Mayhem 4 is obviously harder than Mayhem 3 because the enemies have such longer health bars. However, if you personally are so overpowered that you one-shot even Mayhem-4 enemies, then the greater number of random modifiers of Mayhem-3 would wind up giving you more trouble.
Locking just a few specific pieces of gear behind specific modes is not “catering to hard core players” in the slightest. I think having specific gear locked to the Takedown is a good way to give people more incentive to play the mode.
Trust me, as a self appointed hard core player of the looter genre, this game generally works against hardcore players of this genre far more than it caters to them.
I’ve been watching this topic develop with intrigue and something has been mentioned or hinted at a few times now that is quite important to me and my lad.
That feeling of accomplishment.
Yes, takedown and m4 were hard at first, so hard that we got obliterated first jumping in, but through working out our gear/skill synergies a bit more means that now we can blat through m4 content with ease and with the exception of an odd mistake, the takedown is fairly straightforward.
I do recall those first few victories clearly, that feeling of “f*ck yeah” and double that feeling if one of the takedown items dropped. A feeling which returned when a suitably anointed version dropped on a later run.
Would I have gotten that feeling tootling through a lower difficulty and still getting a particular item to drop? Probably not.
Am more than happy if items are locked behind super hard content as it had been in previous games. I don’t need any of those items to enjoy the game (yes, my subjective opinion), but gives me something to work towards if I choose to, and will be something that will again give me that “f*ck yeah” feeling again if I manage that content.
TBH Enemy Health, Shield & Armor should have capped at something like Mayhem 5
This is OP Levels ■■■■■■■■ all over again needing to refarm gear. Modifiers are hard enough.
It’s no longer just ‘FUN’/Unique Modifiers anymore since they REQUIRE u to have gear vs. +125000% stats just to get certain gear… thats tedious and freakin unfair.
You can’t play a normal game anymore because max level Mayhem 10 is all sorts of craziness and overpowered stuff. You can’t play non-Mayhem or lower level Mayhem modes if you have Mayhem 10 gear cuz then ur OP against everything now. They restrict ur gameplay to certain modes(levels) only
These OP/Mayhem Levels ruined the balance all over again.
P.S. Melee doesn’t scale to Mayhem levels
Seen this anti hardcore posting a lot lately. If anything bl3 is catering to the casuals my god. I played 2 hours after cartel released and am wrecking m10 already. Havent even logged onto bl3 in like 5 months before this patch.
And destiny is casual friendly too. Hardcore players have nothing to do after the few hours of dailys and raids done they have to play something else for a week.
Havent seen a hardcore friendly game other then Korean garbage in a decade or more.
I did MH6 and found an OPQ then went right to MH10 and farmed Carnivora map until I found a nice assault rifle and just destroyed everything after that.
MH10 is not nearly as hard as I was hoping it would be.
And the problem nowadays is that people who can’t handle MH10 because they refuse to build a character to be at its peak performance get mad that they can’t complete the hardest content. They want to do flavor builds AND still get the best gear…
MH10 should be designed specifically for either people with insane reflexes and play skill (certainly not me) or players who tweak their build until it is at its optimum and who farm for the best gear until they get the perfect set up.
MH4-6 should be for flavor builds with decent guns.
Right now people in every game I play want their flavor builds to be able to complete MH10 because they don’t think it is fair the better gear drops at higher MH lvls.
