Matchmaking times are getting ridiculous

Just played a couple matches at around 1am local time.

5-7 minute queues, including a few false starts.

Maybe I’m at some ELO sweet spot, or maybe all these “OMG OON QUEUE” posts are just trolls. Unsure.

I wish I was trolling, I can only find incursion matches now (and only at peak times), the other 2 modes are a wasteland

issue is, when i play meltdown with the team i want to play with, our win percentage is well over 90 pct. if i play solo, it goes down to like 65-70 pct. i can find games solo usually, but with my team it is extremely difficult to find meltdown games. we can get incursion right away. im sure my incursion win percnt is like 70 pct at very best, and my solo is 50/50 in incursion.

I have made a few topics about this, and I have given up hope this will be fixed. All Gearbox does is spam us with ‘NEW CHARACTER COMING’ messages on their Twitter. They have no clue lots of gamers are pretty much unable to play. For example; I have played 12 hours this week. Effectively, I have had 188 minutes of actual game time. So 3 out of 12 hours. That’s not slow matchmaking, that’s utter crap. And the most annoying thing of all is waiting for 25 minutes, and then seeing the opponents forfeit after 6 minutes. In 2016, there is no way games like that will have a long life span. People just do not accept this kind of amateurism.

I really think you should consider removing any of the ELO stuff at the moment. Maybe have it when you have ranked play.
As a player in AUS I havent been able to get a game in over a week and have had +2 hours of waiting in match making and nothing.

With the lack of players on PC it doesn’t seem like a good idea to have anything restricting who can get matched with who.
At the very least let the matchmaking expand to allow a larger range of players.

I think they are aware, and trying to fix it. Check the ‘dev tracker’ button in the menu up there. They posted about it 5 posts above your comment.

No-one wants this situation, especially gearbox.

I’m having this exact same problem. I sit in a lobby waiting for 20+ minutes for Meltdown, and have even gotten a “Failed to find a player lobby” message, or something along those lines multiple times. I have a 61% W/L overall, and probably close to a 75% W/L in Meltdown. I haven’t been able to play Meltdown since Friday afternoon because of this, but Incursion matches are much shorter and take about 2 minutes.

Maybe they are taking this serious, but that would mean something worse. That would mean a multi-milion game developer is unable to launch a game with decent matchmaking. I cannot grasp how a company can put a game like this is retail. Especially since the Open Beta was better that the actual game.

Also, what makes it even more annoying, is that after a 20 min wait, games are forfeited after 6 minutes. If Gearbox would really take this seriously, the first thing they would do is delete this forfeit option.

Umm…

What? I mean…

/waves hands in the air in a sort of desperate OMG-gearbox-really-can’t-please-everyone-damned-if-they-do-damned-if-they-don’t kind of gesture.

Right. I’ve settled down. One question: Do you want them to fix it?

If you buy a game, do you accept that it’s broken? I mean, would you release a game with horror matchmaking if you where in charge? It’s just a game, sure, but for a game developer, this is a first class blunder. I find it pretty much unforgivable that I’m stucked with an unplayable game.

Edit: It’s not about wanting them to fix. It’s about asking money for a broke game.

So…is that a ‘Yes’?

See my edit. I’m not gonna wait for it, to be honest. Would you?

I’ve been around gearbox games for while. I have enormous faith in their commitment and dedication to ensuring that everyone gets the best experience possible through ongoing support and development. They broke borderlands 1 with a not-very-global scaling patch. Then they fixed it, which by all accounts was a huge task. So…Yes, I am.

Currently in a queue approaching 3-hours of waiting time on PC version.
I’ve been watching enough people come and go to make over 4 full games.

An update could not come too soon, I wish Gearbox the best in resolving this.

I hope for Gearbox there a a lot of gamers like you. I hope you also understand my perspective. I am an adult working 40 hours a week. What i like, is to play a game in the evenings for 1,5 or 2 hours. For the pas 3 weeks, I have been unable to do this. Matchmaking isn’t long, it’s broke. My record is a 43 minute que, average is 15-20 minutes. That means 1 or two matches every evening. First I had patience, but after 3 weeks without any significant changes, I’m just done. I really like the game itself, but the idiot forfeiting and matchmaking are just so bad, that I rather pick another game and resell this one.The reason I have not done this, is mainly because I sometimes play with my brother who does like it and has less issues. Nevertheless, a game studio that brings this on the market and THEN fixes it (probably so they could out-released Overwatch), is not worth my money again. Again, I just want 1-2 hours of gaming in the evening. All I ask for is a game that works when it’s released.

This is beyond incredibly dissapointing. I do not buy a game to wait to play it. If this lasts much longer I will not return to the game. I work with a very large contingent of gamers. We were talking about this game so I bought it. I guess I will let them know how it is.

Based on the matches I see, I am unconvinced that there is any ELO system in place. If there is, it is massively flawed.

Waiting time for capture maps for PS4 over 30 minutes, if I’m lucky!
The other modes seem to have shorter waiting times.

This is in the Netherlands, Europe.

I have to say I am sorry for Gearbox. They are deploying a massive endevor on a piss poor multiplayer framework. Microsoft needs to give these great developers the freedom they have with pc.

Looking for any comments from Gearbox on this? Have they addressed this at all?
