Your on to something there with that whole kind of borderlandsy feel to the game they can take that over the top style and run with it. The sandbox they have created to place the story and Solus into has a lot of room to maneuver.
With the feel of the game I feel they can do a lot more with lore than a standard MOBA or shooter could characters can have so much interaction which I already felt a lot of in PVP and Campaign although my brain still doesn’t comprehend why Thorn has book club with Montana.
I would love to see them take particularly the characters and show why they are the over the top last heroes of the universe rather than just say it.
Yeah, I just figured that since they use the word a ton. They could do it as a character based 4 tiered Horde…hear me out.
All depending on the amount of players on your team with a MAX 5 players, the system will scale up and down after rounds in case someone leaves. The AI will automatically populate a new AI character to help maintain the 5 character Max and will NOT allow for new people to join in after a spot is left. Why? Because they would be at a disadvantage to the rest of the team as far as Helix Skills being obtained. SO, 5 start the match if 1 leaves an auto populated AI of the same character joins in on the next wave to continue the fluidity. This new AI will be smart enough to role play and level themselves up by staying on par with the team of real players. There are turrets to purchase just like in the PvP and PvE modes and maybe introducing some “booby traps” of sorts. After defeating a “Battleborn Boss” we get a small glipse into their past and how they arrived where they did. These waves are randomized and scaled depending on when we get them, meaning if we got Montana on, say round 4, he is easier to defeat (because we are still not level 10 on the Helix) than if we encountered him on say wave 16.
How the match is played 25 sets of 4 waves (100 Waves total) and a final Boss for wave 101!!!
Waves 1-3 are minions and super minions and other strong type characters progressively getting stronger but the AI knows the level of the players so it won’t just jump leap and bounds
Waves 4 is a Battleborn Character with a strong group of minions
Repeat steps 1-4 each time having a different Battleborn “Boss”
Now comes the loot and gear (common, unique, rare & legendary gear) and Gear packs:
Waves 1-3 of the set drop loot like Geoff…random spreads of random stuff
Wave 4 of the set drops the same but better AND everyone gets a Gear Pack
The first 5 BattleBorn “Bosses” get you a Common Gear Drops.
The next 7 (6-112) get you Unique Gear Drops with the last of those rounds giving each player a PACK.
The next 10 (13-22) get you Rare Gear Drops with the last of those rounds giving each player a PACK.
The last 3 (23-25) get you Legendary Gear Drops with the last of those rounds giving each player a PACK.
The Boss (obviously it’s Battleborn’s flat-headed big bad guy, Lothar Rendain!!) and IF you beat him in 1 try you get stepped amount of loot type drops determined by the Devs. With the levels of gear being lowered the more you try and fail…not to exceed ATLEAST a Legendary Pack per player.
I love that idea I think to implement it would need a few tweaks but nothing major to what you said. I would also recommend you make this suggestion in its own post. <3
Edit. I haven’t really seen anyone suggest or flesh the idea outside of this post if not then it should definitely be its own post.
What I love is that it would add another arrow to the quiver in terms of varied gameplay something which battleborns hybrid nature has the chance to lead in.
Honest to goodness with enough work they could easily have one of the most engaging stories some of the most engaging heroes with tons of brilliant and varied pve and PvP game modes and maps.
They have hit such a gold mine of potential with this niche just wondering what they could do with it literally has my hyped right now I wasn’t even going to type all this .
The ideas in GBX’s dev studios can be addressed with the we have time we want to do it all ways or we need to focus way. I pray that the leads have the vision to go, okay this isn’t a cash grab this is a long term sustainable product that if we play it correctly could easily be one of the most enticing games on the market. I feel as long as they have some ability to look past the “this is a new game stage” their future goals can be a lot better brought to life.
They have a very high ceiling for replayability in this game… what with PvP and PvE and some sort of horde or wave mode they would hit almost every single player out there.
Heck, I see people wanting 3rd person. Add it, but with it being it’s own server labeled something over the top like “I SEE YOOOUUUU!!!” (meaning 3rd person and 1st person allowed). It might be a smaller group in there, but hey, who cares. If players don’t want to play against them they don’t have to go to that playlist. If they don’t care, they can. There are definitely people that do and do not want it so please them all.
Just gave me a thought about something I considered a while back on second person perspective. I only ever thought it could be successfully applied to something like smite but a hero that can only see or is controlled through a mobile drone or something similar. Would fit perfectly with a zone controller or territorial style Battleborn.
I could see some kind of tie in with LLC and minion robotics, could make for an interesting tie in with the minions or ai and an alternate fov would make him her it a unique controller. It is a little difficult to entirely flesh out the idea in my mind because it isn’t often done but the idea of tying unique vision with zone control or minion control appeals to me.
Or with the drone like idea mixing the abilities between the controller / controllee.
The game has been out for 3 months now. I think IMO that in another 3 months we will have some kind of idea of where this game is headed. I think that devs need to keep catering to the community.
