That’s the observation I made as well. Either way we really need transparency on the actual numbers.
I just got it to drop yesterday, used it a few times, and went back to my weapon damage relic. **** that lol.
I have a feeling it probably works like the Vault Hunter’s Relic in BL2 - It says it increases the % of rare drops, but it achieves that by reducing the number of white drops. It’d be cool if there was an “increase legendary drop rate” item, but of course then a huge portion of the players would ignore every other item of that type in lieu of keeping higher legendary drops so that’d suck.
Luck is just bait put out to trick people into weakening themselves by making them think doing so will give them better loot. However nothing has an effect on RNG dice rolls unless you cheat and use dice with max values on all sides… >.>
A 30 run test is a better sample than a 5 or even 10 run test, I’m sure you would agree. I don’t think I’m going to waste my time keeping loaded dice in my loadout when every indication I’ve heard about, including my own limited experience, points to the same result.
Another possibility is the implementation of Luck doesn’t play well with the Mayhem modifiers.
Let’s say you have a 1% chance to drop a legendary. Now that becomes 5% in M3 (based on the 500% loot modifier). We can be reasonably generous and assume your Luck is increased by 50% with the Loot Dice artifact. If the bonuses from Mayhem and Luck are additive, you would end up with (1 * (0.5 + 5) = 5.5%). This is actually only a 10% increase, and is incredibly hard to notice without a very large data set! Whereas if they are multiplicative, you would see a much larger increase of (1 * 5 * 1.5 = 7.5%), which is a full 50% increase – but to be fair, this might also be hard to notice.
Generally, Luck items will help you get the most out the most out of your loot drops only if you keep your killing speed the same.
@garfield1283 posted a link where someone did 4000 runs and it did prove there were positive results for the loaded dice but it was a very very small increase. Some people want to use it and that’s fine but I won’t use it. I’d rather wear almost anything else.
