Mayhem Modifiers - Do you like them - VOTE

I actually agree with a little bit of wackiness, but man the mayhem modifiers are just all over the place and I just dislike the fact they are resettable, just seems cheesy to me.

I’m torn on them, I like that they push me for build diversity but I do like niche builds with very specific items and they ruin those

Mayhem mods were designed by people who don’t play diablo games. If they had played these games they would know that nobody enjoys spending 20 minutes rerolling maps to get one that isnt -75% all damage or something dumb. These promote, if not demand, poor gameplay,

At first they felt tedious, but I’m getting used to them. They force you to up your game and give you a constant desire to keep improving and looking for those god rolls to overcome the modifiers.

Honestly I just deal with whatever the map rolls so I keep an extra set of weapons to cover the penalties/bonuses. Its part of the challenge , however I think look needs to still be tuned better because I have had obscene penalties with reflect plus gun penalties and mobs with more health/shields which on my MOZE is crazy hard. I deal with the challenge and after 6 deaths killing a boss to only get crappy blue, greens, whites and a handful of equally terrible purple drops I feel incredibly robbed. The point of loot shoot that they brag about is earning and farming for awsome legendaries but when mayhem drops a load on you making mobs nearly impossible only to overcome it for trash then the challenge is pointless.

Generally they don’t bother me. The lack of clarity gets under my skin though. Maybe use the blue arrow/chevron for the mods affecting you and a red one for those affecting the enemy? That being said, I don’t really check them unless I’m in a serious farming frenzy. I then restart sometimes if i get ridiculous rolls.

i don’t mind them but i wanted an option to turn it off (for speed kills).

I never refresh maps because my build doesn’t need it. I also don’t mind reflective bullets because I can let go of the left mouse button here and there.

I like them and voted accordingly.

I don’t mind them, but I’ll reroll if things are heavily stacked against me. They really need to rework the modifiers because they currently encourage very little strategy. They could try combining MM with OP levels. The modifiers would just be a pair of a positive and a negative. For example, “Player has decreased reload speed, but increased damage or whatever” and you’d just deal with it or use COV weapons. The difficulty would stay consistent because of the OP levels.

Poll options were very limited. I picked “I don’t mind” because for the most part I don’t. It’s only when you get stacking negative effects (eg. -50% damage on X type of weapons, -50% all damage, etc) that it becomes frustrating.

They need to split the modifiers down to specific things and get rid of the universal ones. It sucks so hard when your bullets do literally 5% the damage they normally do, and when every element’s effect is reduced.

I’d give up all the positive bonuses if they were to do this. When I get garbage like that it’s the only time I restart.

The modifiers are OK, but 1 of them is actually ASS. When you do damage it gets reflected back to you. THIS IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Gearbox get rid of this pathetic trash modifier. I don’t mind enemies having more health and being resistant because i can alter my load-out and try new guns etc-etc but whats the point if if just get reflected b…look, I’m not going to go on. You get my point. Put it in the bin.

Everything else is OK though, well done for adding a next level of difficulty.

instant restart if i get reflect, firing 10 pellets good chance to 1 shot myself.

Remove reflect. I like the idea about the others, but the values are a bit too extreme. Also, each and every modifier should come in 2 parts, to offer a balace. See e.g. Grim Dawn’s modifiers.

Reflect is the worse, everything else is fine

I briefly tried Mayhem, decided it wasn’t worth the added annoyance, and shut it off.

This. My exact problem. The first time I saw it I was like waaaa… I have seen far stupider ones than that too. Cannot remember exactly what it was but it made any gun useless

I will restart if there are multiple debuffs of the same thing.
-30% gun damage
-50%pistol,smg,shotgun
30%chance to reflect bullets back.
That’s to much for superman to overcome.

They Have that already. go to sanctuary and select ‘turn mayhem mode off’.
Now you may say you want better loot? Well the whole idea is making it more difficult for better loot. Speed Kills is not more difficult.
I agree the drop rates are far too low though. In single player, I have been stuck trying to fight 3-4 anointed at once on top of the usual mob. After 15-20 mins for a single mob with crap loot, it gets a bit old quickly.

it is different.

time trials need a common ground. otherwise every kill is different and not comparable.

this is exactly why i made this post, see how others felt.

the build i had going yesterday was really nice, and was almost nailed on. started playing more Mayhem 3 only to find the modifiers completely made some runs almost impossible due to the stacking debuffs.

Enemy 150% Health, Shields, Armour
Take 50% less Fire, Shock, Corrosive
My Gun Damage was 100% less

Struggled to kill the first Militant…quit.
