Looking at the Battleborn Open Beta Infographic...Something Strange Occurs

Wow. Sooooo many people failed or left The Algorithm after starting the Geoff fight…I mean Arachnis fight. No, Geoff. The information that they showed said that Void’s Edge was completed ~825,000 times, but ~1,400,000 story missions were completed. This means that The Algorithm was completed ~575,000 times. But Geoff really wanted to be Arachnis ~1,670,000 times. This means that players attempted The Algorithm, reached the Geoff fight, but were unable or unwilling to complete the mission ~1,095,000 times. About as many multiplayer matches occurred, total. What even…Did that many people try to solo it with melee? Or is there something else I’m missing? This baffles me.

Phase 3 in 5-player mode can wipe out a team of new players, especially if, up to and during, every time someone goes down they just respawn right in front of you instead of letting you revive them… resulting in all extra lives gone.

The one time I lost in front of Geoffrachnis was because someone kept killing themselves RIGHT AS I WAS STANDING NEXT TO THEM, resulting in all the extra lives getting devoured and then everybody dying in phase 3.

I hold that Rath, who kept hitting ‘respawn’ right as I was standing next to him to revive, responsible. xP

Could you include the link to that information for future readers?

You are making the assumption that all of those people didn’t pass the Geoff fight. They could have just as easily finished the fight then exited the mission or disconnected or crashed at some point after that.

I’m not saying that they didn’t finish the fight. I’m saying that they didn’t finish The Algorithm.

The point is that not finishing the mission does not mean they were UNABLE to do so. They may have simply chosen not to. For instance, I did a bunch of partial runs through that mission with different characters just to get a feel for them.

I understand that. It still leaves the Algorithm, with, at best, a little better than a 1 out of 3 completion rate (we don’t know about attempts that didn’t reach Geoff). I did quite a few runs like that myself, but usually stopped after Barbara (so I wouldn’t have contributed to that statistic). Because dealing with that second fumigation room solo is a pain. I’m just saying that 1 out of 3 is a number that surprises me with how low it is.

I also feel like there’s a strong possibility that these numbers are all made up/misleading.

Also, we don’t know how the numbers are calculated.

Is a “completion” per room or per player?
If it’s per player, then every time someone drops before the end of the level it skews the number.

and this is also a good point:[quote=“Misguided, post:6, topic:1371148, full:true”]

Everything after Geoff is just hot garbage is the likely culprit, especially as melee. You’re basically twiddling your thumbs the remainder of the level. Voids edge is just a far more enjoyable level to actually finish.

A large majority of the mission failures could come from public matches as well. Plenty of places where you could potentially fail/have your progress stopped due to afks. The Algorithm is a pretty long mission as well so it’s not that surprising that only 1 out of 3 people/groups finished it.

And that there were a not insignificant number of reports that the game broke on that level. The Emperor. ISIC himself, etc.

I think the algorithm was the harder of the two available stages and was part of many games that wiped out on geoff/arachnis. some fights he seemed to be an easy fight, but half the time he was brutal. I really like how they give you the option to choose a preference or no preference when you go into the mode but I think it was certainly and indication of how hard algorithm really was by how often I saw other players choose voids edge, especially the higher command level players would almost always choose voids edge because they knew it was easier.

The Algorithm had a huge issue after the golem fight where the drill wouldn’t go away. That might explain a bit of an inflated number since I ran into that problem several times. They’ll probably fix it before release.

Ha,I don’t think I can be counted on the highest ranked players, since I ended the beta command rank 25, but I prefered The Algorithm, because more bosses = more chance to have good loot ^^
