Ping me when it’s up!
To be fair proc chance is more valuable in my mind than damage from said proc, so I can get behind that. It’s not like even Maliwan-barreled guns from other brands will ever outdo an original Maliwan gun in proc damage anyways.
I’ll do one better. I’ll invite you to the PM thread with myself and @Piemanlee cause i uploaded screen shots like a MF last night. took a long time…
Some good data there. I’ll have to do some testing myself, then - did you take into account any of the other parts (sight, stock etc.)?
I wanted to throw my two cents worth on this debate and talk about Dahl Snipers :
I think you should always go with non-matching parts on Dahl Snipers. Extending the burst-size is useless unless you’re planning on wasting ammo. You might as well get an accurate 4-shot burst (so no Dahl Stock to avoid that +1 round in the burst) and get it to deal as much damage as possible through the use of a Jakobs Grip for that sweet damage + accuracy bonus. Dahl Snipers are already very stable and they have a very good fire rate and a respectable firing delay between bursts.
So the best would be : Hyperion Stock, Jakobs Grip. Accurate bursts dealing as much damage as possible. Maya and Zer0 (the two best marksmen in the game) can handle the reload pretty easily through the use of Killer and Fast Hands with Zer0, and Inertia and Foresight with Maya.
Edit : after thought the Terror is the only case where Dahl parts are good, because of the Jakobs Barrel.
Or better yet, don’t use Dahl snipers
Why ? I mean they’re pretty decent …
Je les déteste
They’re not bad, if you can get all Vladof parts, a Hyperion barrel and a crit damage accessory. A rapid 3-round burst is fairly useful. Other than that, they tend to be crap.
The sight and stock never affect any of the main weapon card stats to my knowledge.
They’re actually insanely good with both Maya and Zer0. I love the Terror (Jakobs Barrel), funnily enough it’s the only case where you’d want matching parts. But others like the Scout (Vladof Barrel) and the Sniper (Dahl Barrel) are pretty good too. The fact that you can unload a lot of bullets on an enemy’s crit sop thanks to the low recoil in a short amount of time is a very good feat. They’re no Droog by any means but they’re a lot of fun.
Regarding Red Text ones : the Sloth is definitely in the top 5 best Sniper Rifles in the game (top 4 imo, right behind the Snider). The Pitchfork is very good against large enemies in general (especially Loaders for that sweet spot where you can get 3 crits in one shot) but trash tier against humanoid enemies.
Et pourquoi donc ?
Humph.
More testing we shall do!
The Sloth is brilliant, the Pitchfork is a wee bit too situational for my taste. I had a three-round burst corrosive Sloth at one point which was glorious for Loaders - the slow fire rate meant you could drag from left to right and put a shot in each crit spot from a single burst.
I’m not going to stretch my grade 9 Canadian French any further
I dislike ( no, detest ) Dahl’s burst fire in general. Yes the Sloth is good, but vs a Vladof or Jakobs, it’s always going to take a back seat. I’ll try this :
and get back to you.
Actually you should try a Terror with all Dahl parts, or an Emerald Sniper with a Hyperion Stock and Jakobs Grip.
The Jakobs barrel would probably be a better choice for sheer damage if you don’t mind the reduced accuracy, and a more obnoxious-looking scope reticule. I’d still say avoid elemental versions, however.

Good point - don’t forget the Gemstone variants. Gives it a general boost.
Speaking of snipers and @Jefe will agree. Hyperion stock>dahl stock for jakobs sniper like the hawkeye. Where you’re going for 1 shot kills
I love Hyperion stock on Pimpernel.
And sights do not affect anything but the zoom range with the exception of launchers where for what ever reason they do affect stats.
I’m so glad sights don’t affect stats on anything besides launchers. Tediore is preferred on launchers for quicker reloads generally

I’ve just gotten used to backing off the scope to stop the burst at one shot. I might be down for a three-round burst in some situations though… will keep an eye out for something built like that.

That’s awesome.
Oh also, from experience on my Banditzerker save, for Bandit weapons it’s best to (at least for ARs, SMGs, and Shotties anyways) try to match grips - or if you can’t match, try and find a Dahl (AR) or Tediore grip (SMGs, Shotties) respectively.
I say this because I find that with Bandit guns:
- if you match grips, you continuously stack the magazine size benefits of Bandit-made weapons as a whole, while also nullifying the reload speed penalty - as matching grips in the first place give you a bonus to reload speed.
- With ARs, it’s best to have one that has either one of a Dahl grip and/or stock if you can’t find a matching grip. At the very least, even though you still have the reload speed penalty that is natural with Bandit guns, you do get the benefit of the weapon being a bit more stable. Only issue there is you lose a bit of base damage.
- With Shotties and SMGs, Tediore grips would be better used if non-matching since it allows for better reloads. Like with a Dahl AR grip, the only issue is you lose a bit with the Tediore grip (magazine size in this case).
