Matchmaking needs some overhaul

Hi,

i have 2 issues with matchmaking:

you dont factor in character level. Which means you can get a team with all heroes being level5ish playing against 5 champs being way higher. Thats bad.

Even more important: you dont factor in grouping. Being in a group enhances the effectivity of a player by at least 100%. 5 solo players playing against a 2 solo players and a team of 3 is an automatic lose. You need to make sure, groups are only paired against similar groups.

I’m glad someone else mentioned this. I played in a game recently where i had 4 players on my team with an average level of 5. While the enemy had a level 40 and the rest where 20-25. And I’m only level 19!

Higher account lvl has nothing to do with skill. However most games that are MOBA type tend to have some kind of built-in system which keeps new player from playing ranked and will most likely be in place for the released version of this game.

In the build of the Beta we are playing they may have turned off parts of systems like the group factor in matchmaking, but I agree with you that premade groups tend to have an advantage. However adding people to your friends list was not hard in the CTT and I’m guessing it still that way in this Beta build, to add some friends to your list and group up to counter premades.

There is no skill-based matchmaking currently in the beta, with the exception of the ranked queue on PC.

Hmm, I do not know or believe your numbers are correct but I believe matchmaking could be a bit better, of course, i also the thing that because it’s the beta that they may have allowed a wider berth to allow matches to start faster, and etc. Of course, levels do not really matter too too much simply because of the fact that its skills and exp that set apart a level1 and a level 20 (as an example). There are no automatic, predetermined endings simply because you have a team of random players vs a team with 4 or 3 or even a full team. Now your chances of winning may vary but it is quite possible to still win, again since experience and skill/tactics will be more advantageous to either one of the teams.

The only reason I am wary of <5 characters is the player might not be used to the system or the objectives, other than that level does not mean skill level. Trust me as someone whose level is in the thirties and sucks terribly
