Limitations on Engine Trails

It looks like engine trails have the same modding limitations in the ship file as HW2 classic.

Specifically without editing the base tga for engine trail falloff (which will impact all engine trails) it is not possible to modify the blending behavior of the trail (only one texture in the ship reference) It would be great to specify the tiling image for the engine trail and the falloff image

Have you found if there’s a limit on the number of engine flares also? After four engine flares (engineburn) joints on a ship it won’t show me any more.

I suppose I could use an engine glow instead, but flares are quicker to add.

Edit: also, EJ, what about modifying the engine trail shader as a solution for those limitations you mention?
