Sometimes I hit a dry spell, but I’ve never had trouble finding pearls on the train. I’m not entirely sure about this, but I think I’ve found all of the pearls from the first set on the train at least once. Never got a single pearl from a Tubby, though. Not even one from the first set. However, I did get a pearl from a regular stalker once. RNG at its best.
Yup! Incendiary Fastball. It wasn’t max damage for level 72, but it will do just fine for now. I’m gonna do a few more runs next week, so if I’m lucky I might get another one. I also want my Sticky Longbow Quasar with 0.0 fuse. Been looking for it for a long time.
I took the Skin pic just before posting it…it’s not from the drop. I looked for a drop pic but coudn’t find one.
In general - I’m not sure how to back up what I’ve said, aside from now on taking a pic of each train run’s results and posting it. And I’ve had enough experience with RNG-based gaming in various forms to understand that my results are rather off the norm. If there’s a way to analyze the way my game processes or something, I’ll be happy to provide whatever info is needed.
EDIT - I have tomorrow afternoon free…I’ll do ten runs and post screens of each run’s chests.
The Quasar is my grenade of choice on almost every build I run, but I hardly ever use it for damage. I only use it to strip shields, group enemies and buy time. Still, it’s my favorite grenade in the game. I’m currently using a Longbow Quasar with a very short fuse, but I still want a Sticky Longbow one with zero fuse just to maximize its utility. I don’t care about the damage on the thing, really. The Incendiary Fastball is the last one I needed to complete the collection. Now I got one of each element and I can finally test my Fastball Axton build. The corrosive and incendiary ones aren’t max damage, but it doesn’t make that much of a difference when it comes to the Fastball.
Ok, I believe you. And now I feel bad for you. That’s terribly unlucky. Still, it’s weird that you got a Skin of the Ancients from the train. That’s gotta be incredibly rare.
I am about as sure as I can be that Ancients relics only come from LLM’s, and I’ve never seen anyone else say that they got one from anywhere else. FWIW, I’ve farmed the Mercenary Day train hundreds of times in UVHM (I’ve used Snowflake for a lot of my UVHM leveling with several characters) and never gotten an Ancients relic from it.

Neither did I, but the wiki says they can drop from “any suitable loot source”. I don’t know if that info is wrong. What I do know is that I’ve never seen any of those relics drop from any enemy that wasn’t a loot midget and I am 100% certain I never got one from the train.
The Volcano was a good drop and the Topneaa was the corrosive one I’ve been trying to get.
I think by now we can definitely say that if a player wants a legendary class mod they should go to the train. Also the E-Tech drop rate is definitely high; better than the Golden Chest with no cost in keys.
The double shield drop looked so cool. Also, 20 E-Techs in one session is pretty full-on. Topneaas 2 runs in a row; if anyone asks me where to get a Topneaa I’ll be recommending the train from now on.

Having so many opportunities for core class mods, shields, and grenade mods makes it a great place for those types of items. Guns are obviously hit or miss, but etech launchers come up a lot in my experience, as well. I have 4 shock Topneas in the bank from my runs.
The best fuse time you can get on a Sticky Longbow Quasar (Shock) is 0.9 seconds. The Longbow variant is available with a 0.0 Fuse time, but not the Sticky Longbow variant.
