Another recurring problem with the Uppercut, it wasn’t a DPS increase due to the long animation, just a slightly inconvenient knock-up.

I’m wondering the same thing, it does specify just melee. Personally I’ve always thought her thrown fans to be superior to her melee attacks, particularly with the level 3 +18% damage increase, they’re very accurate and land crits like no tomorrow, considering the ease of critical hits they actually deal more DPS at level 3. I think the melee attack speed increase does more to balance her primary attack against her secondary, if both receive the attack speed boost then thrown fans will still be the superior attack even at close range.
I often equip +attack speed gear of Deande and just go ham with thrown fans, they proc so fast and with that third hit dealing double damage her DPS is actually quite high but since she’s a melee-focused character many people complained that her DPS was too low, this is not entirely true but with the new “buff” she’ll be able to use both attacks effectively and her melee will still stand up against her level 3 thrown fans. 15% is pretty big for attack speed. My only problem with this - Now Deande may be used more often, she’s often compared to Rath and Phoebe but she’s no Rath of Phoebe and I don’t want her to become either of them, she’s unique but if she becomes too melee-dependent she’ll just become another typical melee slayer. I hope this is the only “buff” she’ll ever receive.

True but as it stands, she’s easily the inferior melee characters and also stealth character of all the cast. Hope this changes with this patch but if it doesn’t I have a couple of suggestions that I hope GBX will at least listen to.

Current deande is just bad. Solely relying on Uppercut was just a NO for me. I’ve been asking for a buff of her attack speed for months, if you look at older threads in the deande board, as well as her ult’s damage.
Got both, that’s very good.
And was also asking for either a nerf of her uppercut or removing it. Got it as well.
This wasn’t fun to juggle around enemies in pve with piss poor dps, and this wasn’t fun in pvp to stack AS to lock down players (which quite obviously wasn’t an intended mechanism, as no other hero can lock down like that permanently another player,( except with a… rapid quick melee, oh look that received a nerf too) either.
The dps increase here is huge, between the attack speed increase, the damage increase that you can take instead of uppercut in pve, and the fact that no juggle= can target the head to crit.
It’s better to see before concluding, but she should finally, FINALLY have a good dps in pve now. Still a bit disappointed of her running speed (especially since alani is receiving a buff on this) in pvp tho.

The knock-up on her uppercut was insane and not fun to be on the receiving end of, not to mention nearly impossible to escape from. It needed to go and the only reason I haven’t been on these forums beating that drum is that not many people play Deande so it’s not an issue I’d run into much before. Plenty of melee characters manage to do fine without chaining infinite knock-ups, so I’m sure Deande will be alright.
Remember everyone, there’s still a Battleplan Thursday. I’m just gonna be naive and hope for a movement speed increase then.

The removal of uppercut bugged me too. He lack of melee range compared to rath and others made it hard to hit sometimes. Even against chars like kelvin

I don’t much care, sicne thy nerfed ISIC’s ult, (FINALLY) I don’t need to use uppercut to counter it. I always spec for attack speed gear, (I can get up to around 22% with stacks!) So I’m ■■■■■■■ psyked for this!

She will still relying too much in the “Boots of the Brute” (which seriously needs to be nerf)…
Whiskey have more movement speed than Deande wigh the same helix than her but 4 times better
I hated the uppercut, never took it, it looked stupid and it felt cheap when on the receiving end.
The increase to her base attack speed is a more relevant change imo.
Yeah, i reserve final judgement until i can internalize all of the changes. I think my own attachment to Uppercut came from not having many other viable alternatives. If the changes can provide me with some different approaches to using the character i’ll be happy. For those that legit liked Uppercut’s performance, yeah, nothing to replace it.

I just wish they would have gave her a stun in some other form besides her ultimate. They should gave her a stun like after being weakened by burst dash, the last hit of her melee will cause a stun.
the uppercut seems like it is completely underrated in the comments here. you can guarantee winning any 1v1, especially on capture with it, even more so if there is an overhead above and have attack speed gear on. Knockup on basic melee combo is hands down OP.
Regular melee range yes she is shorter but unlike other melee characters she also has a ranged attack so it kinda evens out a bit there. (rath sorta has a ranged attack but no where near the range deande has)

I know but they’re not the best. The turn arc can be a pain. Shayne has a longer reach and better alt attack. Yea they’re useful in certain situations but not enough. I can still use her but not as easily to counter an Escape or high dps and range.
Well true but that’s just part of trying to make characters different in some way shape or form. As for escape well that happens all too often for any character. o.o just ask a marquis 4-5 shots and they run like chickens. Raths as well get them close after weakening them with skills and they turn tail and run behind minions blocking a decent chase or some other opponent assists.
Uppercut sort of was cheating to some extent. (its like a constant cataclysmic smash by rath without the range or damage/attackius eruption) The knock ups cancel skills IIRC. Sure you could escape it with quick melee on the way down. But the increase in attack speed should even it out by adding more DPS so you wont need to rely so much on locking an opponent down to get a kill.
