Mega Code mess up

I’m sorry, but this SEVERLY messed up. You guys went out of your way to create 2 different codes for Battleborn players with one lacking the better content.

The TRUE mega code has 10,000 credits, 18 loot packs (3 Legendaries and 3 of each faction’s commander pack), and 5 skins. (From what i heard, it’s the cyber skin for Rath, Attikus, Ernest, Alani, and ISIC.)

The watered-down stream version has only the 10,000 credits like before only 1 of each of the 6 major loot packs and without the skins.

Only 1 of each of the loot packs is fine, thats nothing to cry (alot) about. However, the skins are a big issue. I’m a perfectionist kinda guy and i make it my mission to collect each and every thing possible. This includes skins and taunts weither it’s through in-game events or buying it as DLC; and while i already have Rath’s cyber skin, the other 4 i don’t.
I’m sorry, but while i love battleborn like a firstborn child, i don’t got the kind of money to attend events like Pax, E3, and so on. This is severely unfair. Unless you plan the distribute those skins at a later point, then this is honestly something that needs to be worked out.
Im pretty sure more than 75% of players didn’t get it.

You wanna know whats even worse, those who went to pax west will benefit from BOTH codes. Thats 20,000 credits, 21 loot packs, plus those 5 skins.

I’m fairly confident in saying that those skins will be available to all at a later date. I believe that they are just timed exclusives. Just like the pre-order gold skins, the Digital Deluxe extras and all of the other gold and cyber skins. If you don’t believe me I can summon the great and mighty @JoeKGBX and he can inform you as to whether these skins are going to be available at a later date or not (unless marketing tells him he can’t).

Hey, i’m just here simply stating how i feel about it. I’m glad that i know that we’ll get the skins later on, but it still feels unfair in my heart.

Actually this skin was made available for people who participated in the Gears of Battle tournaments. I believe the HGL got a different cyber skin (for Pendles I believe). I have the Galilea one for co-commentating several of the tournaments for Gears of Battle. I wanted to participate in the HGL tournament on PC for the skin they were giving out but there weren’t enough participants in the tournament I signed up for (and so far not enough for the next one either).

How do you sign up for the tournaments? I am on ps4, got a mic, but i do not talk much though. Just telling everyone who is were. I do not have a team, but would join one.

I think it’s fine, in all honesty. The fact that they had something for those that saw the stream (and those that didn’t, as it’s a publicly available code) is enough for me

Among all the issues this game is facing, this is the thing that gets people up the wall?

Conventions are expensive to go to, so the people that actually spent their hard-earned dollars get to walk out with some additional digital goodies… sounds like a fair trade…

How can I morally demand GBX to give me stuff if I didn’t spend money updating my passport, to take time off to fly to the convention, spend lots of money for the trip in general, and didn’t watch their event once I got there?

Since I didn’t do any of these things… GBX doesn’t get to reward me handsomely.

Besides, these skins aren’t going to improve the current PC population.

Most people at those conventions are sent there by their employers, so it’s not an out-of-pocket expense for most.

That I spend money and free time doing something I want to be doing?

If most of the people at the convention are staff members, or there because of work reasons so they didn’t need to pay for anything, that’s the reason GBX should be giving us skins, since nobody that was there had to pay an entrance fee?

I’m happy to hear that. I’m not even a big fan of the Cyber/Gold skins, but I too want to collect them all. I NEED to have them all…

Hey guys,

So let me address this briefly.

  1. @Tokesy97 is correct. This will not be the only time/way those skins are released. If you’re into collecting skins, you need not worry. We have no shortage of ways nor desire to give away skins in what we feel are appropriate ways and at appropriate intervals.

  2. We’re really sorry that not everyone can be at PAX – believe me. The best part of PAX is getting to meet actual fans. For the record and in case you aren’t aware, PAX is a show that is about the fans, not the industry. Someone above mentioned that the only people that get to go to PAX are sent there by their employers. This is not the case. PAX is attended by players just like yourselves. In fact, I’ve met some of you at PAX shows in the past.

Gearbox tries our best to go out of our way to make our fans feel special. We do our best to make sure we reward players in a fair fashion. At the same time, we don’t see anything wrong with putting together a little something extra for people who spend their hard earned cash and time to come see us and attend our PAX panels. The issue isn’t that we’re penalizing those who can’t afford to attend PAX, it’s that we’re thanking the people that find a way to come and interface with us. In fact, we put in extra work and went out of our way to minimize that feeling of perceived unfairness by creating two codes.

We know that rubs some people the wrong way. That sentiment is nothing new. The truth is, we’re not sorry about it and we’ll keep doing it – because it makes us happy to make the people that attend out panels happy. Planning a PAX panel is no small task for our team and when people go out of their way to attend our panel and show their support to our work, we feel like that deserves an acknowlegement.

Sorry to be blunt here, guys, but this is something I’ve had on my mind the past few days. I just want to stress that this isn’t about excluding, but about thanking. It’s really that simple. It’s about positivity. Full stop.

I wanted to come and amend my post from last night bit. It would’ve been beneficial to mention this then, but it was late and I was just trying to generally get caught up on everything.

Yes and no. We still have quite a few left over codes that we brought back with us from PAX and we have every intention of giving those away - for free. We have no plans of any kind to sell the mega codes. They were created as a goodwill gesture and so they shall remain. We’re working on coming up with some cool ways to give them out and also on what cadence we’d like to do so.

SO, you will have chances to get these codes soon and for free. The best way to know when the codes will be given out will be to keep an eye on the Gearbox and Battleborn social channels.
