I’ve been sticking mostly to PvE for this reason. I’m waiting for the population to grow enough for them to enable some real matchmaking because with the playerbase as small as it is you either play unbalanced matches or you don’t get to play. It’s unfortunate but that’s the way it is.

I nearly only play PVP because I really love it but some adjustments would be appreciated.
I hoped for some announcements from GBX regarding MM changes tweaks or additions but no word from it in the battleplan, yet said some weeks ago that changes are on their way which should make MM better than it is right now

The numbers have been over 1k consistently on the PC since the Loot giveaway, so hopefully we’ll have ELO enabled again soon. I don’t like stomping and I really hate being stomped, so I’d rather wait longer for a good match than be forced into one of those two situations.

Yeah, but that’s why I was hoping for some sort of update. A lot of the new folks don’t have the attachment to the game we do and they are going to get run off.
Thing is, I have no idea if something has been done and it simply isn’t effective or nothing has been done at all.

New player here, just wanted to ask if there is any point to PvP before lvl 100? Im around level 30, and have tried a match a day of PvP, but its level 10s vs a full team of 100’s almost any time. Kinda guess if there isnt a point to it before then ill just wait for Legion to come out
Hi, and welcome.
CR is, to some extent, and indicator of experience with the game, but not of skill. Don’t assume those 100s are great players (actually, titles can sometimes tell you more that CR).
But yes, I encourage you to give it a try, it can be a lot of fun, regardless of command rank. I think that ELO matchmaking is turned off right now, which would mean you will get some unbalanced matches, unfortunately. I am hoping it will be enabled soon (or tightened up if already active) but they need more players to do that.
I would take a look at the forum for the platform you are on, maybe try to find some others to group with that can show you the ropes.

Any idea when the matchmaking will be on? Ive play hundreads of hours of other MOBA’s, and I understand in a perfect world Command Level means nothing. But guessing by EVERY match being against 100’s and getting crushed kinda tells me to not play pvp at all until then
I feel your pain, man, and I am CR 100. As I said before, I don’t know for a fact that it isn’t enabled, but IMO the range needs to be tightened up some of it is. They are trying to find a balance between queue times and match quality, and not all of us are the same. I (and you by the sound of it) would prefer to wait a bit longer to get a better match. Others care more about getting in as fast as possible.

The unfortunate truth is that even with the platforms that do have ELO enabled, matches are still formed horribly as the ELO range is way too wide.
I was hoping that they would implement the changes that they said were going to be coming in this patch that would start with a tighter range and then widen the longer the search went, but it doesn’t seem like they were implemented.

Just piling on the grief to say that my PvP record is currently 1 win and 12 losses on the PC version. Queue "git gud"s, but playing this game puts me in a foul mood for hours. It’s never a close match. It always ends up with the enemy completely dominating us to the point where I can’t even take out structures they build by the halfway point. At best I get a moral victory where we go 5-100 in an incursion match and at least run out the clock. This is painful.

Playing microphone on with randoms mainly, I get to hear a LOT of opinions on this situation.
It seems like right now there is a huge pool of CR 100’s, many of whom sadly just want to dominate matches and certainly don’t mind crushing a team of CRs 1-20ish to do so.
These same people also complain about losing fair matches against other CR 50-100s.
Then you have a lot of new people who keep getting consistently crushed by high CR players and as a result get frustrated and quit trying to work their way to 100.
I have played with many amazingly skilled lower level players who just gave up and found different games to focus on due to Battleborn matchmaking unfairness.
This makes me sad.
Battleborn is such a fun, crazy, unique and beautiful game!

It is, but half the game is pretty much unplayable (PvP aspect) at low levels.

I really hope they do something about it. Today I only my played once with a team of my lvl against evenly matched enemies.
5 times in a row I was put in a group with cr 1-20 against a group of cr 100, that’s awful having to play like that.
I don’t mind low team mates but with the Match up we got owned badly

The matchmaking would be slightly better if they just put half the 100s in the queues on one team instead of matching 5 low levels vs 5 100s.
They really need to fix it, it’s definitely hurting the player base as you said.
Considering there are no tutorials or training for the PvP, the only way to learn it is by playing it, and that shouldn’t have to be done by first getting to a high rank. (Which still wouldn’t matter if you’ve had little or poor experience in the PvP mode)
Otherwise an amazing game.
FIX THE MATCHMAKING FOR LOW LEVELS and you’ll have a much larger player base.

There really is a simple solution to the crappy matchmaking, and I don’t know why they refuse to do it. This has probably been mentioned before, but maybe if we mention it enough, they will try it. Right now, it seems that they match up the five player teams first, and then try to match up two teams. That usually results in the teams being very unfair. I am routinely matched up with three players with CR below 20, and then put against a team of five CR 100s. If instead they matched 10 players, and then divided them into two roughly even teams, the matches should be much better.

Me too! Although I am CR100, I routinely, actually most frequently, get teamed up with new players with CR10 or less. It must be because of my horrendous losing streak. Anyway, I feel really sorry for them when I see them flounder as we get the crap kicked out of us by opposing teams of five CR100s. They frequently get killed five or six times in the first couple of minutes, and then stop playing. I don’t blame them if they quit and go play something else. I’d like to myself many times, but I’m addicted to this game.
Does this mean that a BB recovery group needs to be formed like AA?. If so than I’m never going to a meeting. lol
Anyone noted changes in the last 2-3 days? Maybe just luck but it seems like matches have been a little better.

I haven’t noticed, but maybe. There have been a lot more people playing with the PS4 sale and the Humble Bundle, so it’s possible.

The solution to matchmaking, imo, is just to put players into brackets of PvP games played (in addition to ELO).
Newbies get matched with other newbies. (0-20 games or whatever)
Intermediate, but still newbies, are in a mid category. (15-45 games or whatever)
Everyone else is in the “Experienced” category. (40+ games or whatever)
With ELO in place, I don’t think that’s necessary. Without ELO, that potential becomes a problem for those of us that are experienced, but not great players. There’s also the issue of premades with a mix of CR ranges, which happens frequently.
