Has there been a discussion about adding a spectate mode? I have been trying to analyze games but being able to jump in as a spectator would be awesome.

It is in the works. There was a twitch stream with a developer where he spoke of their plans for spectator mode. There is a Reddit post that someone, other than me, has the link to that sums up the whole stream.
