Melee teams will be the meta

Last night I played in meltdown, twice I ran into teams made up of all melee characters, and a miko. Their strategy is to travel in a group, destroying whatever players or minions are closest to them, jumping from Lane to Lane. They dominated! I’m not complaining, but I’m worried that this will become the one viable tactic, I don’t know if their is a way even a well coordinated mix of characters could beat that, unless cc effects are stronger. I’m worried that this game is going to need alot more balancing. :cold_sweat:

There will be a lot of meta shifts, people will do something new and it will be powerful and then others will find a counter and then a new things will pop up, its the natural cycle of things like this.

I really hope so. I don’t really like playing as the melee characters. (power to those that do!) It would be a shame if the pvp element of this game became “melee or die”

A good strategy against these melee teams is to slow them down with Marquis and Isic and bomb them with Oscar. And shoot them witth range.

Not garanteed, but I think this is a good place to start.

That may work, that’s those cc effects I was talking about. I just don’t think the slowing effect is strong enough.

Perhaps a team with:

  • Reyna (overshield)
  • Marquis (cc effect and range)
  • Thorn (cc effect and range)
  • Isic (cc effect and strengh)
  • Oscar (bomb the fuck up and Range)

That might work. The fact that it may makes me love this game a little more. I didn’t consider thorn. Blight can be devastating. And Reyna has a great offensive side if you know how to use it, along with a few cc effects of her own. The melee teams will still be difficult to fight against and require a lot of coordination but after all that is what this game is about.

Exactly!! This game will be all about coordination and team work… I was so pumped about it that I already bought the game. Now, I´ll need a new headphone and mic… Lol…

There are a lot of counters to that. There is to much variation in characters for there to be one dominant strategy. You situation for example…

A team with
Shane and Ghalt…

Just grab a couple of them out of the group. Pull them behind enemy lines and give them a group beating. Not to mention if they are following a predictable path start laying some traps in the lanes. Easy peasy.

Oh yes!

What characters have the stun ability? I was think that bra may be useful combining knockback from solar winds pushing enemies into a stunning cataclysm. If I got their team to focus on me which would be easy cause I’m Ambra, Iay he able to stun the whole team! :imp:

Tons of stuns with Melee chars too. So it’s a wrap.

Pheobe/Attikus/El Dragón/Galilea?

Well, the thing that made it so difficult to fight these guys is they gang up on you, from all sides. Like wolves! Them stunning me wouldreally be inconsequential. It was actually kind of awesome but I know I’d get sick of it eventually. But a team against these guys I’d want at least two chars who could stun, two who could knockback well, probably s&a for her ability to fetch and go toe to toe with these bruisers.

I think a coordinated AoE bomb will do the trick. There are several characters that have strong AoE Ultimate. Get two or 3 of those off at the same time and that melee bunch is done.

Combining cc effects with melee focussed AI, like thralls would be the first thing that would come to mind if I was facing a melee focussed team, thralls can do a lot of damage if left alone, in addition, at the end of the day it’s the team that does the most damage to Sentrys that wins, a melee focussed team would have to expose themselves by standing in the open, allowing a more mixed team to take them out, as previously mentioned, there are multiple ways to thrash a melee only team
