to wreck havoc.

The new lore sets the current Sirens up to be capable of perpetuating a never-ending war by designating their successors.

Based on her dialog inside The Forgotten Basilica I don’t think she’s aware of that process.

That will be stuff for BL4, when the “great war” comes to us, i guess…

it was probably a lesser vault with just loot inside, not all of eridian vaults have a deeper meaning or power in them.

S&S munitions ran away with the tail between their legs in the outer sistem when Hyperion came to Pandora, at least…this is what GBX said.
Ashin…they didn’t really talk mutch about shield related MFC, sadly.
I agree that they coulve used another company, tho.

While i agree that GBX coul’ve at leat put him in game im kinda glad he’s not an important character this time arround? in BL2 Torgue was slowying becoming a boring chatacter to me, always spammed everwhere in all dlcs with not really mutch important stuff to say/tell us.
Let’s give the old man a break.

The orginal voice actor had problems with his vocal cords if i remember correctly but now he’s fine and told GBX that he’s ready to take his Zed mantell back again.
Maybe we will see him in the Krieg dlc? i mean…someone has to put the VHs in his brain…

This is what I have my fingers crossed for…

It’s easy to pick holes in the details of the lore, which is unfortunate, but pretty useful when talking about this stuff. That said…

So we know Tannis somehow harnessed Angel’s powers, but we’re not told where from. We do know she got some knowledge from the chamber prototype on Helios. Her gauntlets from Eden-6 were able to drain the defeated Vault Monster right? My memory is slipping. So that’s a power neither Angel, Maya, or Lilith displayed. Jack did have inhibitor tech to control a Siren, so there’s research she could have tapped into there?

But all that is said as a lead up to the idea that maybe Sirens can choose their successor on an instinctive level? Somehow Angel’s powers made themselves available and didn’t just go somewhere else in the universe. But maybe Angel had access to any and all research on the echonet and knew?

Maya’s power going to Ava implies that it knew it’s proper recipient well after Maya’s death, as if it has some innate sentience tied to it? For me that would be an interesting way to explain the sounds and quasi voices hear when using Phasewalk and Phaselock. Since Krieg was experimented on with Eridium and experiences some weird sounds when Bezerking, that would be one way to explain the connection. Whatever power Eridium channels is on a similar wavelength to what Sirens channel.

Also, of the remaining people left, now that we know on some level men can hold Siren powers, as nonsensical as it would it be, consider the candidates for the new Firehawk:

Ellie - Turns out she was Lilith’s most reliable ally the last few years.

Tina - That the only picture she has of Roland, is one with him and Tina, and she took Tina in with the Raiders from the time span of TTADK through the Commander Lilith story line, including the shared grief, would have weight. And that Tina has grown to be the leader of Lilith’s old squad… as if, she’s modeling her life after the former leaders of the Raiders? And at this point, how is Lilith not an even bigger inspiration to her after defeating Hector and saving Pandora?

Krieg - Well, the synergy between skills is pretty obvious. Imagine him coming out of Phasewalk and going straight into Buzzaxe Rampage with the Melee buff and elemental nova. Bloodsplosions would abound.

Since we know siren powers can come to living hosts, we need Tina to become a siren for 10 minutes. She could make loads of super saiyan jokes and laugh madly at how much power she has and the craziness of it coming to her.

We do know how she got the powers.
In the Nyriads echos she said something about being in a place where a siren died or where she lived most of her live could create a link and pass the powers to another person.

Tannis preatty mutch had studied all of the machines and datas Angel used on the Helios so i guess her powers where inside the datas too.
Plus she had a whole lot of time to spend with Angel’s stuff.
The teddy bear, the drawings, the turret, etc etc…all things permeated by Angel’s power.

In the same way Tyreen got her powers, she was conceived in Nyriad’s cell, where she probably died in. that place must have had TONS of siren energy in there.

The gauntlets are a big question mark in this game, tho.
Because (at least to me) it didn’t seem like Tannis drained the vault monster, it semes that she absolutely took something from him…but draining him?..i don’t think so. Maybe with her temporal-space time portals she putted the power of the monster away in some sort of “pocket dimension”?

To a certain degree, yes. The siren can choose the successor of it’s power and Ava being her pupil it was the perfect fit.

The firehawk powers will not go anywhere because Lilith isn’t dead.
She Phasewalked the whole moon away with her leaving a “hole” in it’s place, think about it…did you see any debree from the crash? did you see any explosion? any gravitational change? no. because the moon is still there. just not in OUR reality.

Plus, GBX literally told us that Lilith isn’t dead and she will come back in the future. lol

For now the giant question mark we have about Sirens is:
What the hell was Commander steel power? because by doing a simple math count we have seen all sirens powers. (not counting the extra siren that Nyriad and her sisters exiled away because she was apparently too powerful)

The siren in BL4 will have FOR SURE Steel’s powers.
it’s the only power we didn’t see in action, we just saw in the robolution dlc that the revived Steele had a sword and she was REALLY FAST. too fast.

Just to say, we know:

Phasewalk. (Lilith)
Phaselock. (Maya)
Phasetrance. (Amara)
Phaseleech. (Tyreen)
Phaseshift. (Angel)
and we don’t know the Steele one.
Maybe she’s a siren mixed with a more “stealthy” or “agile” kind of power? like Mordecai, Zer0 and Zane?
Phaseninjutsu? lol

Commandant Steel’s power I guess was Phasechestburst.

About the same speed and sword as the Omega assassins. Not that that would matter too much - the lore seems to be somewhat flexible…
