Yes.

That’s an interesting thought. I don’t think I’ll ever be “good”, I generally think mediocre is the best I can hope for, but that does bring a certain amount of hope.

Yeah, it took me awhile to get to mediocrity ( I can do OP4 with L80 gear but not OP10), but it’s a fun ride and it’s such a cool and different play style if you haven’t done it before

That’s why I dusted of that Legendary Ninja com. I think I’m going to spend a lot of time with the Hyperion respawn lady in the coming days.

That’s in interesting idea for an alternative controller LO.

I had swapped melee to circle (or B on Xbox), but that ended up being tough vs stalkers and the like, not sure I could get used to the shoot button for melee.

There was a point where I tried grenade on R3 and melee on r1, but it was too wierd for me to try to readjust muscle memory

I use Brute Force. and Blame the Norfleet. lol

@Sun_Tsunami let’s try this at OP0 it is easier for the chief to stay alive. i shoot a norfleet at it and it didn’t die. lol previously if you shoot a norfleet anywhere in the arena, the splash will kill the chief. lol

@paulothead welcome to the club!

Thank you, but I don’t think I’m a full fledged member just yet. Maybe I count as an apprentice?

i started as a Padawan of Sun Tsunami myself. lol

I mean I only use that swap for melee Zer0 as I can use R2 to melee with Krieg… it’s a quick two button swap that takes 15 seconds, You just forget to do it or to change it back for anyone else… having shoot on R3 isn’t so bad as melee Zer0 as i’m just popping off a few Grog or Rapier shots to slag or a launcher blast in FFYL… I do pop on a CER class mod and then Bee/Lyuda certain bosses (bloodwing, handsome dragon for ex.) but again, it’s not for very long… just hurts my thumb to jam R3 constantly and R2 feels like your natural main attack anyway… like I said, I’m probably the only one who does it though and i’m not a great melee Zer0 player

mine is R1 - shoot, R2 - melee, R3 - Grenade

With my recent melee kreig playthrough I’m very thankful for BxR using r2 since I agree that clicking the stick isnt the most natural thing. Especially some raid bosses when you’re mostly standing in their face and meleeing them with a grog. When I had tried that setup, I was probably 50/50 between Maya and zero so I was too used to r2 to shoot, may have to give that setup another go at some point now that most of my time is on zero or kreig.

And @nat_zero_six do you then switch back to default PS4 (shoot r2, melee r3 grenade r1) for other characters? Seems like it’d be a pretty big adjustment and especially with all the raids you do there’s a lot less room for error/button mispresses

nope, i make it my default for all.

Wow. Some things happened today on the forum while I wasn’t paying attention.

@paulothead - firstly, awesome.
Secondly, Unforseen does work with MMF but you may have to play around with the points. At OP8 I can run at my usual 4/5 with shock BoA and have only the occasional problem (Unforseen killing a guy which halts the chain). I would never use it in Pete’s Bar though - which is a tremendous place to use the LT.
At OP0, definitely dial it down. Don’t use a shock Bone, and maybe 3/5?

That I’m finally taking the plunge, or that the build is not completely incoherent? :wink:

I’ve come to that conclusion already in my first shot at Bug Gulch. I did swap my shock Bone for a Blood with sniper ammo buff, but am totally missing the cool down. The other conclusion I’ve come to is that I’m going to need a less suicidal method of stripping my shield than firing a Slowhand at my feet. I may hit the loot train hoping for a sweet Tesla.

I’ve never done the Torgue DLC with Zer0. :acmembarrass: Maybe I should get the Ninja rhythm down a little better before I try it?

Oh definitely. Don’t throw into the Bar straight away. Again, it’s best for the Love Thumper which can be quite different - one shield at a time.

I’ve got the Law and Order and LT at old OP2, so I’ve got some stuff to play around with. I may send someone to TTAODK to try for Chain Lightnings before I start practicing in earnest.

Torgue DLC is actually great for melee Zer0 as a lot of smaller targets for MMF chains… not every section is great of course but plenty are…I never tone down Unf0rseen xD… 5/5 with a shock bone may break a few MMF chains but it also usefully finishes off bigger targets if you execute them through your decoy… really need to get yourself a chain lightning for shield stripping, I’d go farm one with a Maya or something or ask another PS4 user

I got a vanilla 72 Lightning nade real quick and am using that for shield stripping now. Far less suicidal than the Slowhand, although less than ideal for Moxxi heals. Taking a couple of practice runs through Bug Gulch using the Evisc. Rubi with the LT, and so far better than I expected. One respawn to my own Kunai (in terms of Deathmark is one as good as all 4?), one to Gettle, and one to a slag spiderant that got behind me and did the Marauder backpedal. I picked Bug Gulch for the straightish line and my familiarity with the spawns, plus I wouldn’t be mad at a tubby or 2. Any places you think would be better?

You need 72 melee zero gears?

5 Likes

Probably? I have Law and Order, Love Thumper, a Lightning nade I’m using for shield stripping, and a slag Evisceration Rubi at 72 or the old OP2. With a character cloned from my old 72/OP2 Zer0. I’ll get around to farming for better gear, but I’m not too proud for hand me downs.

I like bug gulch for learning, teaches good backstab positioning and has a chance for good loot. Washburne is a good map since loaders have more health and there are barrels all over (seriously, I’d pay money for a patch to remove barrels), but it’s more of a map for once you have melee down. Southpaw is always fun offering both trash mobs and bosses, but neither of those maps can spawn tubbies.
